What's people's views? How's it clicking for them so well? Is it the manager/players/a combination? Could they be this season's Ipswich?

They’ve got a great manager…

Scooters, Tunes, Trainers and QPR.

My mate's a huge Cov fan and I really took the piss when Lampard took over.

But, to be fair, he started delivering from day one.

Too early to tell but perhaps they are about to embark on a successful few seasons.

There is an element of luck involved, a new manager arrives and things just click in to place, manager, coaches, players, fans all on the same hymn sheet.

Going way back this happened at Norwich with Mike Walker. After a few superb seasons at the Canaries Mike moved on to Everton and sunk without trace.

First time Ollie would be similar for us.

He’s inherited a great squad from Robin which has been built over a number of years. I guess even a clown would win a clown car race in a Ferrari.

They had the Gorkyrys money and spent it wisely. The lad from Wimbledon, Rudoni, they got from Huddersfield who had got him from under our own noses is a great purchase and really impresses me when I see him play. Hopefully now we will in Kone have our own Gorkyrys and kick in when sold.

Not beyond the realms of possibility that the maniacs at Chelsea come back in for him...

'had'. ... Mark Robbins did an incredible job. Took over when the club was on it's knees (stuck in League 2) and built them up from nothing into a team that was within a penalty shootout of the Premier League. They had a bad start to last season so they sacked him and Fat Frank inherited the lot... It's a club with a lot of momentum and Lamps was in the right place at the right time.

I have two Cov-supporting friends and they'd both agree with you on all of that.

But....they have been impressed with Lampard all the same. Both reckon that he's been wise enough not to reinvent everything, just let it roll.

...and that is the thing. Far Frank is so lucky to have taken this on from Robins. The popular press will cream themselves over Lampard, but the improvement was on this trajectory with the last manager.

A little credit for him as it could have gone the way Selles took Sheff U, but Cov have been steadily improving over the last few years; exactly the sort of incremental improvement I'd like to see us experience over the next few seasons.

Can we go out yet?

I had done the same thing but not to your mate but to my Cov supporting mate. Wished I was right but credit where credit’s due.

Exactly to say Frank fell on his feet by inheriting all Robins hard work is a massive understatement, whoever has been in charge of the squad building and transfer negotiations takes a lot of the credit.

They sold both Gyokeres and Hamer for somewhere between 30 to 40 million and that money has been invested wisely, they have three of the best strikers in the division, getting Rudoni from Huddersfield and then a no brainer getting Grimes from Swansea.

Frank talks a good game and he's done well since his arrival, getting them organised and I'm sure he's a good motivator but the majority of the ground work was already in place courtesy of Robins.

I don’t want to go too early on this one; but all the signs are there for QPR to follow them closely now.

Our acquisitions from summer ‘24 are starting to really kick on (Madsen, Varane, (I include Saito), Morrison) AND our this summer we have bought three of the best players from league One (Kone, Burrell, Mbebgue). And then you look at a strong supply of youth coming through (Morgan, Kolli. Etc).

That’s a lot of good talent which will increase in value and take us upwards in the process.

Nourry's next challenge; selling 2 x players for £10m ea.

Do that and we can replicate what Cov have been doing in recent seasons.

£2m ea for Sincs and Kelman is a good start.

The ground's been laid,

Fingers crossed.

Fully agree with this. Whoever is managing the building of that squad needs to take a lot more credit for their position than Lampard does.

Swapping Hamer and O'Hare for Rudoni and Grimes must have initially seemed a downgrade by their fans but has been anything but that.

I wonder what they are thinking with those two sitting at the exact opposite end of the table now?

Im no fan of Lampard but people have to give him credit, the snobbery and hatred just because he is ex Chelsea is astounding, fans have to give credit where credit is due ,he took over when Coventry were 17th,2 points above relegation zone ,took them to play offs, top the league now and scoring for fun,so he deserves praise for that, with that being said I hope it all blows up for them😆

Coventry are doing well but lack strength in depth. Their test will come when a few injuries kick in.

i did actually put a bet on Coventry at the start of the season at 14 to 1. Just a tenner. Wish i had been a bit more bold, though now.

Thought Lampard had got them running very smoothly up and running last season. Was it a last minute goal from Sunderland that knocked them out or penalties. Just remember it being incredibly late.

But yes outstanding goal scoring currently. Scoring goals for fun.

His management career well and truly on track now.

Lots of people inherit a good situation and fck it up. Lampard has taken a good thing , given it a tweak and continued with the formula. It's called management.

They've been building for a while really, a club that is going places. Now own their stadium so even have stability off the pitch to match the ambition. Their fans have really been put through it and then some, so best of luck to them.
