Had a long chat with a Brum supporter today who says he’s well like there, but wants minutes.

I don't think we had one, it was £1m and bye bye.

He may need to be in the minutes to secure a spot in the Scotland team. You know, score a goal in a big international after McGinn does all the work.

Good luck to him; he did nothing wrong but be Dykes, and we got a decent fee for him.

Frustrating footballer, because you can't help think he could be so much more effective than he has been.

Definitely a trier, but the lack of goals for a number nine was hard to understand.

Started off well and especially for Scotland, but that was it....

Probably his level unfortunately. Great character and good attitude but a limited footballer

I do wonder whether Daniel Bennie might go down the same route as Dykes.

Has got more time though as he is still very very young..

Surprised that Celtic never went in for Dykes... he would have been a cheap option and always puts a shift in. Celtic short of forwards at present...

Well indeed.

Cheap for them, Scottish, he won't want to leave as many of them do. Useful from the bench when you're in the last 10, lumping balls in the box. Knows the league, knows the winters.

Also, sometimes useful against Euro teams who have never seen a player like Dykes before, which is why he got a few for Scotland, and combined with quality players like McGinn feeding him easy chances.

Then Celtic could get in the real attackers, and he will be happy to be a substitute.

Eh..

Don't think so.

Bennie not shown much yet apart from enthusiasm.

Dykes has been a regular player in Championship and League One for several seasons and a regular international, but despite his undoubted efforts, hasn't quite done it.

Don't understand your comment.

Again Bennie is as i said very young and Dykes is a seasoned professional and international.

Wasn't a criticism of Bennie, as he actually would need to progress to get to Dykes level. I just dont see him as a striker and not sure what his position is.

Seems that only one club ever thought he’s Championship standard.

For four years.

This - I always got the impression he and his family were immersed in QPR, to me he was limited but gave it everything he could, and the point about the pneumonia should never be underestimated, at a time when fully fit loanees were just lying on the ground for no reason.

Definitely shouldn't be underestimated what he did while ill.

Not the best, but he was what we could afford at the time, and he never hid, unlike some of those cowards like Tyler Roberts.

Hope he does well, and I'm sure he'll be back as a Forever R.
