Rest of the Championship thread 11:07 - Aug 10 with 339045 views | Hunterhoop | Toyed with this idea last season. Shall we have a thread to discuss, comment on, cover the rest of the league? A place to discuss other teams’ results, performances, financial implosions, etc? For example, last night, anyone catch either of the first two games? I didn’t. But somewhat surprised/worried Blackburn scored 4 given how they are meant to struggle. Was it Derby being utter sh*te? Sounds like Preston are continuing in the same vein of being incredibly dull. Clive, what do you think? Worth making a sticky? Might reduce the number of threads to manage.

Hmm, where have you seen that before?

From the outside looking in it looks like being the toughest season to secure promotion something I will watch with envy.I predict that many more championship clubs will get into financial problems chasing the fools gold.Recruitment success gets harder to achieve and more expensive every year.

I think this may well depend on who they actually bring in. It either has to be an experienced head like Tony Mowbray (I can't believe he's not in the running unless his health isn't good enough - he's 61 so not old) or a dynamic younger coach who is good with the younger players and we have missed Will Still.

Wrexham will be an interesting one as they will now have a new set of financial rules to abide by and with a 13k ground they can’t just spend, spend, spend.

As said as nauseum, they have not been making big losses because they’re printing money in sponsorships. United were paying them £10m a year in L2 for shirt sponsorship which will have had uplifts since. They’ll be spending a fortune this summer once again.

They will be closely monitored I’m sure as they have to be realistic and of expected market value but I guess it’s not so much the price but the number of different sponsors that’ll make the difference.

Apparently the owners had already mapped out a 5-10 year performance and revenue plan when they bought them, all linked in with Disney and other major US sponsors, they can spend like drunken welsh sailors and will be covered, their only issue will be if the team aren’t successful and the documentary starts to lose interest. But they won’t have any financial issues.

Their revenue is top 10 championship all sponsorship money relating to Amazon tv show and ownership

Whilst I’d love to Rohl with it here in W12 it won’t happen as he’s destined higher However….. surely he’ll leave that circus now?! I’m hoping he does soon, Chanceri stays and embargoes and points deductions follow as that’ll confirm one relegation rival for sure

Feels an enormous risk and not sure it’s a good fit at all. I can’t see it working out which probably means they’ll romp the league by ten points.

Agree. He’s managed 13 games before. Surely he should spend 1 season doing the hard yards at a league 2 club?
