For me, go three at the back, five in midfield, two up front.
Nardi
Dunne
Mbengue
Morrison
Field
Varane
Hayden
Vale
Smyth
Burrell
Kone

Kind of how I would line it up but with N-D at left back

Nardi
Dunne Mbengue Morrison N-Davies
Varane Hayden Field
Smyth Kone Burrell

Bring Saito, Dembele, Vale and Kolli on as the game progresses and as needed.

Never knowingly right.

..............Nardi..............
Dunne...Mbengue..Morrison...RND
.........Field...Varane...Vale.......
Dembele....Kone......Smyth

This side - With Saito if ready in for Dembele

Dembele is woeful for me and I had concerns about him last season they have not been eased. And if over the injury then Chair in for Smyth.

Otherwise that looks a good line up.

All this lets play two up front, it wont happen, as someone pointed out it just wont happen.

Lots of these players you guys are picking are extremely unfit.

RND has played '57 minutes two weeks ago before going off injured for example.

I don't think Hayden has played since last season and Smyth, Vale, and Kone have only had bits here and there.

Smyth offer something defensively that we sorely need. Has to start.

Woeful is a huge exaggeration but it’s very true to say Dembele is not good on the right hand side. He simply cannot play there

Poku or Smyth on the right, only. Maybe Vale

4 at the back 4 in midfield and 4 up top, petition the league for a starting lineup based on aggregate height rather than number of arms and legs.

I'd go 4-3-3

Bring Nardi back in goal

Back 4 of Dunne, Mbengue, Morrison and the new fella whose name I've forgotten already

You go with a tough midfield of Varane, Field and Hayden with a front 3 of Saito, Kone and Dembele

scrap playing out from goal kicks look to be tough in midfield, protect the back 4 and have Varane and Field pushing forward to support Kone. Get the ball wide crosses in the box that kind of thing

The faster we start the better and I fancy us to win 3-1

If we try and play the game model again we'll get beat

No number 10? I think we'll struggle to break Charlton down but it might work if we go more direct and do better winning second balls in midfield.

Not sure Varane, Field and Hayden would be a good idea as a three.

Not exactly many defence splitting passes.

Might be good for a goalless draw....

How low is the bar that I'd happily take that right now?

Just desperate for the team to pull itself together and avoid a defeat to be honest - sounds like Charlton are no mugs.

I mean Saito and Hayden will be lucky to make the bench right - they’ve hardly played any football. Surely there’s next to zero chance of them playing given no preseason and that would be the right thing to do. They’ll possibly make the bench.

Of course if I missed something and they have had a preseason, by all means, start them, as we could do with them right now.

You're correct. Neither Hayden nor Saito has had a preseason. Hayden at least fully participated in training yesterday so he could make the bench. Saito didn't and I'd be surprised if he made the bench.

RND is fit to play - had a preseason and trained yesterday.

Kone should be able to play for an hour.

My team would be:

Nardi
Dunne
Mbengue
Morrison
RND / Esquerdinha
Hayden
Varane
Vale
Smyth
Dembele
Kone

Vale playing as the ball player, though I wouldn't be against Morgan in the role. Morgan seems better a little deeper to me though. At LB I think we could go either way, with the other on the bench. Smyth starts right and Dembele left for me, playing as wingers rather than as inside forwards. Saito could step in but I doubt he's ready. I also doubt Hayden is ready so I imagine it'll be Field and Varane in reality. I think Stephan has rightly realised that we can't play forward with Field and Varane together, but I'm not sure that Madsen is mobile enough to be honest.

Charlton Line Up on 08:10 - Aug 27 with 450 viewsgazza1

Kone will start.....100%

Big question who will play in goal....

Back 4......Dunne & RND, Morrison & one other (Cook or Menbengue)

Midfield is very tricky to judge......Field & Varane will start, Smyth wide, two others depending on fitness.

Kone up front

Charlton Line Up on 09:02 - Aug 27 with 386 viewsNorthantsHoop

The natives are restless, I would not rule anything out in terms of who starts, whether they have just joined and getting up to speed. Stephan cannot afford to lose this game and basically needs to win it, his future if he has one at QPR may well depend on this. Another pathetic display as at Watford and Coventry in particular and I think he is toast, you don't recover from big drubbings unless you adapt quickly.

I would drop Dembele. You cannot have a player in the team that refuses to work defensively. Not at the moment anyway.

Bingo we need 11 players starting who are theoretically fully fit and prepared to run their socks off or alternatively themselves into the ground.

Our crew have all been saying 3,5,2 for a while now. It would mean binning off the 10's but that is our problem right now we are to easy to play against.

Become more solid and play more direct with two forwards - It might not suit the "game model" but getting your arse handed to you regularly is starting to test the patience of the natives. And FFS stop that ludicrous goal kick routine.

Millwall know how to get points in this league and it isn't fannying about with the ball in our own half.

DO we have anyone in our midfield to produce defence splitting passes who are not an absolute liability without the ball
