Thought he deserved a thread on what is likely to be his last game for us . His form has had some ups and downs but he has given us some brilliant memories . His attitude today was superb and professional . He was screaming at his team mates for more effort today , I looked at the clock 10 seconds of added time to go . Fantastic attitude . Thanks Jim
They were meant to show that on TV until last minute they showed bahwatch.
I was visiting my mum for her 50th birthday that weekend and thankfully the Port Vale match was shown where she lives (it’s ITV Meridian or whatever it’s called down there)
Definitely deserves a thread of his own. I will be gutted if he goes, which sadly, I think is likely.
I haven’t given up hope completely, but suspect that’s the last we will see of him in the hoops.
If the rumours were true that the sticking point on a new contract was an extra year, then more proof that whoever* is running our recruitment is not up to the job.
In terms of last gasp goals, Bircham's last minute winner at Brentford in the 2003 play off season was pretty special. Celebrated so hard I was out of breath.
If he leaves I'm sure charlieb will be along to tell us that Jimmy wasn't really all that popular and was really rude to the lunch lady one day.
He's been a great player for us, he plays like he's one of us and that's high praise. I'd love him to stay. I remember after the Sheffield United game at home Chris Wilder was straight up in his ear after the game, I fear they'd be back in for him whichever league they end up in, especially as Rob Holding is only on loan.
He’s had his ups and downs over the last few years, but who in this squad hasn’t? Relatively few have even had any ups in the first place.
Performing brilliantly the week of his father’s death, switching to right back without complaint and making such a success of it, that goal against Birmingham… he’s been a brilliant servant to the club during a very chaotic period.
I find it baffling that the owners haven’t moved heaven and earth to tie him down to a new contract. If he goes, as I think he will, I suspect we’re going to miss him a lot.
For me, he would only be offered terms at a club in a very similar position to ourselves.
He deserves more money.
Why can't we at least attempt to keep him.
We are supposedly keeping Cook so why not Jimmy too.

When you look at the stats for this season any team with a data appeoach to recruitment will want him, he is up the top for chances on goals, headers won, tackles won etc Any team coming down ansd whoever misses out in the playoffs should be trying to get him

I hope he stays but he won't be short of offers
Maybe then to the mighty Bristol City, to link up with old rangers boys such as Dickie, Armstrong and Wells.
For me, that would be a sideways move and if we did not offer Dunne improved terms on a par with what a club like Bristol City would offer, really we should be able to bump up the wages a little for a player that has performed well for us and been very versatile also.
The increase in wages would not be massively different, for it to be unaffordable.
A brilliant player and leader for QPR and more importantly a brilliant human being too. He'll be very difficult to replace if and when he goes.
In terms of last min goals, its probably worth also mentioning our other seemingly outgoing FB Kenneth Paal's one against Huddersfield last season which kept us from being cut adrift in the bottom 3. Although it didn't seem too important at the time as we looked down and out. He obviously won't been seen in the same light as Jimmy and divided opinion, but I thought he did pretty well overall as our only LB capable of playing Championship level football for 3 years and I wish him well with wherever he decides to go next too.

Sends out a poor message about the club for me .

Bristol City posted a turnover of £42.4m in 2024 which is £16m more than ours.
Their wage bill came to £34.9m. Ours was £23.8m.
They are able to - and do - outspend us very, very heavily. We can’t get close to competing with them financially and stay within P&S limits.
Not sure where you get the conviction that wages they could offer wouldn’t be massively different or unaffordable. The accounts say exactly the contrary.

Yes that was an important goal in retrospect. Game had been so disappointing and on way out remember telling some Hudds fans they would be alright and we were definitely going down! They're now mid table in League One the poor sods. Could just as easily have been us.

More than likely. But if Sheff U blow the playoffs, as they normally do, all he'd be.joining them for is the money.
JD deserves a shot at the PL, but not convinced he'll be good enough. However, if he does go to a PL club, most of us would wish him thanks and good luck.

He's a similar player to Damien Delaney
Irish 26/27 years old when with us Predominately centre back but played out of position (if memory serves me he was used a lot at left back)
Many fans thought Delaney was not very good with us but he went on to appear over 100 times in the Premier League. I think Jimmy is more than capable of making the step up, not forgetting he has already player Premier League football before so not exactly new to him.
I'd love Jimmy to stay, but there is absolutely no way he is. When he leaves as a free agent he will get higher wages, a longer deal and a signing on fee.
If anyone thinks a love of coffee on the Chiswick High Road trumps that they need to give their head a wobble.
He probably wouldn't even care if he didn't play every week, sorry, but most footballers are motivated by money and days off.
Saying all that, I really think that the owners should bend the model and try and keep Jimmy by offering what he wants. I think his attitude is a million times better than other players have been in the same situation, at no point has he downed tools. If anything he's been playing better

Good sensible sum up.
We can't afford him. There are plenty of clubs in this division who can offer him a deal worth a £million more to him. He is a model pro but he's not a right back - we need to use our meagre resources to get some defenders across the whole back line, not blow it all on Jimmy.

We should be competing with clubs like Bristol City, not a few rungs down.
If our overall wage bill was £23.6 million, another £0.2 million a year for Dunne or less, is not going to break the bank.
We would have to fork out way more than £0.2 million more to get in a equally effective player in terms of transfer and wages combined. It would cost us way more than simply offering Jimmy a suitable pay rise .
Hence the suggestion to go all out to keep Jimmy. He is that important for ourselves.
And the fact that Bristol outdo us in terms of turnover etc, shows how poorly run our club is.
Being in London, we really should be making way more money than we do. That's down to the club being poorly run also.
It really should not be that Bristol City are a much bigger club than ourselves anyhow.
