Toyed with this idea last season. Shall we have a thread to discuss, comment on, cover the rest of the league? A place to discuss other teams’ results, performances, financial implosions, etc?
For example, last night, anyone catch either of the first two games? I didn’t. But somewhat surprised/worried Blackburn scored 4 given how they are meant to struggle. Was it Derby being utter sh*te?
Sounds like Preston are continuing in the same vein of being incredibly dull.
Clive, what do you think? Worth making a sticky? Might reduce the number of threads to manage.

Unlucky Frank
Devastated for Frank Lampard's Coventry City's Frank Lampard. What he's done at Cov is nothing short of a miracle. To take a team who were bottom of the Southern League, who had lost their last 744 games, conceding 26, 000 goals in the process, and to take them to the Championship play-offs just six months later... it deserved a happier ending.
Denied a fairy tale ending to the season, you have to feel particularly sorry for those long-suffering Cov supporters who were cruelly denied the opportunity to watch their giant-killing side in a Championship play-off final for the first time since two years ago. Having not played at Wembley since last year when they got to an FA cup semi-final, Lampard had finally given them something to believe in. Alas it was not to happen this year.

I was thinking only the other day, that commentary doesn't really make any sense given it was 0-0 at the time....
100%. Always irked me too! I can only think the commentator, was it Phil Parry?, thought we'd lose the game (as we'd been down to 10 men for quite a while and was under the cosh somewhat) and therefore had turned it around in the last second when in fact had Zamora not scored, we'd have just gone to extra time and possibly penalties so him not scoring meant it was by no means over.

Where Coventry have come from in recent times to where they are now is nothing short of a miracle. But... it's FF and he took over an already good team set up by Mark Robins so it's not like it's all his own work.

Mate, have you not been listening to the pundits or reading the papers?
When Lampard took over they were ELEVEN points off the play-offs with a goal difference of -3 and only 29 games left in the season to claw back the deficit. It had been SEVEN WHOLE MONTHS since they had outplayed Man Utd in an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley. It defies all precedent and logic. The day Lampard was announced, you could get 4,000/1 on Cov not finishing bottom. It was 350/1 for Cov to score a goal before the end of the season and 2,000/1 on them winning a game.
What he has achieved at Cov puts him right up there with Jesus for me, and I say that as someone who thinks he's an absolute cun t. He surely has to get the Real Madrid job now?

It's a bit like Chelscum who the commentators spent 90% of the time dwelling on in their match against Newcastle despite:
a) them being scum. b) Newcastle being higher in the league Newcastle being deservedly in the lead at half time.
McCoist struggled at first to see why Jackson should be sent off despite clearly looking at the player before ramming his arm in his face. Then they spent the rest of the time talking about how Scum could get back into the game.
It may be there are more armchair Scum fans to appeal to but there are also way more neutral fans than Scum fans who prefer balanced commentary.

I was hoping Coventry would win as thats a pain in the arse stadium to back from and I quite like Sunderland away
Couple of cheat sheets for Cov away - drink in Leamington before, much nicer pubs and a 20 min train direct to the ground that starts there. Afterwards there's a cab rank round the back of the big Tesco, we ordered one in advance to there and back at the station 20 mins after the final whistle. I no longer dread it as much as I once did!
Last nights dramatic finish to the game yet another example of what a fantastic league the championship is.Then look at the 4 th an5 th worst teams in the PL battling it out in Bilbao next week for a place in the Champions League next season as they say the games gone.

We parked in Longford last season and strolled down to Dhillons brewery for a beer and food pre match. It was full of Coventry fans but it was ok,and only a short walk to the ground. Thanks to losethe drum for suggesting it.Although it might be slightly busier on a Saturday game than it was for a Tuesday.

Both of these teams lose 2-0 to Sheff U don't they. Stodgy Wilder stuff, moment of magic from Hamer and a late breakway goal. Job done, as it has been all season

I think McMoist openly supports Chelsea, Nix.
Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

Whoever goes up will probably struggle. The manager would be sacked and the currently adoring fans will turn nasty. Just look at Leicester and Southampton. Financial security is the only good thing.

Yeah I assume that's what he meant.
This was Phil Parry though, absolutely brilliant, truly iconic. Still gives me goose-bumps. I had the "Would - You - Be - Lieve - It? - No. Unbelievable" as my ring tone for a quite a while afterwards

Does he? Oh thanks. But he should remember they're not doing the club commentary! Also same issue with Gary Neville doing Man U co-commentary.
He does at least tell us how bad they are at the minute. He was the one who said that this Utd team are the worst £ for £ football team in the country. Something carragher would never say about his darling Liverpool team.

Yep. A battle being fought between them and 16th in the league Man U for that honour.

Or go with a couple of Cov fans who drive you there and park in the Holiday Inn where one can imbibe several beverages. Only downside is one has to sit in the home end. Last season, it was agony with that last minute header. Was yesterday karma?
