I don't think that's fair. He's been no worse than anyone else.

That's fine, it's an opinion. I thought Morgan was a long way off it too but got involved, at least to the extent a Brentford player had a dig at him.

I thought the same about Morgan. He hasn't hit his straps since last season's purple patch. Still, he's young and should progress.

Today's run out, didn't exactly fill me with a lot of hope for the coming season.
We played the same as we did last season, a lot of huff, but no puff.
We desperately need to get in 1 or 2 strikers.

On the other hand I feel strongly that something is cooking.

Big Julie is chopping it all up and next week he's going to chuck it all in whatever a french frying pan is called and make us all whatever is the french word for our dinner.

What that dish will be, and whether or not it's edible, or even safe to eat is another story.

Something is cooking.

At the moment it's half baked.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Werder Bremen want him on loan.

Wer-der euros changing hands ?

Bite them hands off.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

A lot of concern for Brentford on this thread.

I’d be a bit more concerned about how we look right now .
A couple of tiny flashes of one touch progression to the half way line aside , we look way off to me .
Way, way off.

Still, that’s pre season done .
It all starts again now .
The butterflies, the excitement , the working out what ‘lucky’ underwear to wear. We win a game then don’t win for 15 games but still persist with them because they are ‘lucky’ 🤣.
The ding dongs on here . Who’s rubbish? Who’s not?
Who should be playing ? Will JCS ever play again ?
Will we ever take a decent corner ever again?
Will we ever make a signing that isn’t for our DS squad ?
Will Ilias keep the ginger tint for the whole campaign?
It’s going to be a rough , tough long hard season ahead.

Can’t wait .

I think a congratulations on celar becoming a Dad is a minimum.

I remember us thrashing man united and we was all thinking we was going to be going up

No need to panic the aim again next season will be to survive and im sure we will be okay again this season.

I know this is in jest, but the 'lucky underwear' did just take me back to my early years of supporting QPR

Welcome to Rangers Burrell ! We rate you so highly, you can’t get minutes in a friendly ahead of us playing no striker at all…

Noticeable (by my eye) by his absence in yesterday’s training session, so might be looking after him

Watched all of pre season and we look way off for me also. Team gives me Ainsworth vibes. No discernible style of play, hit channels, and give it away for fun.

Gulp.... wasn't going to say it, but you've said it for me... agree with all those points.
It's all well and good to have this pseudo methodical approach to promoting from within and playing the youth but that was a long way from convincing me we have enough to maintain mid table supremacy....

Crikey no where near that, i would say.

Takeaways today for me.

Field was very solid and Varane returning could be the most important thing for me.
No centre forwards on, although Bennie still managed a decent impression

Cook looks done to me.

Morrison was decent and initially i was alarmed by Larkeche, but he improved and played a good game.

Difficult to assess Poku, Chair and Dembele with no centre forward and Morgan out of position.

Liked Adamsons energy and Sutton impressed.

Walsh had a good game.

We held.a premiership team after minute one.

More positives than negatives. See where we go with an actual centre forward though.

The issue with (lack.of) strikers is the obvious problem.
What are the chances of getting Celar, Frey or Kolli fit? Will Ba ever get a visa? Is Burrell going to get fit enough for the Championship? Is there any chance of finding someone else (Nkada?) fitter and better?

A whole pre season with almost no strikers is nuts and getting a bit old now.

Aside from the absent Frey, Kolli, Celar and Lloyd we also didn’t have JCS, Smyth, Vale and most of Varane today.

We’ve actually got a chunky squad of potential starters now but half of them aren’t starting games

I only saw chunks of the game but feels like we’ve got good spirit and effort - if we can sort the perennial sicknotes, trim the fairly large squad through loans and GET A FKIN STRIKER we might have a decent season

Actually, Vale was a late substitute yesterday but there was no Esquerdinha or Akindileni both of whom played in previous games.

Why are these players not in the matchday squad? Another case of fans not being communicated with that annoys me no end.

With Preston a week a way I can understand the club being tight lipped on a player if they are touch and go for Saturday to keep opposition guessing etc .

But I think the club really should be letting us know about what is wrong with someone like Frey , for example . Unless I've missed it of course .
But he hasn’t played a single minute of pre season , there is no way he will be available for Saturday, so give us a clue to when he might return for god sake .

Wasn't an amazing run out and the squad still looks thin, but some positives to take away:

- Madsen looks much improved, and gets involved defensively. He's still too static (especially from goal kicks) but he's no longer the obvious luxury player.

- There were some nice moves that seemed close to coming off with one-touch, and might have come off against worse opposition. Brentford were a big step up though.

- Both Larkeche and Adamson show signs of improvement. I'm not too scared of going into the season with Larkeche (but after Esquerdinha's outburst on Twitter I worry behind him) and I'm nervous about Adamson's rawness as a backup, but the improvement is there.

- Walsh made some good saves which will do his confidence a world of good. Feel a bit bad for Nardi who's been great for us, but understand the logic.

- Sutton came on and looked lively. I reckon he's a DS player who could make the step up this year to be in and around the squad. I'd rather have him playing than a Yang loan.

Some negatives too IMO:

- Midfield is too static. Field looked better as a CB than as a midfielder to me. We seemed more mobile when Varane came on.

- We need a striker. Chair is wasted in that False 9 role (though it seems to suit Bennie?) and we have no out ball.

- Squad depth is still woefully thin. I know we want to be developing the DS players, but players like Pearman shouldn't be near the team yet. He's a good lad but needs time to develop rather than being used as backup. I know it's preseason so I'm not too worried but also if this is the kind of squad that we start against Preston then I think we're looking a bit desperate.

- Morgan looked poor, and did against Heerenveen too, which is where I'm reminded that he's still a young player who needs time to grow. I'm not convinced about him in this more advanced role as he often looks a bit lost. While I like Madsen deeper, I'd want Chair in the Morgan role behind a striker.

IMO we need a LB loan (but as a backup for me), some experience in midfield and another one or two strikers depending on the Celar situation. I know that the window runs until the end of the month but I think we need them in sooner rather than later. My only hope is that Preston are struggling in the way that we are for next week.

On the strikers, we’re in a league where Nathan Broadhead moves for £7.5m. It’s going to be a punt from abroad or lower leagues based on stats/scouting/finding a solution outside of the existing set of strikers. Maybe that is Burrell or Celar or Frey or someone else. Maybe Kolli’s dad shuts up for five minutes and he gets a run in the side up front and does it. Maybe none of those things happen but we aren’t buying a proven Champ striker and nor should we for the money. £4m for Kieffer Moore well past 30 ffs.

Agree. I’m still hopeful that we are getting in Ba plus 1 other this week with Celar moving on. Not sure what’s going on with Kolli. But hopefully then 1 of the 4 strikers will be able to start on Saturday.
