How much would you be willing to pay for Saito? With a 5m asking price from Lommell and the vultures circling (Birmingham), what do you think is a fair price?

For me, I'm dropping no more than 1.5m with some addons (maybe up to 3m?). I love him and we spent last season getting him used to Champ football, but it's not a position of need for us, he's pretty small which potentially limits his resale value, and so I doubt we'd easily make much more than that back any time soon (even with his high upside).

Yeah, not much more than 2 mil for me. He's in the 'nice to have' category. I'd rather see us continue with the more height, power and pace theme of our buys this summer than get Saito, we need a LB and CM way more than another small wide player. If Birmingham are interested that probably prices us out of it anyway i'd have thought, unless Spurs or Arsenal finally make an Eze bid today!

Like him. But with Dembele,Poku, chair, smith it just seems like a luxury we can't afford.
LB and box to box midfielder should be our priority now.

I wouldn't bid anything. Nice lad, tried hard but not worth the fee+wages we need to cover the other massive gaps in the squad.

If Poku is out for a long time, then £1-1.5 million
If Poku is okay, I honestly wouldn’t bother. You don’t pay £5M just because someone plays with a smile on their face

£500, but no more than £1000 as I am a pensioner and don't have a lot of money.

The grass is always greener.

He'll as ever go close to the market value. Unfortunately the likes of Birmingham seem to push that way up by paying daft prices. But that £5 million is speculation. He's a great player and Smith and him are the only ones of our wide players who do a good job supporting our backs. Poku is injured now and has history. I don't think Sutton is quite ready to be a regular starter. The Manager has said Chair will play central. So I'm hoping Birmingham go for someone else and he returns to us as he apparently wants. If he adds more assists and goals now he's more used to the Championship his value will increase.

He's so much more than 'tried hard, nice lad'. I find it bizarre that people can't recognise the exceptional skills he brought along with incredible attitude and workmate. He's two footed, can score goals, and has insane one on one skills.

By the end of last season he was our best player. Leeds game being an example.

I'd say £3 million is a fair price, £2 million would be a very good deal.

The guy is on the brink of being a Japan international. He's a proper player.

I think his stature is fine, he's not a total midge, it's pace he lacks and that stops him being a top top player.

I'd sign him. £5million worth it, in my opinion.
Some of our fans have very short memories. It was only a couple of days ago, we fielded a team of children in a competitive first team game, because of injuries, or worse still, the fear of injuries.
Nah, plenty of room in our piss poor squad for a quality player like Saito.

Pluck a fictitious number and allege Brum are considering paying £5m for a currently injured player. Nonsense.

I liked him when he was here last year but in terms of goals and goal assists, key measures that enable you to gain points, he wasn't much better than Smythe by way of those contributions. Dembele's and Kolli's were better and they played far fewer games.

Not for me, we have more pressing areas that need to be addressed.

£5m? Where will the money come from and if we have that we have other areas we need to fill, as much as I like him too.

I’m hoping Steve Bould as his ex manager at Lommel has some influence, I’m assuming they got on but can’t imagine anyone not getting on with Saito

Sign him quickly for whatever we can afford, if we don’t we’ll be regretting it for the next few years. All of the criticisms apply to the start of last season but what’s impressive is the way he’s worked on these problems. He’s learnt how to deal with defenders twice his size by just avoiding them. No need for confrontation he’s got quick feet and a clever footballing brain. If he improves half as much this season as he did last we’re going to have a real star. Please don’t let him slip through our hands.

Strong and stable my arse.

This. Surely don’t need another ‘small winger’, great attitude though, useful cover and could fit straight in if we do have injury problems.

£2m for a position we don't really need to strengthen isn't a good deal. It's like my missus coming back from the same and saying the £100 shoes she bought reduced from £500 are a bargain (despite her having 6 pairs of identical shoes already).

Change "Japan" to "Ireland" and you could just as easily be describing Jimmy Dunne.

I really liked him last season but fear he's a 1 trick pony with his feint and dash past his man to the byline that saw him score that great goal at Hull. He's done that a few times.

Having said that, I do love a player who will always put in 100% and Saito is such a man. Get him in if the finances can handle the fee.

I like Saito and would welcome him back. Maybe with the strikers we have signed this season, his run to the byline and the cutbacks to the edge of the 6 yard box will produce more shots on target / goals.

Extra mature cheddar......a simple cheese for a simple man

He's 24 so if you are signing it it is with a view that after this season Chair may want to move on to higher things. I can see him being able to step into that role if need be. Chair will be 28 and if we don't do much this season I would imagine at that age that he may think, perhaps this is my last chance at a bigger club? Who knows.

Never knowingly right.

Absolutely how I feel also. May be a 1 trick but it did work. If you watch some modern football in the EPL you'll realise how refreshing it is to see your attacker not afraid to take on the defender. Dembele has earned his right to play but Saito and Poku on each wing would be a great watch

Is our squad that poor? If we have everyone fit, does Saito start? Surely Poku, Dembele and Chair are the first choice. It’s a big fee for a player to be on the bench. The parachute clubs and Wrexham and Brum can afford to pay 5m for a player like that, not sure we can or should. I would like him back though. 2m with add-ons sounds more like it.

If that’s meant to be a good analogy you’ve sorely failed

(a) you can only wear one pair of shoes at a time. We have two to three attacking midfield positions and 3 games a week. And he’s light users ahead of Smyth and Sutton, and indeed Kolli when he plays wide

(b) this is down to a matter of opinion but if the new shoes are better than all her other shoes then they might well be worth it. I think Saito has standout attributes no one else has

(c) if your wife’s shoes could get her promoted to a better role or job than she currently has, they’d more than pay back her investment. Saito could do that

(d) your wife can’t sell on her shoes in a years time for 4 times what she paid for them

Lastly the Dunne comment… that’s just weird… you’re simplyproving my point. He is a mega important player for us and worth the money. So is Saito

Arjen Robben was a one trick pony. He did ok.

It doesn’t matter if it’s a really good trick

You could say the same about Chair

Non point IMO

I agree and like Saito. But 5m for a guy who will not be guaranteed starter. Seems too much. Sutton, Kolli, Vale, Smyth can all play in that role.

I agree, I said about that 2/3M would be worth it

Anyway I’m absolutely sure we don’t have 5M to spend so it’s a moot point.

If QPR sign Saito for 5M I’ll eat GroveR’s wife’s new shoes

They didn’t want him last season, so gave us him on loan.

Let Brum pay £5m for him, he’s not worth that.

If not, take him back on loan, eventually he’ll be free.
