Them tomorrow Roll call....and match thread.... on 16:56 - Aug 2 by connell10 | Brentford look a very poor premiership side. |
Really......they contained us for 90 minutes, never broke ito a sweat, knocked the ball around reasonable well, did just what they had to......probably will be tough for them this year. I am more interested in us......very disappionted indeed, some of the players were very poor indeed, Manager is begining to worry me but it is early days for him. We will see, next week we must be 100 times better to get anything from the game.
Them tomorrow Roll call....and match thread.... on 17:03 - Aug 2 with 3849 views | loftupper | Awful game, scheduling Brentford as the last friendly is probably the worst decision the management team at the club have made for a while (since not divulging contract lengths..). Fans had no interest in it and it hasn’t set us up at all for next week. We don’t appear to have a first 11 yet, feels like it’s going to take us 10 games or so to get up and running.
Them tomorrow Roll call....and match thread.... on 17:03 - Aug 2 with 3834 views | stevec | So that’s an entire pre season practiced without a forward. And if we had had an available forward it would have come from one of the same school of four that showed up on a very occasional basis in 24/25. How this rag and bone outfit get away with it I do not know.
Them tomorrow Roll call....and match thread.... on 17:03 - Aug 2 with 3830 views | joolsyp | Positives: - we didn't get bummed in the gob - Jimmy - Morrison - Dembele - Walsh made some good saves. Still think he doesn't release the ball quickly enough - Illy chased everything and flew into a few tackles - Thought Larkeche did ok - 20 mins from Varane Negatives: - created little/no forwards - gave possession away far too easily first half - the starting midfield of Field, Madsen, Morgan looked weak We're still short a centre-forward, progressive midfielder and left-back to compete with Larkeche. Loan market? [Post edited 2 Aug 17:11]

Them tomorrow Roll call....and match thread.... on 16:58 - Aug 2 by eastside_r | Just caught the last 20 minutes, all a bit Meh. WTF were Brentford thinking with that kit. |
Same here. Was an awful dull watch from what I caught as well as thoroughly toothless without a recognised striker. Also agree with the poster who said Brentford fans should be worried. They didn't look any great shakes against a poor Rangers side

Them tomorrow Roll call....and match thread.... on 17:07 - Aug 2 with 3655 views | dmm | Obviously, playing without a striker meant there was no focal point in attack, and conceding so early knocked us back, but we slowly worked our way into the game and there were some positives. After a nervy start Walsh did well with 3 great saves in the second half. I think he needs game time for his confidence to grow. He'll need to do some work on his kicking though. Larkeche surprised me and played pretty well, as did Adamson when he came on. No one had a stinker. Morrison would be my MotM. He makes so few errors and must start. We were able to hold Brentford for long periods. Their squad is supposed to be worth something like £380m and you could tell the gulf in player quality for much of the time. That said, they weren't all that but |I think that's only their second preseason game. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Bang on. All this fawning over the management at the fans forum - yet our striker situation, which has been the case for YEARS, rumbles on. In fact, it is even worse than last year. Yeah, stick that in your data and your #8s moving into zone 4. Tripe.

This, I thought he was excellent. Quick, good close ball control, not afraid to get stuck in.

Big Julie is chopping it all up and next week he's going to chuck it all in whatever a french frying pan is called and make us all whatever is the french word for our dinner. What that dish will be, and whether or not it's edible, or even safe to eat is another story. [Post edited 2 Aug 17:33]

Them tomorrow Roll call....and match thread.... on 17:33 - Aug 2 with 2946 views | baz_qpr | Thoughts on my way back… We looked thrown together, I read Celar did not play as wife had baby today so perhaps we had trained for that. Brentford were quicker, stronger and more technically competent but I guess that is to be expected. We did not really seem to have much of a clue as to how we were attacking. Expected us to sit and break but was very mid block and Brentford broke the press easily. Whole left side, Cook, Larkeche, Dembele seemed very weak defensively. Positives: Sam Field at LCB was an immediate improvement, Cook is a long way off the player he was. Sutton was dangerous when he came on Madsen played alright and was progressive. Morrison really steady Chair looks full of beans and up for though no good for false 9 Concerns: Left Back - really not convinced by Larkech No strikers and leaving the one we had on the bench Surprised by the starting centre back pair and Mbengue being left out. Cook looks well off it. Adamson totally schooled at right back Here’s hoping that we did not want to show our hand to any visiting Preston scouts and we look more like a team with a clear plan rather than the thrown together sense of today.

Yep. That would have been encouraging for Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland. Every chance it won't be the 3 promoted sides coming back.

Worth bearing in mind they’re a week further out. On paper, if they lose Wissa especially, you’d think they’ll struggle but I’d trust their chairman more than most to have got it right. Didn’t watch today because it, IMO, means nothing.
Them tomorrow Roll call....and match thread.... on 18:04 - Aug 2 with 2406 views | Juzzie | Livened up last 5 mins when with so many subs on both sides it looked more like a Championship game. Otherwise a fairly forgettable match, even for a preseason friendly.
Them tomorrow Roll call....and match thread.... on 18:05 - Aug 2 with 2393 views | extratimeR | Watching Brentford today, was reminded of the old Jurgen Klopp comment when told they were up next, " Oh god! Corners, goal kicks and throw ons" ( I might add drop balls now with their new Manager), if that's what Brentford have to offer I would be very nervous if was a Brentford fan, numbingly boring, ( as usual) but looked very top six Championship.

After that I'd say Brentford are in real trouble. Once that team broke up and Frank's moved on it was always going to be a big problem. I'd say they are one if the three to be relegated. On us. We look OK. Need a couple more ST, which are incoming. Adamson is shocking, even as a backup. Larkeche another who looks out of place. Cook looks battered. Expect two new ST, Celar out and LB on loan.

Them tomorrow Roll call....and match thread.... on 18:29 - Aug 2 with 2038 views | soops | A couple of people impressed by Sutton - I would have liked to see him further up the pitch to create a bit of danger - Brentford defenders were far too comfortable. But maybe that’s just because I wanted to see some more attacking intent - I don’t know, maybe actually having a striker on the pitch at some point. Not overly enamoured with Walsh’s long ball down the middle - the tactic seemed to be don’t challenge for it (as there was no striker) so just try and win the second ball 🤔
