Rest of the Championship thread 11:07 - Aug 10 with 325976 views | Hunterhoop | Toyed with this idea last season. Shall we have a thread to discuss, comment on, cover the rest of the league? A place to discuss other teams’ results, performances, financial implosions, etc? For example, last night, anyone catch either of the first two games? I didn’t. But somewhat surprised/worried Blackburn scored 4 given how they are meant to struggle. Was it Derby being utter sh*te? Sounds like Preston are continuing in the same vein of being incredibly dull. Clive, what do you think? Worth making a sticky? Might reduce the number of threads to manage.

And replacing him with Scott Parker? Saw on Tw@tter that Spurs like the look of Parker too. Now that would be hilarious.

Wasn't he linked to Spurs after Jose got sacked when Parker was busy taking Fulham down?

This was one of the things we asked in the Leeds oppo profile, whether that could be on the cards. Common in Italy, the promotion specialist got you promotion, now you need a survival specialist.
Rest of the Championship thread on 14:25 - Apr 23 with 2107 views | dm97 | If only we’d done the same with Redknapp. Board may well have still spaffed the money up the wall, but we’d have had much more hope without one knee Harry (really needed that surgery you know)
Rest of the Championship thread on 14:28 - Apr 23 with 2097 views | Ghost_on_the_Westway | These last few fixtures don’t ’alf test out the old schadenfreude preferences, don’t they? I mean, Luton v FFCC, for one. Luton going down, v the Media Harry Monk Hurricane if FFCC get in the playoffs? Think i’ll want, for the first time ever, Fatty to win a game and then get snotted by whoever they play thereafter. [Post edited 23 Apr 14:30]

Worked great for us when we got rid of Warnock and brought in the meticulous Mark Hughes.

Hmmmm. But by the same token, as somebody else has said above, probably would have been a better bet letting saggy chops head off for that knee operation and golf club membership after the play off final rather than letting him spaff our last chance at the Premier League into Rio Ferdinand's retirement fund.

Cleverley remains popular with the fans. Similar to us in a way where they accept the bloke isn’t perfect but are both sick of change and don’t trust the circus upstairs to get it right if they do twist.

Hmmm yeah but Tone and Beardy clearly were so grateful for promotion (which should have been automatic, never mind the play offs) that Redknobb was always going to be kept on. Cue all his brilliant 2014 World Cup signings and Manure cast offs. FFS...

True, but we were crap all season and scraped into the playoffs and fluked the final with a last minute goal completely against the run of play, whereas Leeds got 94 points (so far) and a goal difference of +60. Also Redknapp clearly couldn't be arsed anymore.

I just think with Farke, he won the division in pretty fine style with Norwich twice, then both times they went into the Prem and it was a disaster. I don't think it's as crazy as it sounds to replace him at this point. Lots of people said Bournemouth were mad getting rid of Gary O'Neil when they did...

Sure ditch Farke but then who is a PL survival specialist? Sean Dyche??

Probably unfair to paint Farke and Redknapp with the same brush here, granted. But if you have a long list of evidence telling you the guy isn’t up to it (whether that’s due to deficiencies at the top level, or his attitude/willingness to coach/being a general pig - can you guess which is Arry?) it’s not a mad call. I’d wager Parker has one last chance to prove it next year, otherwise he goes on the pile with Farke as promotion winner survival loser.

To add to point above - I don’t think it’s about having a “specialist” rather someone you back to make a better go of it than a guy who has failed with an equally dominant champs team before (or in Redknapp’s case, just someone who frankly gives a f)
Rest of the Championship thread on 15:46 - Apr 23 with 1803 views | BAWHoops | Leeds fans have very little affinity for Farke as well. He isn't overly popular. They should 100% get rid if a better manager is available, but uou are just as likely to end up with a Van Nistlerooy as you are an Ireola

Really? I thought they liked Farke in the main? Our nine year old (who for some reason shows a preference for Leeds over QPR) finds his name amusing...

I think it was the other way around.... up until January we were around 2nd/3rd and Austin did his shoulder in and we dropped to 4th in the end but, of course, still in the play-offs (and 8 points ahead of 6th), as opposed to scraping our way in from further down. It was turgid football all season to be honest even when we were higher up. Never seen a more boring promotion season than that one, May 25th at 4.45pm aside. [Post edited 23 Apr 17:54]

Parker is only a promotion “specialist” as he goes to clubs with big bags of cash to spend. A big fish in a small pond!
