Jimmy Dunne 16:41 - May 3 with 24520 views | essextaxiboy | Thought he deserved a thread on what is likely to be his last game for us . His form has had some ups and downs but he has given us some brilliant memories . His attitude today was superb and professional . He was screaming at his team mates for more effort today , I looked at the clock 10 seconds of added time to go . Fantastic attitude . Thanks Jim

Jimmy Dunne on 21:33 - May 7 by Ned_Kennedys | And who was the ‘reliable person’ who knows the confidential details of a player’s contract offer then? Could it be the person based in Sweden who claims on here to know a lot of what players’ wages are? 🤔 |
I have always considered Donald Duck as a reliable source So why can you not name and shame this reliable source !!! For me Reggae Reggae Sauce is a reliable sauce although I haven't asked it yet about Jimmy's contract offers !!!!

No. Don’t think it was him unless my memory is failing me. I think a couple of people have mentioned it to me though. Perhaps they are lying. It wasn’t Jimmy Dunne, his agent or Christian Nourry, but, yeah, fairly reliable. By all means ignore me though. It’s all a moot point anyway now. Our best player this season is leaving for nothing. It’s not ideal, is it?

Jimmy Dunne on 21:16 - May 7 by Hunterhoop | Well, I’m not Dunne’s agent nor Christian Nourry, so I can’t confirm it is a fact. However, it’s what I was told by a reliable person. Was told salary was not the issue, and he would have signed, but for the length of the renewal. |
Was told the same thing . He wanted a longer contract and we wouldn’t stretch to it. Not sure about the money but that was the basics of it . Players out drinking in Chiswick Sunday . Jimmy saying he will miss them all. But as far as anyone can tell he has no new club set in stone yet or at least that he has openly shared .

Strange , don’t remember you pressing old Charlie boy about his reliable sources too much . Couldn’t be because it satisfied your insatiable Nourry urges could it ?

Jimmy Dunne on 23:36 - May 7 with 2233 views | HammersmithR | The line Dunne has told the club is that he simply wants to play in the Premier League which I can understand. He won’t sign a new contract with us. I just don’t know who in the Prem he is good enough for at right back. He would be a squad player on a better contract we can pay him. I still feel he will go to Sheff United either way if they go up or not. Allegedly he was offered 3.5k a week more by them in January. The club didn’t accept their offer as Dunne reassured the club he would give 100% for the remainder of the season which to be fair he has. Just a shame we are getting nothing for him.

It seems bonkers even at Nourri's level of bonkers that we'd effectively let Dunne go for free because we are insisting on a 3 year contract rather than the 4 he's said to want. Also when I understood we are giving out longer contracts to spread out the depreciation over a longer period. This idea that he wants to play in the PL seems more likely to me. I heard him say that he wanted that one day in an interview he gave when he was with the ROI squad not so long ago. Perhaps there's a bit of both who knows? I suspect Marti being put on gardening leave isn't helping him in any effort we could be making to keep him. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

We’d have been relegated
Jimmy Dunne on 07:35 - May 8 with 1795 views | Paddyhoops | Thankfully we didn’t sell him .Arguably he’s been our best player since Christmas. Without his contribution we’d probably have gone down . What would we have got for him? 1.5 million at the most. Revenues would have dropped by more than in leauge one, I should imagine.
Jimmy Dunne on 08:00 - May 8 with 1722 views | gazza1 | Most of this stuff is speculation, yes there may be a snippet here and there but I would not expect players or agents (or Club officials) to be openly discussing their old or, certainly not, their new contracts that are on the table. What is for sure is that he was not agreeable with the contract that has been offered by the Club, either because of the length of the contract, some of the terms or the pay. My view is that his new contract should no go outside of the Club's thresholds even as 'big' as he is to us.......he is no Eze as a player and would find life very difficult in the Premiership. Jimmy Dunne on 22:21 - May 6 by numptydumpty | Well let's get rid then !!!@ For me it's likely we get the Eze money this term. £15 million minimum but even an extra £750k for Jimmy, for some would not be offered Jimmy's way. For me where there's a will there's a way and it does seem Eze will move this close season and that money then takes our turnover and profit way past Bristols but bow to being battered by the majority on this. For me keeping Jimmy would be a massive priority but seems am in a minority of one. Shut up Numpty !!! |
Sorry Nump you're wrong again here. For us to pocket £15m from any Eze sale we'd have to have a 20% of future transfer fee clause and he'd have to go for £75m. I guess there's a chance of that but it's very optimistic. Even with that number added to our last turnover it would come to £40.9m. Bristol City posted £42.4m in their last accounts so we're still short. Even then you're including transfer profit for QPR but not Bristol City. They made £21.7m OUTSIDE of that £42.4m turnover in their last accounts. If that were repeated they'd be playing with an annual turnover of £64.1m vs ours of £40.9m. Whether you like it or not or think QPR 'should' be able to outspend Bristol City as we're clearly a much bigger club, the simple, objective fact is that due to P&S rules they can outspend us by at least 3:2. Anyone we offer £20k per week to, they can offer £30k and it represents the same % of their P&S cap. We cannot compete with them financially.
Jimmy Dunne on 09:17 - May 8 with 1500 views | stowmarketrange | At least we know that Luton won’t be his next club.Unless those three fingers he held up to their fans meant that he wanted a 3 year deal.

