We’re doing rather well in the 6 pointer games so far this season.

Cracking effort by all today to negate almost all threat from
FG. Work effort across the park is immense.

Coming back to draw on Wednesday, win today

I'm a greedy bastard, but that's how we should be thinking

No need for the 'greedy'...

A wise man would be able to self-analyse and perhaps understand.

Very quick look, and I’m sure TVOS will be along at some stage with better info, but our starts during the two most successful recent seasons were the same after 12 games:

W7, D2, L3. 23 points.

30 points from 12 games this time around.

He's just about to hit the M5 but will have a look later/tomorrow...

The aforementioned tactics are something one of them may have introduced.

Having a whole coaching staff that understands the club because of their time as players (including Lillis) will help as they collectively sing from the same hymn sheet.

We have been far too nice a side for far too long whilst everyone else seemed to take advantage of it when playing against us, its nice to see we've learnt the dark arts better and when to draw a foul in, when to slow the game down. Credit where its due we look a very very efficient squad

10 wins from 12 games! Wow. Totally professional performance today. We controlled the game throughout and Forest Green had nothing really to hurt us. Very Happy.

The comparisons to our previous starts to season other than the last two seasons are irrelevant due to us playing in a league with part time teams in now so please stop.

However that was so comfortable today, Jim is learning from his mistakes and that'll do for me.

Starting without our A-Team on Wednesday cost us but Jim has sort of been proved correct by today's result and performance.

A week off and a tough fixture in the FA Cup, I'd go for it with a strong starting XI as the FA Cup is still a valuable competition to us supporters and financially to the club. I'm right in thinking that we have no midweek fixture in the league after the York game?

Which are the part time teams we have beaten so far? I actually don’t know and not sure it matters. As Dale fans it’s hoped we aren’t going to get all superior like those a few miles down the road when they were playing at this level.

It’s impossible to compare any season/playing squad/manager on a perfectly even playing field because all the variables are different, but it is worth saying we played some terrible teams in those opening 12 games mentioned above. None more so than another team not far away, who had the spectacular talents of Jessy Reindorf at their disposal when we beat them at Spotland.

We have also played the three teams immediately below us away from home and won them all.

We have, but one hasn’t played in the Football League so that might not count.

Ok, the quality isn't as great in this league as say League2 in let's say 07/08 right?

So to compare to previous seasons other 23/24 and 24/25 is ridiculous.

Let's enjoy the moment which is what I'm doing.

We have played 8 games against teams we played last season.

2024 15 points from 8 games
2025 21 points from 8 games

We have played 4 games against teams new to this division. Comparing against teams no longer in the division is not direct, but these are the stats

2024 12 points from 12 games (6 clubs left)
2025 9 points from 4 games (6 teams joined)

I am too.

It’s also enjoyable to witness the best start to a season in the club’s history.

Only my opinion, but 07/08 had better sides in it than in 09/10 when we won promotion but it doesn’t make that achievement any less worth celebrating. Comparing like for like won’t ever be an exact science.

That's why I said 07/08, 07/08 was probably the strongest League2 division that I can remember.

But let's not compare.

Savage whilst giving us lots of credit is putting the blame mostly on Kairo's early miss. As we know from his time with us - get used to it Robbie.

If we keep getting better in all these different games it’s going to pay off long term. All stats are able to be interpreted differently of course, but they can illustrate improvements.

It was fairly noted how poor we were against those sides that finished above us in the top four last season. Six games, one point gained.

So far this season it’s 9 points from three games against those alongside us in the current top four.

It’s fair for him to say that i reckon.

Score first: 9 games - 9 wins
Concede first: 3 games - 2 defeats, 1 win (forgot Alti game)

Kairo i thought today was more physical than he was in the second half of last season.

Thanks to Carlisle winning at Scunthorpe this evening we will still be top now when league games commence in 2 weeks. Scunthorpe could've gone top on Tuesday v Morecambe.

You don’t have to.

But when looking at successful seasons and how they’re built to achieve promotion, they can offer some insight.

Same as Lama’s post above.

He kept going back to it during the interview as well. Not sure how well Mitchell will react to that, always seemed to be a player who needed total backing.

Two points from three games. One goal. Let’s see how Savage reacts.

Had my suspicions since he was appointed that Forest Green would struggle to improve on last season with him in charge. Time will tell.

All you can do is look how we have started this year. As you say comparing is pointless.

In any level of competition to make the start we have should be applauded. I’m enjoying where we are, and daring to believe we might just get out of this god forsaken division after a just a few seasons,.

The team and the management team should be given credit.

Yeah so let's just keep on rolling on the three points.

It's a bitch of a league to get out of so like I keep on saying 100 points has to be the target however and whoever we beat to take those points from.

We got off to a pretty poor start in the 16/17 season but somehow nearly crashed the League1 playoffs that season, it'd be ridiculous to compare this season's start with that season's start.

We've got a really good team on the pitch, a manager who has already proved this season that he can set us up to win the big games, something he struggled to do last season. A manager who has surrounded himself with good people who he can trust..Lillis, Taylor Done. That's smart recruitment by McNulty and it will make him a better manager. Changing a winning team and resting players has been done to death on here but when you factor in those two losses and our two games in hand on some of the chasing pack we could now be at least ten points clear at the top. If Jim can bring a ruthless streak and a hunger to every single fixture between now and May we will take some stopping. That's what Barnet did last season.

Barnet only lost 6 games going up as champions last season. As long as the manager plays every game on its own merits & doesn’t overthink scenarios then there’s no reason that we can’t achieve something similar.

It's looking great that after totally dominating Carlisle on their own pitch - and Hughes admitting we were way ahead of them - they've since beaten Hartlepool and Scunthorpe and gone joint 2nd on points. If we can keep our most important players free from injury this season it is looking like we are the team to beat.

100 points has to be the target, it doesn't matter who we beat to get to that total let's just get ther asap.

It's not a downer on today, today's result was brilliant and we need to kick on from here now.
