Furlong on 20:08 - Apr 28 by HammersmithR | Bignot was absolutely shocking as a footballer for us. Never rated him. Padula was ok, but nothing special. Apparently Furlong nearly came back to us in January if Dunne went. I heard a rumour that Furlong has a son who is either in our academy or is about to join hence the desire to move. |
I loved Bignot, thought he was good for us

Loved that whole team. I’d say Bignot was a steady player. Not spectacular but had his role and did it well. Met him once and seemed a very nice bloke. Didn’t realise he’s now Holloway’s assistant. [Post edited 28 Apr 22:40]

Dijksteel is one of our top scorers this season, Celar and Lloyd only scored one more than him for us and they played up front for ages

But who will be on the receiving end of his long throw ins? It only works with JD on the pitch doesnt it?

Don't know really. As Carl Jung said, "you are what you do, Jimmy's position is the one he plays in". | | | | Login to get fewer ads

The data says that Darnell is a great thrower and header of the ball, therefore we should expect him to do both in the same set piece, saving money and optimising the squad by throwing the ball to himself.

Is there actually a rule against that? Could a player in theory launch a big looper in to the box and then run to get on the end of it?

I don’t think you can but they change the rules often enough that is worth exploring. VAR could then allow it for midweek games and stop it at the weekend.

Furlong on 09:17 - Apr 29 with 1382 views | TheChef | Would be great if he did come back, but other than the emotional attachment why would he? Plenty of other better clubs he could go to. And I can't imagine his weekly wage is cheap.

Furlong on 09:20 - Apr 29 with 1357 views | CamberleyR | I'd be very happy if Darnell came back. Very solid, experienced Championship defender (roughly 300 games for us and West Brom at this level) and still not yet 30. He would very easily slot into the captaincy when Cook eventually leaves.

Yeah Dijksteel feels more like one that fits the comedy QPR full back mould.

Furlong on 09:38 - Apr 29 with 1243 views | numptydumpty | No chance he is coming back. Be too expensive for us, too old given our current purchasing strategy and he has been solid for WBA, if he leaves them, he is at the very least having a sideways move. Unfortunately as things stand, we would be a step down for him. Also we got rid of him. Just because his dad is here, what else is there to suggest reasons why he starts here next season As a certain gentleman says "FAKE NEWS"

Furlong on 09:24 - Apr 29 by GaryHaddock | I never quite understood why we let him go in the first place? |
Because he was a sellable asset. One of many times we didn't have many. At a time when we were in, even more desperate than usual, need of staying within FFP limits.
Furlong on 14:30 - Apr 29 with 785 views | slmrstid | In another footballing era Darnell would have played 400+ games for us across his whole career as Captain and one-club man. Alas those days are gone but he'd still be excellent at this level, just a shame we've missed his best year's.
Furlong on 15:22 - Apr 29 with 637 views | DavieQPR | Had a bit of trouble with supporters when he threw his shirt to the ground after being subbed. Their supporters think the same as ours who don't have their rose tinted glasses on. 'Good going forward but not a very good defender'.

Wouldn't be a bad option on our budget though, and comes with an actual long throw which for quite some time now has been the only time we ever look like scoring a goal.
