as much as im happy with the results and position in the league, i cant help but still feel mcnulty is a bit soft. almost reminds me of arteta at arsenal where it will get towards the end of the season and he bottles it. hes got my full backing and at the minute he deserves full credit but cant help how i feel with this one. do any other hardcore dale fans feel the same

Having Taylor and Done alongside him should help with that.

He was magnanimous to be fair. Lamented the miss in the first minute and not being able convert any of the 15 corners they had, but acknowledged we are a very good team and carry threats.
Was surprised to be honest I thought he might be all “we were all them and should have won”.

I've been watching a few of his interviews this season and he's always good value to be fair. Talks well - he's been pretty confident up till now that his team play the best football - whether that's changed now after their last 3 games. I think pretty soon he'll realise that they'll need a top quality centre forward to get promotion.

I thought you were being a tad aggressive in your post. I didn’t think there was any real need for it, to be honest — especially in a thread where we’d done really well against Forest Green Rovers.

What stood out for me, though, was how much praise the team deserved in that second half. For the first twenty minutes we just controlled the game — we bossed it completely. They couldn’t get back in, and instead of being under pressure, we absolutely dominated. It was class football.

So, I tried something a bit different: using the wonders of artificial intelligence and an open forum like this, I asked AI to look at all your posts, get a sense of who you are over the last couple of years, and it did. It analysed them all and gave me a pretty good picture — and this is how it summarised you....

D_Alien writes like someone who lives and breathes the club’s fate — deeply loyal, emotionally wired into the team’s ups and downs. They seem to crave honesty and authenticity, reacting fiercely to anything that feels like spin or excuse-making. Their tone is often blunt, occasionally caustic, but not without purpose; there’s a moral streak running through the anger, a desire for integrity and competence. You can sense intelligence and wit underneath the edge — moments where humour or musical references peek through and lighten the tone. What stands out is the intensity: they care enough to argue hard, revise posts, and stay engaged over time. It’s the voice of someone who feels things deeply and insists others do too, for better or worse.

Seems you care.

I know exactly what you mean about "I thought you were being a tad aggressive in your post." and wouldn't blame anyone for thinking that... initially. These things often have a wider perspective, which doesn't always emerge. Thanks for taking the trouble

Of course we can go up. And it’s not positive things I can say at this current moment… but has Jim McNulty ever proved he can get the job done. We are the best team in this league no doubt about it , we have proved that but once again it’s not always the best team who win the league. Look at last season for example. Well the good signs that you asked for are of course beating York and Carlisle as both will be up there. But I also did not like the brackley game. Overconfident in himself and just needs to play his best men. Other then that we will have to see if he has the bottle to get it done

Can you provide some examples of when the best team in a division hasn't won it?

A wise man would be able to self-analyse and perhaps understand.

i know you are making smart comments now but obviously the best team across the season wins but more as based on quality wise. york were a harder side to beat then barnet last season

Clearly not, or they would have won the league.

Tell that to Oldham.

It's obvious that the best teams over the whole season get automatic promotion, and win the league , the team going up through the playoffs might not have been as good as teams who failed to go up through the playoffs , but obviously like Oldham managed, sadly, performed the best in the actual playoffs. Actual results, and therefore actual finishing place are factual, skills or quality are subjective.

Tremendous performance it seems at FGR, and great result, brilliant overall start to the season, playing some really good football.

Oh yes, RealisticDale, I suggest if you don't like particular member's posts, you put them on Ignore, then you don't have to be triggered by them. Not that I have seen anything posted by anyone that's out of order on a football forum. Old saying, "if you can't stand the heat, then get out of the kitchen"!!

Both Barnet and Oldham deserved to go up last season, no doubt about that. Barnet strolled to the league title. Oldham qualified for the Play Offs and then performed better than any of the other teams and won them fair and square. I wont miss playing Oldham, too much hassle surrounding those fixtures.

Agree. It's as though the mods have gone on holiday and an obvious trouble maker/non fan is attempting to spoil the forum willy nilly.

And yet, if a real fan was to post something reminding readers about the wrongdoings of Roger, the post gets deleted before the ink is dry.

Good post. Bottomley was banned from football for two years, that was all his own work. It must have been because he held his hand up to the charges. It was the FA who did that, nothing to do with the Dale fans or anybody on this forum. He was a disaster for this club and that should never be forgotten. Not sure why posting the truth and what's in the public domain should be deleted. The details of the FA charge and two year ban should be pinned at the top of the forum as a warning to others of a similar ilk.

Mods? It's one mod. I do it alone.

Gone on holiday? Chance would be a fine thing but I do have a full time job and an extra job in the evenings as well as moderate this forum, and post stories on the website.

https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/rochdale/forum/260030/terms-and-condition

The terms and conditions on the link above, whether you like them or not, says not to be outing people, not name call and that posts are to be written fairly and without malice.

Regarding our former chief executive, facts in the public domain don't get deleted. Allegations that can't be backed up with clear proof do. Unless someone wants to contribute for me against legal action, of which I've been threatened numerous times, then I'll continue moderating as I have.

I'm deleting posts on here that clearly violate the terms and conditions above and users are more than welcome to use the ignore button on users they don't want to see posts from.

Other people have managed to post on this thread and ignore the personal stuff. Some seemingly can't.

When rules are broken, action will be taken.

If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor
