OK, cards on the table, this *is* my favourite and that's saying something because in my long years on this planet, I have accumulated a waste collection of rambling tunes.
For me, it's the best rock song ever, there is so much going on in there, including surprises (like at 7 minutes 11 seconds), umpteen different styles, theatrics, virtuoso playing, changes of tempo, dissonant sections, poignancy, but - and this is where it stands out from most other songs - there is humour too.
As a musician, how on earth you remember all the different parts of a 15 minute plus opus, I'll never know.
Anyway, writing about music is like dancing about architecture, as someone far more intelligent than me once said, so I'll end there.

My old band had a song like this and we scrapped it in the end because no one could learn it!
