We'd only require an additional 22.

Please no mention of the P word at this stage. Just dream about it. We will only jinx the progress we have made.

If we were level on points with 6th place at the end of February, then we would be in with a chance.

I know it's illogical and I'm in a tiny minority, but I'm happy with the Championship.

Tbh, at risk of being labeled as lacking ambition, I agree with you Colin. Whilst it does irk me to see the likes of Brentford and Fulham up there with that other lot, I feel that you sell your club’s soul chasing the Premier League ā€œdreamā€. The thought of being in PL being the cannon fodder for the ā€œbigā€ teams, have decisions go against us on a regular basis, not to mention VAR all in the hope that we don’t get relegated from the ā€œbest leagueā€ in the world that we have no chance of winning. And if were possible (!) we’d have even less interest in the cups to stay in the league.

Whilst things aren’t exactly equal in the Championship, it’s far more competitive, bottom can beat top on any given day and there is the sliver of a chance that we might do ok in it.

At risk of sounding like Kevin and Perry when being asked why they were adopting fake Mancunian accents, the Championship feels ā€œmore realā€!!

If the unthinkable/ridiculous happened, I think upgrading Hamer and we'd probably be all set to go.

I think we need to have 3 or 4 seasons where we sell at least one player for £10M + before we are ready. It's how Brighton and Brentford both did it. We aren't even close to being ready, and it would be awful. And then we would.come straight back down and look what happened to Luton.

The only thing I envy is the money those clubs have. The rest of it they can keep.

Agreed. Added to that when you're on TV there's the endless discussion about the other (admittedly bigger) team. In the unlikely event that we ever beat say Manchester City or Liverpool the entire debate would be about how they could have come back into the match or why they were sub-par. I barely watch the Prem these days as it's so nauseatingly biased.

I wish those "elite" clubs had created that European super league and fked off. Then we would have a proper league system like we used to, where pretty much any promoted team would have a chance in the top division. But as it stands, I can't stand the premiership. I don't watch MOTD anymore, I barely even look at the results, I just find the whole thing so totally over the top and vulgar.

By contrast, I think the Championship has got better and better, and the proof of that is all the prem fans who are into it now. So whilst I totally understand the desire to win and get promoted - like Colin and Leeds above, I'd rather we stayed in the champ. For now, at least. I'm sitll hoping they'll create that super league!

That’s partly down to a toothless, uncreative and ambitionless EFL. There’s so much to market about the Championship and they look for posh scraps. The ā€˜elite’ league however markets itself as fine dining with fine prices and everyone believes in ā€˜the emperors clothes’.

EFL needs overhauling. We have a good product. Build it, market it and money would come in. It doesn’t need to be an EPL, just use all the attributes this league has and sell it. Then give the money to the clubs to build. The fans will love it.

ok, fantasy football. if we go up, we will need to waste 150m-200m on average players who don't give a toss apart from their wages, agent and model wife.
then get tied to long expensive contracts with no get out clauses and get lumbered with huge bills for years after.
or do little , accept going down, grab the money and try and clear debts and invest in development squads.

I am another who couldn't give a fig about promotion to the Prem, and I haven't been for a long time.

The only reason I can see for going up would be to bank the dosh and use it to help fund a new stadium, but only if we could find a site in our manor.
1
club on 12:57 - Sep 22 with 837 viewsTheChef

Keep the squad that got promoted, maybe one or two additions. Go straight back down and pocket the huge amount of cash.

Just don't do what Pony Tony did and sign a load of expensive dross before the transfer window shut.

Yep agree with this, nice to have a promotion, but the pitfalls of wasting money on dross in the last effort 10 years ago need heeding big time and as you say bag the money for a new stadium would be a real move forward.
