Rest of the Championship thread 11:07 - Aug 10 with 337442 views | Hunterhoop | Toyed with this idea last season. Shall we have a thread to discuss, comment on, cover the rest of the league? A place to discuss other teams’ results, performances, financial implosions, etc? For example, last night, anyone catch either of the first two games? I didn’t. But somewhat surprised/worried Blackburn scored 4 given how they are meant to struggle. Was it Derby being utter sh*te? Sounds like Preston are continuing in the same vein of being incredibly dull. Clive, what do you think? Worth making a sticky? Might reduce the number of threads to manage.

It would paper over the cracks and as a fan I’d always prefer 17th and a trophy to a good league season without one but their fans have been sick of Postecoglou for months. The European run has just about kept a lid on things but there are various problems there the match-going fans are fuming with considering what they pay. Arsenal are so close to being a top side and have maybe had their best opportunity but signing Eze as a substantial upgrade on Martinelli/Trossard would be a good start.

Rest of the Championship thread on 20:10 - May 9 by Toast_R | I don't really like Sunderland so I'm going for Coventry. Deserve it after all the near misses. I'm pretty chill about Fat Frank tbh. How Coventry have gone from homeless and League 2 to where they are now, while QPR have done absolutely fckall of note in the same decade, baffles me quite frankly. |
Really? What's wrong with Sunderland?

We all have our weird teams we don’t like for whatever reason. I like to see Sheffield Wednesday suffer due to a jobsworth steward at Hillsborough circa 2007. Find Barnet annoying. Could be a good thread.

In my opinion whoever pays the most money would be the best fit for Eze and with Levy pulling the strings that's never Spurs.

The strength of the Sheff Utd squad won the tie - if Cannon, Moore, Campbell or O'Hare were at QPR, they would easily be our best striker

Robbed us in the League Cup a few years back, I get that was on the officials, but that was a bitter pill to swallow. Think they have a big dose of entitlement about them if I'm honest. That STID documentary.

Right, let's have it then. Palace. Sort of. I find myself having a bit of a mid life crisis here. They were my local team growing up so the vast majority of my friends supported them, obviously, you're going to go a bit against the grain there as you do and so I always cheered against them. But now...I'm finding myself torn, I might actually want them to do well? Couple of decades out of the country means I'm not as close to football outside of QPR as I used to be and I'm not around any Palace fans daily so it's not as raw. And they're actually running their club properly, had a great youth pipeline for years, made the most of their promotion to the premier league unlike us who always screw it up. And then Eze, how can you root against him?

I met one of the fans who was in that series in the Colliery Tavern last Saturday, and he was ok to talk to.Most of their fans are decent and friendly to mix with. They are a bit like us in that they have a neighbour who is more successful at the moment, while they have been in the doldrums for a few years. It would be a shame to lose a great away day if they get promoted, but I hope they beat ffcc tonight and at least get a day out at Wembley.

It actually wasn't on Stroud that one. His assistant stitched him and us up with one of the worst decisions you could ever imagine. He wasn't taking notice of the game at the time. He raised his flag a good few seconds after the goal, having a complete guess. Absolute cretin whatever his name was. Robbed us of a ultra rare cup run, the likes we havnt seen for decades. So yeah, fck Stroud's assistant and fck those lucky bastard Black Cats.

It was SO gutting. A cup run nullified by a terrible, terrible decision. Remember during the penalty shoot out (in between ducking as our shots flew into the stands) a fan thrusting the screen grab of the "offside" in the lino's face as he was watching the goal line. Wonder if we ever got an apology? I am sure he came back to Loftus Road a while ago, not sure anyone identified him though (lucky for him). Useless git.

Well spare a thought for those surrounded by them at work here in Croydon. I do grudgingly respect them though and feel they have an excellent chance on Saturday.

I think we received an official apology from the EFL over that one.It saved us from getting stuffed at Arsenal in the next round, but it would’ve been nice to have a night out there and bank a few bob for the club.

Deep down, what's not to like. They're a well run club that has never had gandiose ideas that are way above its station. Unlike us, they didn't jettison their championship squad when they first got promoted and then squander millions on a load of mercenaries with no sell-on value. Their promoted team, via the play-offs, wasn't as good as the Warnock squad that got us into the Premier League a few years earlier. They've grown incrementally, to the point where they now have a team that has a very good chance of winning a trophy on Saturday. After 12 years in the premier league, their season ticket prices for most fans, are between £550 to £750 for the current season. If that were us, there's no way that we would have held those prices down to those very low price points for top-flight football. Hope they prevail on Saturday. [Post edited 13 May 17:33]
