In 20 odd years I don't think I've ever started one of these.
I'm thinking (hoping) we will go with a three man midfield this weekend, with Morgan, Field and Varane. Coventry scored five last weekend! We can't afford to concede too early, and will need to score first to get anything out of it IMO. An early Coventry goal, supporters getting aggy... gulp.
We all want a box-to-box no. 8, but these players are high value and not easy to sign on the cheap. He's young, and a bit slight, but I wonder if we need to start thinking about cultivating Morgan in this role as a long term solution? We know he can get stuck in, he's got bags of energy, and popped up with an absolute thunder-bastard last weekend.
Poku being out actually makes this an easier decision to make, because we can play Chair and Dembele either side of Burrell (or Kone if fit) without agonizing over who gets left out.
Presumably Dunne returns at RB, Esquardinho returns at LB, and Morrison and Mbengue start at CB.

Not all all confident in where we are just now however I’m not going to bleat on about how poor we are as some on this mb are doing.
We have to trust the process however coventrys squad have been historically together for a few seasons now

Only hope I can see is Coventry have their fair share of tiny tots and don’t put it about any more than we do.
That said, they’ll pepper our LB whoever that is this week and could run riot if that succeeds.

It does feel like we've nailed our colours to the mast a bit with these comments, and makes a climb down a bit more difficult. A bit more pragmatism and flexibility wouldn't go amiss.

Assuming Kone can't start and that Dunne and Varane can start, I'd go as below. I don't think we will go 3 in midfield, more likely Smyth starts instead of the extra mid, but I'd probably feel more comfortable with the 3 against a good side like Cov. Which I appreciate is exactly what the OP says. But I do agree.

Maybe Coventry didn't have to work hard for their goals but the crucial point is they took their chances and scored 5 away. In contrast we spurn our chances and rarely score more than two or three on our travels. Derby attacked Coventry and left lots of space so if we do the same and lose the midfield then Coventry will walk it.
Our manager will probably need to park the bus like Hull did on the opening day and escape with a 0-0. I think that is our only hope of getting anything |  | | |

We're still undercooked fitness wise as per the ~Ben Williams model". With few of the players having an uninterrupted pre-season, and few able to last 70 minutes let alone 90.
We've not played the same back 4 or even the same centre back partnership two games in a row, let alone having a settled back 4.
Because of the above, Julien Stephan still doesn't know his best side, or even the best formation and plan to employ with the players at his disposal.
It will be another month before this settles down and we're able to put any consistent decent performances together.
Up against one of the stronger non-parachute payment clubs in the division I can't see anything other than a comfortable win for Coventry. | | | |

We all know it’ll be 4-2-3-1 again.
The back four will have at least one change (hopefully Dunne back) but midfield will almost certainly include Madsen from the start so we can kill Field or Varane to death whilst covering.
Smyth will start if Poku isn’t available to provide cover for whichever side we need it on and Burrell will start up front, being subbed by Kone.
Dembele will get cramp and Celar will come on late in the game.

We're 5/1 for this. Biggest odds in a while.
If Dunne can start, freeing up Morgan to go into a 3-man central midfield and if we can somehow break even at left-back then there might be value here. If not, then it could be more of the first half at Watford.
