The first time I have ever thought maybe... just maybe there is a player in there.

Was nothing spectacular, but his best performance in a QPR shirt for me.

Passing was fairly decent, won his aerial duels. Could have put himself about a bit more.

His passing, and vision, have always been good. He just doesn't get to show them often because he's slower than a Manitoba winter!

Groaned when I saw he was starting, but pleasantly surprised.

Agreed, nothing spectacular but OK.

The difference was he ran a lot more in the first half. And tried to do the press, you can then see the difference it makes when he does do that.

Also, he did not have to run back with that formation, so that helped him.

He has the skill and passing ability, he just needs to run run run.

We all saw it. He can lift his game in this league. But, for me, he was still too dopey. To coin a phrase, he needs to get stuck in.

Forrest Madsen - break off those leg shackles and run, son.

He’ll be shrimping and investing in Apple before you know it, Bubba

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

He did ok, but does not have a defensive bone in his body. I am not a Paal fan, but he had to play well tonight because he was constantly exposed by the lack of support in front of him. Started really well, but regressed after that flick he attempted right in front of us.

Can we go out yet?

Give the bloke a break, done a decent job in the first half, credit where credit deserved, tired in the 2nd.

Did he take the corner we scored from?? Passing and work rate was good. A lot of nonsense about he didn't have to work in that formation - dunno where posters get it from!!!

Played his part in a good opening 20 minutes and generally in the first half =- well done lad.

Madsen did well last night. I thought he looked a good passer of the ball early season, but that faded when it looked like not just the Support but probably also the Coaching staff demanded he defend more. He can take a good dead ball, creates openings with his vision and links the play well. Made a good chance for Paal as well as his corners. He also pressed well and used his hight a few times. Faded as the 2nd half wore on, but he could be a good player for us if he can build on that.

Agree played his part in good opening 20 minutes....and then went AWOL for next 50 minutes....

We're setting the bar very very low if that is anyway acceptable,

From an 18 year old Bennie playing out of position maybe, from a mid 20 something £2m+ playing in his preferred position, surely not.

I thought he was very average.

First half, their Dembele beat him and maybe Dunne (?), He made no effort to get back and cover.

A couple of decent corners but for someone who is 6'4, I expect more.

Unless he improves dramatically and his performances become consistent, then he'll go down as one if the worst buys in recent years.

He was decent in the first half, done a good job overall in most of his responsibilities......no need to criticize him for the sake of it.

I am setting 'no bar' except my own and I do not have a low bar.

As for Benny, fully out of his depth but I understand that he is a young lad in a man's game playing in a CF position.

I would say he was average for the first quarter at most and then disappeared,

We all want him to do well as has good technical ability but there is just no fight in that dog.

Harsh from some of you. He got an assist, did four key passes, won all four of his arial duels, made two clearances and a blocked shot, committed no fouls and pressed much more effectively.

He's not Declan Rice quite yet but if he was any other player I think people would be saying he had a decent match.

I’ve been a vocal critic of Madsen, but credit where it’s due. The team did well last night, that includes Madsen.

Yes I agree his best performance thus far. Not amazing but a big step in the right direction.

I guess he will always be a luxury player so when he starts you will need to find additional legs in the other positions around him.

A big summer and pre season ahead for him and who knows he might just come good yet.

Yeah overall a much better game last night, decent with the ball, nice corner for the first goal.

BUT I agree out of possession on the defensive side, he doesn't have a clue. Positionally or in terms of when to press and make a challenge. If he hasn't learnt that or had it coached into him by now, I'm not sure he ever will. Hope I'm wrong!

Oxford were absolutely dreadful in the first half and Madsen was made to look good.
When they upped their game after the break he disappeared and was duly hooked.
A dud purchase.

Wish I could be like David Watts

He's had his most effective performances for us on the left. I thought he did well last night, its been clear as day he has been struggling mentally for some time now, he worked hard, made some positive contributions and a bit of belief started to creep back. Got caught once or twice. He's our player and we have to try and find a way with him if we can.

Any footballer his age who tries to flick the ball to a marked teammate with his instep in a tight situation in the edge of our box has no business playing at this level. He's a five-a-side player not a real footballer and needs to be fired out of a cannon.

With regret, nail hit squarely on the head.

Similar to Northern @ Stoke, I decided to watch him closely last night, just doesn't want it enough.

He had the sort of game last night I wish he'd had in early September. Looked like Oxford hadn't done their homework on him because he was given time and space, and not challenged physically for most of that first half. But he used the opportunity, which hasn't usually been the case and made a genuine contribution I thought.

He struggled more in the second half but so did other areas of the team when we made enforced changes and they changed shape.

I'd have called it promising, but Oxford were rank and its mid-April so at this point it's hard to get enthusiastic about him beyond that.

Madsen on 10:20 - Apr 10 with 2171 viewsGeoff78

The criticism of Madsen has been justified but he did ok last night. He does give the impression that there's a psychological problem. Whether he can't cope with the physicality of the Championship, whether he's found it hard to adjust to a new country or maybe he's just a quiet, shy lad but whatever the coaching staff need to work hard with him, probably they already are. We need to get the best out of him and last night was a sign of progress. Let's be grateful.

Madsen on 10:35 - Apr 10 with 2074 viewscpgerber

I really hope he comes good. We don't have too many (any) tall ball playing midfielders, which was what he was bought for I thought. On a long-term contract, so really need to get him going.
