Too early to tell but perhaps they are about to embark on a successful few seasons.
There is an element of luck involved, a new manager arrives and things just click in to place, manager, coaches, players, fans all on the same hymn sheet.
Going way back this happened at Norwich with Mike Walker. After a few superb seasons at the Canaries Mike moved on to Everton and sunk without trace.

They had the Gorkyrys money and spent it wisely. The lad from Wimbledon, Rudoni, they got from Huddersfield who had got him from under our own noses is a great purchase and really impresses me when I see him play. Hopefully now we will in Kone have our own Gorkyrys and kick in when sold. |  |

'had'. ... Mark Robbins did an incredible job. Took over when the club was on it's knees (stuck in League 2) and built them up from nothing into a team that was within a penalty shootout of the Premier League. They had a bad start to last season so they sacked him and Fat Frank inherited the lot... It's a club with a lot of momentum and Lamps was in the right place at the right time. |  | | |

...and that is the thing. Far Frank is so lucky to have taken this on from Robins. The popular press will cream themselves over Lampard, but the improvement was on this trajectory with the last manager.
A little credit for him as it could have gone the way Selles took Sheff U, but Cov have been steadily improving over the last few years; exactly the sort of incremental improvement I'd like to see us experience over the next few seasons. |  |

Exactly to say Frank fell on his feet by inheriting all Robins hard work is a massive understatement, whoever has been in charge of the squad building and transfer negotiations takes a lot of the credit.
They sold both Gyokeres and Hamer for somewhere between 30 to 40 million and that money has been invested wisely, they have three of the best strikers in the division, getting Rudoni from Huddersfield and then a no brainer getting Grimes from Swansea.
Frank talks a good game and he's done well since his arrival, getting them organised and I'm sure he's a good motivator but the majority of the ground work was already in place courtesy of Robins. [Post edited 5 Oct 11:17]

I don’t want to go too early on this one; but all the signs are there for QPR to follow them closely now.
Our acquisitions from summer ‘24 are starting to really kick on (Madsen, Varane, (I include Saito), Morrison) AND our this summer we have bought three of the best players from league One (Kone, Burrell, Mbebgue). And then you look at a strong supply of youth coming through (Morgan, Kolli. Etc).
That’s a lot of good talent which will increase in value and take us upwards in the process. | | | |

Fully agree with this. Whoever is managing the building of that squad needs to take a lot more credit for their position than Lampard does.
Swapping Hamer and O'Hare for Rudoni and Grimes must have initially seemed a downgrade by their fans but has been anything but that.

i did actually put a bet on Coventry at the start of the season at 14 to 1. Just a tenner. Wish i had been a bit more bold, though now.
Thought Lampard had got them running very smoothly up and running last season. Was it a last minute goal from Sunderland that knocked them out or penalties. Just remember it being incredibly late.
But yes outstanding goal scoring currently. Scoring goals for fun.
