Toyed with this idea last season. Shall we have a thread to discuss, comment on, cover the rest of the league? A place to discuss other teams’ results, performances, financial implosions, etc?

For example, last night, anyone catch either of the first two games? I didn’t. But somewhat surprised/worried Blackburn scored 4 given how they are meant to struggle. Was it Derby being utter sh*te?

Sounds like Preston are continuing in the same vein of being incredibly dull.

Clive, what do you think? Worth making a sticky? Might reduce the number of threads to manage.

I don't think it's terrific news for us that the two teams coming up from League One stand a really good chance of making a competitive fist of next season, while of the teams down there this time who may survive Luton, Derby, Hull and Stoke are all likely to chuck some quite significant wedge at making sure it doesn't happen again to them.

Still, Oxford will likely be sht so there's that.

I mean realistically as of now we would start next season with a 23rd place finish being somewhat of an achievement.

When you look at who's been in trouble this season it's Championship stalwarts like Stoke, PNE, Hull, Cardiff.
THat should really set alarm bells ringing with our board (lol).

There will be dross, there's always dross. The key is to be less drossy than everyone else. Also teams that seemingly are fine can plummet pretty quickly. Blackburn one to watch (always) plus Norwich's slow and steady downward trend could accelerate pretty quickly.

Like this season, if everyone is fit we should be OK. But nobody is ever fit

There's quite a few clubs that have been hanging around for a while threatening a melt into League One - PNE, Stoke, Blackburn, ourselves...

My humble opinion. For the last 2+ season we have disappointed when least expected (cant beat Plymouth even with 2 extra players) , some of those displays were horrific!!

But, when least expected, can come up with results out of the blue. My first ever game was QPR vs Wrexham so I look forward toi that next year!

Yep, we have escaped by the skin of our teeth, especially in 2022/23.

I know he’s mostly public enemy no1 on here but, watching Leeds v Bristol, anyone who managed to sell Sinclair Armstrong for a reported £2.5m should be made CEO for life. SA is awful, offers absolutely nothing. Next stop for him….Shamrock Rovers

Leeds doing to Bristol City of the playoffs what Burnley did to us. Piss weak league outside the top 2

Not good news for Preston. All of Bristol’s heavy lifting has been done at home and now they need a result.

Yup. I now think that Preston will be relegated and Blackburn will get the last playoff spot.
And we may still end up in 15th place.

Blackburn are nearly as bi-polar as us. 4 wins in a row and on the cusp of the play offs amidst fan protests and decorated roosters.

Watched the game with a load of City fans and most are convinced that they will miss out. PNE very happy to shi t house and if City don't score early, or if they concede first, then they will struggle. Can't see Millwall getting more than a draw at Burnley, but not beyond possibility that Blackburn win at Sheff Utd.

Having now watched Armstrong across a season, I have to say that he is never a centre-forward, and not great out wide either. I've (sadly) seen 30-odd City games this season and Armstrong has maybe had 6 decent/good games in that time. Despite his build and pace, he never bullies defenders, presses half-heartedly, rarely gets in behind defences, and always snatches at chances. Of course, he may improve but his signing has not been a success to date.

Fulham FC: It's the taking part that counts

Yeah they look bang in trouble although Hull being crap might save them

You never know Marti might send Luton down this weekend as a parting gift

they are really poor though mate, City should batter them

Shame about Armstrong so much potential but was pretty much the same for us

It sounds like he’s gone backwards.

Was a top notch bully for us, and was reliable for the press. Could argue that was the only thing going for him.

One of the best things about this league as even teams that don’t have anything to play for, give their best (with the odd exception). The only ones who should take it easy and rotate players are Sunderland and Sheffield United. But again, I can’t see it. Fully expect teams to put out their strongest sides and that’s all the teams with something to play for can ask. Luton to go down still…..

I’m amazed that people on here thought he was a really exciting prospect, despite the evidence of their own eyes. Zan Celar has a better strike rate this season.

Although there’s not much in it I grant you.

I thought City did well to keep it to 1-0 at half time but Leeds ran away with it second half with some beautifully crafted goals (much as it pains me to say it). Almost certain they'll win the title at Plymouth.

Armstrong is basically an athlete who had a football put in front of him. Rare bit of great business from us to get a decent fee for him.

Poll: How old is everyone on here?

Burnley have to go for it against Millwall if they have any hope of winning the title otherwise they've handed it to Leeds before the game has begun.
If it filters through that Leeds are 3-0 up at Plymouth, for example, then they might just give up and Millwall may get something but Burnley have to start strong.

I think Bristol will win, they have to in order to guarantee a play off place. Their home form is the 4th best in the division, their away form is worse than ours.
Preston's away form is shite (and their home form not much better either).

Clearly he was, as he generated interest from Premiership at 17/18 - the reality is we ruined him because he should have been sent out for a lower league loan to learn the game properly, never having had an academy education.

Not to put too fine a point on it, he's crap. Not Championship standard, probably never will be. The only thing he has in his game is pace, which will win him a few free kicks but as we saw in games like Sheff Weds, easily nullified by physically strong and experienced central defenders.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?
