Supporting QPR on 18:27 - Apr 30 by qpr_1968 | unless i was made manager, or chairman, there is absolute f...all that i can do. next season will be my 57 th year following the thing i love second to my wife/family. next may will be 50th year with my wife.....thats besides the point. every season i expect us to do well, i dont follow us to under achieve, even though i know the ins and outs of qpr.....they are my social life.... before games, home and away, are where i meet mates, family and new friends, a bad season is where the 90 minutes gets in the way, but i stay until the very end every game, i love qpr....that to me are what following the r's are about. from early 1990's i've taken my children, nephews and nieces, and grandson to qpr, and am proud to say that not one person in our family supports anyone other than qpr. yes, i will be there next season, so whatever my views on qpr, our club, i' think i deserve the right for my sometimes strange comments on the r's, but they are always meant well. i'll never give up on this mad club....if we win something or come close, it's a bonus.... chin up people. |
This is exactly where I am. 53 years of visiting Loftus Rd - through the good, the bad, the indifferent. It's in the blood and like 68, I'm happy to say my kids, their kids and all my nephews and their kids are QPR. I love this club - I don't love 90% of the charlatans that have either managed, owned or represented this amazing institution in the heart of West London, but my support for the pure QPR is ceaseless, enduring and relentless. Players, Managers and owners come and go - we remain. 100%

1958 my big brother took me to my first game at LR. We stood In the loft right by the corner flag, there was a tea hut with an enormous bloody tea pot on the shelf, a huge brawl broke out behind us and me Brother grabbed hold of me and we had to leave sharpish, he made me promise not to tell our Dad about the punch up because he would stop us coming again, I could smell that loft when I was 8 Years old and I loved It no normal person In the Street would understand what the hell I'm on about but who cares? In a few Months I'll be 75, most of last Year and this year I've been having operations, couple of them quite serious and risky so my visits to LR have had to diminish, me Lad drove us last time. Both of our Boys are QPR the eldest Christened Dave Thomas. It's a bastard for me now getting to LR I'm gonna see where me health Is this coming August we'll see. I used to walk In the front door after a game not saying a word and my Missus would say, ''You've lost again I can tell'' and we invariably had I've been up to no good at games and got nicked once I couldn't help meself, I was banned from the Euros In 1996 and I don't care what people think. In October of this Year I'll have been married 52 Years, She's fantastic She knows about the football and She gives me all the space I need when the games on. This football club have given me so much and they've slapped me In the mouth In equal measures. Looking back for about two seconds I wouldn't have It any other way. It gets you and It wont let go, you know full well that On a Saturday afternoon or a midweek day you've got to put some time aside for you know what. I was working on a building site In Reading Years ago and we ran out of cement on a Friday afternoon, I said I'll go and get a few bags from the builders merchant, I jumped In me moter and drove to Tranmere Rovers ground Instead and watched us lose or draw, me memory Is useless now. There's no medicine to make you feel better. C'mon Rangers. [Post edited 30 Apr 23:32]

Nothing more to be said..... Until reading that... beautifully put Ted Also lost count of the weekends this team have spoilt for me, and the best summary for me was my brothers wife who once said to him "If it upsets you this much why don't you just support another team".... ........ the look he gave her said everything

Supporting QPR on 08:41 - May 1 with 1617 views | QPRSam | It's easy to feel all doom and gloom at the moment but a few things recently that have kept me positive... I couldn't recommend enough to listen to Ilias Chair's conversation on the W12 Podcast. He discusses his love for the club in detail, how much he feels he owes us and how hopeful he is about our future. It's very encouraging to hear and a reminder that there are players in this club that care. Future captain talk. Secondly and following last night, it's been great following our development squad knocking out 3 category 1 academy teams on the bounce to reach our first final at under 21 level. Being at HQ last night I left really feeling some pride. We have some great talents coming through with the likes of Murphy, Esquerdinha, Tuck, Sutton that I can't wait to get chances in the first team. I'd definitely recommend to support the boys in the final, this is what it's all about Following that is the existing young talents in the first team. Varane, Dembele, Morrison. 2 players coming back that you can argue should have been in the League 1 TOTS in Kelman and Cooper. I'm looking forward to seeing all of these players continue to grow next year. This also extends to the fanbase and seeing the youth turnout continue to grow giving the crowd energy and life, the biggest attendances in 10 years, we're certainly not dying out. So whilst the summer break is welcomed, I'm holding onto all of this and will be there again August home and away. You R's

Supporting QPR on 18:38 - Apr 30 by NewYorkRanger | Nice one 68. Been questioning it all myself over the last 24 hours but your post brought me back to reality. We donβt go for the glory do we?! My dad took me first time in 1975. We seen a lot in that time eh? Iβll be back next season no matter what. URRRRSSSS! |
I started going to QPR in 1975 too, 50 years now! It's gone downhill mostly from a great beginning, but it's inside me. Nothing is going to change that. Not lived in the UK since 1982, the last game I saw live was our win over Bristol City, the last game of the 2015/16 season, followed by some beers in the Crown. Now I'm restricted to watching all the League games on QPR+. But one fine day I'll get back, just maybe early next season.

Supporting QPR on 10:48 - May 1 with 1472 views | themodfather | it is a rollercoaster ride for sure, many many dips and a few highs , the conveyor belt of players and managers is never ending , the trophy room redundant but the CARRY ON QPR always continues. the modern game is not as many of us knew it, it's now a cold business which seems to make up their rules as they go along or get caught out. few players come thru youth set up and play for a club for a decade or more so limited loyalties.
Supporting QPR on 11:31 - May 1 with 1385 views | NorthantsHoop | I first went to QPR as a 9 year old for a mate's birthday in 1972, supported Arsenal in those days, living so near to Rangers in Northolt, it was basically the local team. My dad who was QPR first took me to QPR in 1973 for QPR v Arsenal, I carried on as an Arsenal supporter for a couple more years and then Dad who did Pools work for QPR and knew Tony Ingham got me a Christmas Card in 1975, signed by some of the 1975/76 team (profile picture) and dad started taking me more to Rangers, I was converted. Then got my first season ticket in 1982 at the age of 18 and off you go. Great times going in the 1980s, fantastic team in the old first division, then a lull of not going from 1986 to 2014, now a season ticket holder since then , must say as a bloke over 60 now, enjoy it just as much as that 9 year old seeing his first game in 1972. Supporting QPR on 07:42 - May 2 with 721 views | Rangersw12 | My kids are 5th generation Rangers . It's in the blood and I've made lifelong friendships following Rangers over the years . Yes we are crap 95% of the time but it's very rare we don't have a good day out regardless of the football. If you just go to the game and go home again then I can imagine it's a chore but for me and my mates it's all about the day out . As I've taken the kids more it's become even more special , scoring a last minute win at Preston and having my 15 year old old go absolutely potty with me will live long in the memory. I get very down about Rangers at times but I wouldn't change them for the world Up the Rangers , see you at Sunderland π»
