"The Project" 08:14 - Jun 29 with 2041 viewsswisscottage

What is this mysterious project we keep hearing mentioned in interviews?

All we hear is "The Project".

What is it about "The Project" that is attracting new players to sign?

What is it about "The Project" that is enabling us to keep hold of our better players even though they could make more money elsewhere?

Please Mr Nourry enlighten us with your AI words of wisdom about this all conquering Project and why it is the best thing since Raquel Welch in 1 million years BC.

Sorry, informing the plebs about 'the project' is not included in the project.

When you reach the place beyond thoughts, the only thing you'll find is love and the only purpose of life becomes to ease the suffering of others.

It’s the football equivalent of Fight Club

And we all know the first rule of Fight Club…

It has been a noticeable phrase mentioned in every interview... its like Nourrychatgpt has started influeing everyone around it. Is it taking over? Was it developed by cyberdyne systems? Should we be scared?

Why stop now, just when I'm hating it

I hope it includes trying to win cup games so 2/3 of our season isn't wasted.

It isn't a new term. Managers, coaches and players have used it for years although I agree that all our new signings mentioning it is a bit strange. Must be a NourryGPT infection.

I've asked the same question a few times recently and no one seems able to enlighten me.

I'm getting an image in my mind of a 1970s TV show about a shadowy organisation operating outside the mainstream with minimal oversight or defined objectives beyond being told to act for the greater good. I'm probably not too far from the truth with QPR.

It is currently a football buzz word as dmm eludes to.

It may refer to a preferred style of play, it may refer to coaching young players and furthering their careers. The main part will be to win football matches, get promoted and win cups.

Pretty much the same project as all of the other professional football clubs.

I would like to think that our wonderful training facility is playing a part in persuading players to sign for us.

Promotion. Built around young players, world vlass training facilities, world class coaches, player specific coaching and medical team.
Young player pathway and development with promise to be sold if attractive bids come in (Eze style).

Get everything right off the pitch and you'll attract and retain your better players.

Easy.

Poll: How is Nourry cooking so far ? 🤣

It's hardly a Nourryism, Nourry-haters! Unless you've been under a footballing rock for years, it's used widely across the football pyramid. But no less mystically for that.

I recall that Paulo Sousa used that term when he took charge

Sad;y the first time I heard this term with regards to QPR. it was when we hired the wonderful welshman Mark Hughes.

He said he was very invested in the project here.

Well that time, the project went extremely well - or perhaps not.

It is coming across like quite a few of these players are falling for lines fed to them, which suggest that this club has "joined up thinking".

I think modern players are more invested and interested in data too, so terms thrown at them in negotiations have had an effect of brain washing them.

Now if Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, Vinicius jr and Lamine Yamal can readjust their future timeline and invest in our project, then that would be most agreeable !!!!!!!!

As long as the terminology, "four year plan", doesn't get thrown around, we are safe for now...

I think the project is sold as...

Never knowingly right.

Pro-ject the project.

Clearly there’s a bias in the model for this.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

I think the projection for the project is to project it at every opportunity as well as strong projection slide shows to enforce projected values and project aims.

It’ll work.

New QPR film innit?

I'm sure Danny Paddox has created the poster for it.

It doesn't matter who you are, you need to put a slide deck together that highlights a masterplan that involves:

* winning a lot more games
* losing a lot less money
* signing players for £400 and selling them to Chelsea 12 months later for £2bn
* fielding 10 academy players every week by the 27/28 season
* establishing an identity that sees all sides from U6 academy to first XI playing suicidal balls out from the back
* increasing social media followers to at least 85% of the global population by Christmas
* winning the Champions League within 3 seasons, even if you're currently playing at Step 6.

If you produce a PowerPoint deck with the above goals on it, I guarantee a club at some level will appoint you to be their CEO, DOF, or first team coach by the end of the season. Whether it's a PL club or someone in non-league will depend on how passionate you sound when talking about the project. Football without projects is nothing.

Fulham FC: It's the taking part that counts

It was started around the Falvio era, as I recall.
It's also the wrong word to use, as a Project should be closed down to start a new one later on.

What you want instead is a Product, as a Product like Coca-Cola (QPR) goes on forever, regardless of whether you have side versions such as Diet, Zero, Cherry, (winning teams, bad versions).

The problem with the word Product is that you have to ensure you sustain, maintain and evolve it. It has to get better, or people will go off your Product or get something cheaper (Lidl Coke/Tooting Bec).

That means you have to deliver quality for the Product, but with the Project, you can say that one didn't work, let's try another, and cover up the long-term messes.

zzzzzzzzzz

About 9 months ago I commented that I'd love to know what the boy wonders strategy for the club is, it appears players who have been in the door 5mins know what the project is, so perhaps he'd be good enough to grace lifelong fans with the same detail at a fans forum.

Some positive news in the last week , so maybe he's building up to the big reveal

That's the sort of passion I'm looking for. Worst case scenario, we're sacked by November and we just update the slides and go again. When we're presenting, we just need to emphasise how much we're planning to align the fu ck out of everything and instil an identity at the club. What will our legacy be? Good question... a team full of local lads playing in an exciting, instantly recognisable way, and winning every game 10-0, in front of a packed house chanting the name of the club's owner.
