In terms of the quality of the player involved then you would have to say that Kyle Walker was a different class fifteen years ago.
But if you judge it on the contribution the player has made I think you’d be pushed to beat Ronnie. He’s always given 100%, been very solid in all of the three positions he’s played in and has been a very important factor in ( hopefully) taking us to safety this season. |  | | |  |

I often forget myself, but Stefan Johansen was absolutely unbelievable during his loan spell. Just a shame he will mostly be remembered for the performances that followed, because that loan was stunning. |  |

When I watch him I always wonder what Southampton was thinking.
I mean I have seen a lot of Southampton PL matches and Edwards should in the starting 11 for them, not on loan to us |
He’d have made no difference to Southampton’s season: probably wouldn’t have done him much good to be playing in a team that’s beaten virtually every game either.
He’s now got some great Championship experience ready for next season.
Thought Andrew Davies was a great loan signing: just read on Wiki that Olly tried to sign him permanently at the time but we couldn’t agree personal terms. A real shame for both parties as his career didn’t really take off after us. |  | | |

Neil Ruddock did us an amazing job when we were properly in the sht 1998.
Mark Kennedy was superb, ridiculous after some of the tat Wright did spend money on that he turned the cash tap off for that one.

I was proper pissed off at the time that we didn't make Kennedy permanent and what really stuck in the craw was him being signed by Kinnear's horrible Wimbledon team almost straight after and being absolutely criminally wasted there.
I suppose if you're offered a chance to stay in the Premier League you take it but I wonder if he regretted that move years down the line. |  |

Did I imagine this or didn’t we play an evening game circa 2008 home to Charlton where we had made an emergency loan bid for Heiðar Helgusson (from Watford?) but so had Charlton and in a typical madcap QPR scenario no one was 100% if he was going to turn out for us, Charlton, or neither. It might have been that the deal wasn’t done or he was a sub because Wiki is saying he made his debut at Wolves.
2 other players who were either loans or otherwise but for me had criminally short Rs careers were Jordi Lopez in 2009 - Sousa brought him in - very classy creative but no nonsense midfield player with a superb free kick. What was that goal he scored at the loft end when he sorted of half volley chipped it over the keeper on a diagonal. Provoked a lot of discussion about whether or not he'd meant it ( which I thought he did). Possibly against Blackpool or Preston?
On a more mundane note was Matt Connolly a loan at first too? Foggy memories of him being fantastic for us for a good while until about a year after we made him permanent and then he got injured and moved on. Something like that anyway. [Post edited 10 Apr 16:57]

Kyle Walker springs instantly to mind. He was class from the first and the rest of his career has pretty much backed that up. I know we don't benefit from the rest of his career, but a pretty stellar footballer to have once been a loan with us. |  |

One that is not mentioned because he was in and out of the team, but has had problems throughout his career always despite extreme talent.
I think Ravel Morrison scored six goals and had two assists in fifteen appearances , from midfield, in the championship at the back end of the Zamora Wembley win.
Often forgotten about.
Probably about the only time he had any kind of consistent form in his career due to his own personal demons
Quoted often by Alex Ferguson, Rio Ferdinand, Wayne Rooney amongst others that said he was the most skilful youngster that they had ever seen in training, which for Ferguson to say that at Man Utd throughout all those years, quite a statement.
He did ok for us, but even then he was still in and out of our team during this short period of his multi club career..
And we chose not to sign him permanently after gaining promotion, which considering how many overpaid duffers we had in our team that season in the premier, well he truly must have blotted his copy book big time.

Jimmy Smith was very good for us when he came from Chelsea on loan. Scored quite a few goals if memory serves. Kyle walker though for me, was unbelievable.