Jimmy Dunne on 11:43 - May 6 by ngbqpr | ...I'm also not convinced he sees himself as a right back so that's something else he'll be factoring in...and whoever the new manager may be, with Morrison and JCS tied down contractually and rumours re a Cook extension, he's far from guaranteed as a starting CB if he re-signs with us. |
isse will be as usual JCS is rarly fit so u cant rely on him to play a full season even half a season so that leaves a year older cook and morrison at centre backs . if the rumoured furlong deal happens is he an upgrade on dunne? older , not as effective in oppostion box decent full back and decent throw in but 29 years old . jimmy is 27 , not signing makes zero sense even if you offer him the 4 years deal hes rumoured to want ,

You know what, fair enough. I had heard it numerous times on this board so thought it was fact, but I have searched it and doesn't seem to come up. But then it wouldn't as we get no details from the club regarding these things which is why we are left to speculate ourselves. But apologies, I said it as if it was fact when it isn't, so that is my bad.

well thats the rumoured replacment , seems to have been in place since jan when jimmy was supposed to be off to sheff unied. its a deal which makes zero sense for all the above reasons , would think he will want a 3 year deal at his age as well and similar money also .

He's operated at levels far higher than Jimmy Dunne, even playing a decent number of games in the premier league, as well as being part of teams that have consistently finished higher than QPR in the championship. Is a better right-back and has in the past played as a central-defender when required in emergencies. Is also very much a QPR academy product. [Post edited 8 May 9:58]

Jimmy Dunne on 17:35 - May 7 by sparkey | Pretty well documented that he wanted another 1-2 years on his contract, and we said no. Besides, we should have got this wrapped up end of last year when nobody was in for him and he would have signed. Arrogance from the club (and yes, Nourry) leaving it to the last minute, by which point his head was turned / had been shown interest by clubs with higher ambition. Incompetence. |
Was that the end of last year when it looked like we might be in L1? Not stirring, just think if we had handed out a long contract with a pay rise and got relegated then it would have been really bad for the club

I know they're claimed to be a mechanism for preventing clubs from racking up crippling debts, but the S&P rules have ended up being one of the world's stupidest handicapping systems. The weaker the club, the greater the handicap. Genius!

How do you know this as fact ??? If you can't corroborate what you are saying here as a fact, am inclined to only accept this as hearsay to match up with an agenda. Not seen anywhere, where it has been evidenced that the club have offered Jimmy a new deal.. And if he does leave, it would be on a free also, so your words incorrect regards that also....... I don't think I have an agenda. I don't think anyone on this board has seen the players contracts, so we are talking about what we think based on our own experiences. Who knows the real truth We've got to remember that for the last two years we have flirted with relegation at various points. This must have an impact in deciding when/who gets contract extensions. I really like Jimmy Dunne, there is absolutely no argument he has been one of the better players in our squad and his stats put him at the top of the whole division. But if the Chairman, CEO/DoF are saying that we need to be a developing and selling club then that means we sign more players like Morgan, Varane and Morisson with an idea that we make them better and sell them for profit. There is an argument that giving a long contract to an older player is the opposite of this plan. We are not in court I don't have to corroborate anything to you! ;D Is everything you write a fact, that has been verified by two independent sources? Grow up

I'd be very happy to get Furlong back. Always thought of him as future captain material before he left. Can't really begrudge Dunne wanting to play at a better club/higher level (although I think Prem is a bit of a stretch). Certainly a very good Championship defender.
