He doesn't want to sell, but many rich people would love to own this club, that's clear. He confirms that he has had many enquiries. He comes across as committed and passionate for success, yes. BUT, he still talks of data, science, Ankerson still having an input, making a profit, excuses about VAR, doing things differently, developing talent, blah bla blah. I'm not convinced.

Big season ahead. He and the club need to get it right or things will be very very toxic against them.

I thought he came across well. Was very angry about Wilcox leaving. Im not sure about VAR denying us 8 points under Martin.
It sounds like he has learnt from the mistakes made.

Learnt from the mistakes. How many times have we heard that? Ankerson is still here. We are still buying young players for less than 5 million. Still appointing unknown, inexperienced managers as an experiment. Time will tell. Big season ahead.

That interview shows some worryingly irrational decision making. He says that VAR cost us 8 points by Xmas because of their mistakes and if that hadn't happened then RM would still be in charge of the team. Really?? If he's right that VAR cost us the points then he's saying that RM was sacked because some other random individual in the VAR booth made a mistake. That makes no sense at all. If it wasn't RM's fault then he shouldn't have been sacked.

In reality RM's tactics cost us more points than VAR did. Fortunately for Saints 2 wrong decisions by Sport Republic made a right one and RM was sacked. But it's hard to be confident about how they make decisions having heard this. Is Will Still going to be sacked this year because the Ref gets it wrong and there is no VAR to correct him?

Finishing the season with just 12 points says it all.

If that’s the case, why did they not flood in with bids prior to Sport Republic buying us? It was known then that Gao was up for selling as the restrictions he had been placed under made it a challenge for him.

Heard all this before about x, y and z being interested but funny old thing, only Markus was one who took us on (thereafter Gao and SR). Easy to say loads of people want us, but proof is in the pudding.

By the way, have not read or heard the Solak interview

Your right , this coming season could be defining.
Personally I'd say Dragon and SR have 2 seasons what with the parachute payments to get us on track again.

He did admit that not replacing wilcox sooner was a big mistake. But didn't mention all the other mistakes.
Well let's hope they've learned. He seems a good guy and we all want the club to be successful.

In Solak's interview, he confirms that he had contact with people wanting to buy the club, as soon as a rumour went out that we were up for sale. Before Sport Republic took charge, this is what Martin Semmens said, and I am trying to find the quote where he says that there were many wealthy individuals "but that we wouldn't like them". In other words, they were rich Saudis for example, but morality would mean we dont like them?

"Turn away the wrong options". Hmm in their opinion.

There was probably some self-interest in Semmens’ stance.

Along with his buddy Toby Steele, he was kept on by Solak.

Until things went pear-shaped in the first relegation season.

A.N. Other might have got rid of Semmens and Steele straight away after acquiring the club.

If I remember correctly- and Nick will know I’m sure - the other interested party around the time SR bought us were yanks not Saudis

Sorry but I just hear more bullshit from Dragan.

Why should this latest “ we’ve made mistakes but will learn from them” be any different then the others.

Within 6 months of taking us over Dragan had fvcked us up. Forced a load of new coaches on Hasenhüttl, made him change the style of play, didn’t buy a striker from that moment on we were doomed. By the end of Dragans 1st full season he had Sacked all the coaches he brought in and went on to appoint his 4th manager.

The bit about VAR and costing Martin is job is crazy beyond belief.

I tend to agree with you. Hope I'm wrong. 6 managers in 3 years, 2 relegations. All of a sudden, he has learnt. I still don't hear " We will invest robustly in proven quality players, experienced in the championship, experienced in England, to ensure we get back to the PL instantly. We are highly ambitious for success." Instead we are still buying young inexperienced foreign players like the latest defender we have just brought in. He is just another player to develop, who isnt there yet and likely will never get there. He still talks of Ankerson and investing in young players. He did talk of the need for investment, if we did manage to get promoted again, it sounds like he has at least admitted that we would need to invest in quality players if we went up again. We shall see.

Dragan Solak also appointed Johannes Spors who is quietly getting things done by appointing a new manager and soon an assistant coach . Will Still has come in who is said to be one of the best in Europe, we’ll soon find out about that .People who admit their mistakes like Dragan has and are determined to put things right usually succeed in life.

I think we are now about to see movement in the transfer market with money coming in for Tall Paul. Dragan has said that Spors is working on signing a creative midfielder and a striker.

Mr Solak obviously loves this club, let’s get behind him. I have good vibes about all this .

You are right we have to move on with what we have, not what we could have had.

Those who move forward ultimately succeed in life, those that keep moaning about the past and what could have been, are never satisfied.

Of course there should be scepticism, that is only natural, but we have to look at it pragmatically as well, some things like Wilcox leaving where beyond Solak's control, obviously other things weren't and mistakes were made.

But they have to be given the chance to put it right, if only because there is no other choice,

That quote about "VAR being responsible for the sacking of RM" is such a ridiculous thing to say.
If that's the case " thank God for VAR or we'd still be stuck with RM".
But comments like that coming from the owners just about sums up where we are as a club.

I think you're 100% spot on Semmens was in the proverbial "turkey voting for Xmas" spot. I think he was hoping to be kept on but probably knew he was punching well above his weight and would be cast aside. His salary was about GBP 1 mn, so every month he dragged it out he made another 83 grand.

If your Auntie was your Uncle she’d get offered a job as a match commentator on the revamped MOTD next season (God help us) as it ticks so many boxes at the BBC 😀
