Rest of the Championship thread 11:07 - Aug 10 with 300086 viewsHunterhoop

Toyed with this idea last season. Shall we have a thread to discuss, comment on, cover the rest of the league? A place to discuss other teams’ results, performances, financial implosions, etc?

For example, last night, anyone catch either of the first two games? I didn’t. But somewhat surprised/worried Blackburn scored 4 given how they are meant to struggle. Was it Derby being utter sh*te?

Sounds like Preston are continuing in the same vein of being incredibly dull.

Clive, what do you think? Worth making a sticky? Might reduce the number of threads to manage.

We've got little chance of competing with them, really. Nor do many others.

But if they persist in their hiring policy of ageing, bigger names - they will, with any luck, come unstuck in the higher divisions. Maybe.

Hmm, where have you seen that before?

Disaster for the Championship. With the spending levels of Wrexham and Brum coming up, we also get to contend with yet another parachute club.

Get recruitment wrong and we'll need to look for three weeker teams yet again...

From the outside looking in it looks like being the toughest season to secure promotion something I will watch with envy.I predict that many more championship clubs will get into financial problems chasing the fools gold.Recruitment success gets harder to achieve and more expensive every year.

I think this may well depend on who they actually bring in. It either has to be an experienced head like Tony Mowbray (I can't believe he's not in the running unless his health isn't good enough - he's 61 so not old) or a dynamic younger coach who is good with the younger players and we have missed Will Still.

Never knowingly right.

Wrexham will be an interesting one as they will now have a new set of financial rules to abide by and with a 13k ground they can’t just spend, spend, spend.

Rohl to Southampton turned out to be a crock of shit then.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

As said as nauseum, they have not been making big losses because they’re printing money in sponsorships. United were paying them £10m a year in L2 for shirt sponsorship which will have had uplifts since. They’ll be spending a fortune this summer once again.

'61 so not old' says more about us on here then him!

As expected, yesterday's result will mean the Blades are back in for Dunne now. Just free instead of for a fee

They will be closely monitored I’m sure as they have to be realistic and of expected market value but I guess it’s not so much the price but the number of different sponsors that’ll make the difference.

Apparently the owners had already mapped out a 5-10 year performance and revenue plan when they bought them, all linked in with Disney and other major US sponsors, they can spend like drunken welsh sailors and will be covered, their only issue will be if the team aren’t successful and the documentary starts to lose interest. But they won’t have any financial issues.
