Rest of the Championship thread 11:07 - Aug 10 with 339340 views | Hunterhoop | Toyed with this idea last season. Shall we have a thread to discuss, comment on, cover the rest of the league? A place to discuss other teams’ results, performances, financial implosions, etc? For example, last night, anyone catch either of the first two games? I didn’t. But somewhat surprised/worried Blackburn scored 4 given how they are meant to struggle. Was it Derby being utter sh*te? Sounds like Preston are continuing in the same vein of being incredibly dull. Clive, what do you think? Worth making a sticky? Might reduce the number of threads to manage.

Pre mid 19th century? Go back that far and you probably have connections to scores of places. I have a more recent connection - my paternal grandmother was from Sunderland. However, I don't give a fck about the place or its football team and neither did she.

True enough. If Sunderland lost they would not have parachute money like us. Now we have to play Sheffield Utd next season still with their parachute money. Chances are in two seasons time Sunderland will be back down with a financial advantage from their one Premiership season. I won't be surprised to see Wrexham and Birmingham bypassing us next.

And the "all-knowing", nepo Nourry has subsequently seen it fit to sack the person who was primarily responsible for managing to get such results against that calibre of opposition, in spite of the huge limitations in the poorly assembled squad at his disposal. Just saying. [Post edited 24 May 18:33]

Agree with you, just wish they would be big boys and make up. Also agree that generally our results against top ten poor. Pleased for Sunderland though, their fans in theC&S amongst the best and a number of them said after the goalless draw we will be fine, and they were sort of right.

Yes but family trees are important it dictates our past and our future. Quite like the fact I can trace my male line to the early 1700s and how my family arrived in east London in the 1860s.

True, but was it 4/ years ago they were relegated to L1? They then brought in a lot of younger players who have spent they past couple of years playing 1st team football in the Championship. This exactly what we have just started doing, plus the Academy players pushing through. I keep saying, this season will be another difficult one, but 26/27 is when we should be in the playoffs.

We didn't get many wins, but none of the top six did the double over us. The previous season only Southampton beat us twice though.

I’d heard before of it being worth £100 million to promoted clubs but do people know if it’s really as much as that now? (Maybe includes the parachute payments if they get relegated). Disaster for the Championship. With the spending levels of Wrexham and Brum coming up, we also get to contend with yet another parachute club. Get recruitment wrong and we'll need to look for three weeker teams yet again...
