Andy Sinton celebrate 10 years as club ambassador 11:01 - Jun 15 with 2290 viewsbosh67

https://www.qpr.co.uk/news/2025/june/15/andy-sinton-ten-years-as-club-ambassador

I've told this story before but when my dad (a life long supporter) died at the start of the pandemic, a friend told Andy what had happened and he phoned me to have a chat. It was honestly such a surprise and he was on the phone with me for over half an hour to talk about my dad and also QPR and all sorts of things. It was absolutely above and beyond and I know he has done this a number of times. He is a shining light at our club and I often think he should be in the dressing room more often before games to give motivational talks because he really embodies everything this club is about.

To ten more years Andy. Thank you for everything you do!

Never knowingly right.

Brilliant news - well done Andy. The 'Sinton Scream' is now an essential part of Rangers life. Great stuff.

Great story about Andy there Bosh.Tough times and brilliant for Andy to ring you in that moment.

I lost both my parents in the first year of the pandemic and even friends and other distant family members generally don't ring or mention whats happened, as they frightened of saying the wrong thing so when a relative outsider such as Andy Sinton does this, that's sheer class.

And they are not easy conversations to have , as most bottle up for fear of upsetting the person, when in reality, you really do just want someone to ask "hows things"

Yes, and he works very hard for us; is great at the presentations; and interviews he does; and stuff he does behind the scenes and enjoy his passionate desire for us to do well, which shines through in his commentaries live online also.

Yes, and his goal celebration roar will become iconically linked with ourselves forevermore. No doubt.

Very good club man indeed.

We are very very lucky to have him !!

This seems like an appropriate moment to apologise for bellowing out "We all agree, Sinclair is better than Sinton!" on his return with Sheff Weds.

I assume we will never know if he’s extended his stay for another period of time :-) ?

Seriously, he’s just the best on Comms - from a fans perspective anyway. The two of them balance each other out nicely now on QPR+.

As a person, it sounds like he excels in his humanity. Something missing from many current and ex-footballers.

Proud he’s one of us for many reasons.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

And he wasn't. Sinton is hands down the best winger I've ever seen at our club.

First game 81, so missed the Dave Thomas years

That's honestly really lovely Bosh. Like Numpty said , making that sort of phone call is no easy thing to do, even for someone close.

Sinton is such a good egg, may he continue representing the club for many years to come.

I love Andy Sinton because his obvious personal values - positivity, kindness, and empathy - are so needed in a football club. I can't see any reason why he shouldn't stay with us for many more years.

They actually had fairly similar records of apps and goals, but he probably was - sorry, Andy, even though you clearly cut the mustard and more as a player and are as great an ambassador as Alpha Centauri in 1970s Dr Who! I can't imagine AS (or just about any player) scoring a goal like that superhuman effort v Barnsley for one thing. Plus, Tricky Trev also creamed it in the hair stakes!

Are you saying Trev was hirsute ?

At 15, I always had nicknames for everyone in that squad - Macca, Bards, Willo, Ray (no nickname there son), Ollie, Royston, etc.

I went to a hospitality game and there was Andy, getting involved. I told him exactly what I've put above and he says (in the most lyrical Middlesbrough accent) "Well what did you call me?"

I goes "Sinners" and 35 years I'm not sure if he's happy or not 🤷‍♂️

Probably the best winger I've ever seen at Rangers.

Right up there in my top five favorite players in the last 50 years.

If there was anyone else that embodies the role of Ambassador better that Sints I've yet to see it.

A true legend.

He took absolute pelters that day. I still feel guilt about that.

A quality player who played for England as a QPR player!

Scored on his home debut and slotted straight into a top-level side as if he were a seasoned squad player.

Also, a rarity, could play with both feet and with pace and cross a ball.

Single-handedly won us the match in that 4-1 victory at Old Trafford.
Scored the first and set up the others for that Bailey hat-trick.

Oh yeah, nice bloke as well.

zzzzzzzzzz

One swallow doesn't make a summer. Trev was good, but Andy was pure class. No comparson really.

Technology advances, unfortunately humans do not.
