Morgan Fox: Stick or twist? 08:18 - Apr 22 with 6394 viewsnix

Personally I'd get rid.

Seems a nice fella but according to Sofascore he's only resulted in one clean sheet. He's given away one out of our three penalties conceded and two out of our three OGs. He's been injured quite a bit too and has only played in minutes the equivalent of fourteen whole matches. He's also as slow as treacle.

He's only scored one goal too. I know we want some continuity and wise old heads in the squad but still.

Thoughts?

As ever, money will dictate won’t it?

In an ideal world if there is someone cheaper and younger lined up then he’s gone, rightly so, in a dignified manner with plenty of notice so he can find another club.

If we just release and leave a gap then panic buy in September we’ve learned nothing from the last 15 years.

I said it in another thread, but Marti confirming a conversation hasn’t been had is terrifying.

How are you supposed to motivate a player that doesn’t know if he’ll be employed in three months?

Terrifying? Given we’ve only very recently (Friday) confirmed our league status, I think “terrifying” is a little over the top. I’m not even sure if it’s that surprising. I would expect / hope conversations start happening now.

Simple truth is - If Fox is here next season then we will be continuing to battle relegation

I have nothing against the guy but hes limited compared to what we should be looking at!

Another player who gets abuse when it isn't fully warranted although he has had a couple of howlers.

It is all down to money basically, he should be paid as a back-up left sided defender centre back. To replace him would only be 'free' if we have an academy player ready to do the back-up job. Anyone else will cost and I want most of our budget spent on a forward who will score goals.

It shouldn't be beyond the wit of man for the club to make plans for both scenarios.
a). This is what we would do in L1
b). This is how we finish above 56 points next season

I fully understand why the club were not offering out contract extensions in January, when it was not certain where we would be playing.

He's an odd one because he can be fine for periods of time, and he's only backup anyway of course, but my God when it goes it really goes - both Swansea games and Pompey home.

We’ve been safe enough for commercial forecasts since February.

Also, contingency planning.

Plan A if we’re safe
Plan B if we’re not

Ok as a squad player, sort of does better when brought on later in games to shore up the defensive options. But whenever he starts always a bit of a calamity waiting to happen, must be one of our top goalscorers this season, although sadly not for us.

Anyone know if there are any CBs in the development squad that are ready for some minutes yet?

That will be a NO.
McDowell went on loan to Aveley who are bottom of Nat League S.
Hawkins and Woodman were released last year.
McCann has hardly played.
DS, recently, have often had a Trialist CB.

Call me crazy, but is it the sea air that affects him?

Foxes howl at the full moon too.

Well, it sounds like something else around my bins but you know what I mean.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

You would like to think we can do better, but if the price is right i wouldn't mind him staying. At least he is available a fair bit, unlike clarke salter

No, it's being asked to play football.

Sorry Morgan. For me, it's a big...

He's perfect for us: lower mid table Championship stodge.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

He's 4th choice centre back, with Morrison coming through and can be considered a first teamer we should be letting Fox go and looking for a young LCB to be the next Morrison. I think he's cost us more points than he has saved so its time to say goodbye IMHO

Definite twist for me.

Definitely move on. Players like this we have to move on if we want to be a top half side. We can’t spend every flaming season just trying to stay up in the Championship.

Similar to this, he's only a back up but it will provide a worrying indication of the clubs ambition if they keep him. I'm sure we'll find a better and younger alternative.

Playing wise it’s thank you, good night and goodbye

I don’t know if he brings “other qualities” around the squad much the same as Brett Angel apparently did. Maybe that’ll have some bearing

I don’t rate him.
Too often he disappears under the ball from judging long punts which surely has to be CB championship clogger standard fayre? As documented he has zero pace and doesn’t off a goal threat from corners

Sorry…. It’s a no from me

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

But he is in the goal of the season collection?

Never knowingly right.

He's been a useful squad member, but he's not going to get any better. Surely our recruitment team can find younger, better and cheaper.

Time to say goodbye.

So I'm all in favour of a big of stodge, I just suspect we can find someone who doesn't have 4 games a season where he looks like he's on a bung
