Young player who needs a loan if I am honest. Decent first season though. Liam Morrison (CB | undisclosed from Bayern Munich) 9/10. Shame he was injured as he has been outstanding when he has played. Hevertton Santos (RB | free from Estrela Amadora) 2/10. Looked poor from the beginning and not cut out for English football. Paul Nardi (GK | free transfer from Gent) 9/10 not perfect but a very good signing and quality kepper for this level. Zan Celar (CF | £1.7m from Lugano) 5/10 jury is still out. Hope he gets a good preseason in to him. Jonathan Varane (DM | £875k from Sporting Gijon) 7/10, started slowly but has got better througout the season Karamoko Dembele (AM | loan from Brest) 7/10 glimpses of a good player, another season affected by his injury Koki Saito (LW | loan from Lommel SK) 8/10 would like to see him join on a perm Nicolas Madsen (CM | £3.4m from Westerlo) 4/10 isnt the player I was hoping for and cost a lot of money Harrison Ashby (RB | loan from Newcastle United) 5/10 some good games but I seem to remember more poor ones

Excited by him. Pay for all the best fitness people please. Hevertton Santos (RB | 3/10. Totally the wrong environment for him. Paul Nardi (GK | 8/10 not perfect but a very good signing and quality keeper for this level. Suffers a bit from our players not being ready for his occasional attempts to throw the ball out quickly. Could improve command of his area. Massive upgrade on Begovic though. Zan Celar (CF | 5/10 jury is still out. Hope he gets a good preseason in to him. Signs of progress before injury . Looking forward to seeing how he improves Jonathan Varane (DM | 8/10, started slowly but love this guy. Committed in defence and beautifully balanced going forwards. Loves interacting with fans. Karamoko Dembele 7/10 glimpses of a good player, another season affected by his injury Koki Saito (LW | 8/10 would like to see him join on a perm. Love his attitude. Nicolas Madsen (CM |6/10 3 assists in four matches shows potential. I think he works harder now than is suggested by most fans because of early failings. Harrison Ashby (RB | 5/10 . Thinks he's better than he is which is irksome and will block improvements. No thanks.

Hope we see him here for years to come Celar - 6/10 - difficult to judge and want to see him given a chance next year as clearly got ability Dembele - 8/10 - been a bright light and while have been some poorer performances - he is a great player for the future Saito - 9/10 - sign him up. My worry is the quality, Chair, Andersen have dropped off if anything, Kolli and Dembele we seem to struggle to know how to fit them in successfully. Big season for Martí coming.
Rate the new boys on 18:58 - Apr 23 with 2041 views | Hunterhoop | Bennie - 5/10. Too early to say but he’s ha game time and hasn’t scored or assisted or really looked anywhere near the level yet. Morrison - 8/10 Santos - 3/10 doesn’t look like a footballer Nardi - 8/10. Great shot stopper. Kept us in games in the first 1/3 of the season. Poor from crosses/corners Celar - 4/10. 2 goals in 17 (?) games for your big money centre forward signing? Might come good. Think there is a player of sorts in there, but it’s been a poor start. Varane - 7/10. Blows hot and cold. There’s a player in there. Him and Field could be very good together next season Dembele - 6/10. Injury aside, promised lots which he hasn’t lived up to yet, but his end product isn’t bad. Potential Saito - 8/10. Lovely little player. Took a few games to get used to the physicality of the league. Now a dangerous wide player who can go either way. Would love us to sign him permanently. Think he’ll be even better next season. Madsen - 4/10. Would have been 3 or lower had it not been for his recent games and chance creation and assists. Cannot continue to be a liability off the ball, needs to work harder, be better on the ball, and find a role in the team that doesn’t hinder the rest of them. Grade is based on his price and the expectation that comes with it. That’s not his fault but it’s very relevant to assessing a signing! Ashby 4/10. Do not rate this fella. Would not like us to resign him. He does some daft stuff, makes a lot of rickets, and adds little on the ball going forward. All style no substance. All in all you’d say a 5/10 given the proportion of money spent invested in Madsen and Celar. Perhaps this investment will come good next year. We can hope. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Generally aligned with these but I think Madsen went from a 2/10 what were we doing to a 4/10 disappointing overall but for the first time I'm seeing why we paid the money over the last few games.

Rate the new boys on 20:10 - Apr 23 with 1840 views | QPROslo | As of now: Bennie 4. A promising young player, good movement when played up front. Morrison 6 ok, but injured a lot. Santos, not here as of now but he had some pace if I remember right. 4. Nardi 7. Great stopper, but his saves frequently include spilling the ball back into dangerous areas that Begovic only did occasionally, but got murdered for. His distribution and command of his area aren't great either. Celar. Hard to know, he's been injured a long time and only had 2 good games out of 18? Maybe he'll come good? 4. Varanne 7. A bit inconsistent, injured a fair bit, but very good at his best. Dembele 6. Started well but didn't score for a while, lost confidence?, then injured a long time. Slowly improving again now. Saito. Great little player. Hope he gets over this injury quick and we can sign him. 8 Madsen. Has great vision and ability to play others in behind. Did well early on, struggled, left out the squad, but he's doing very well now and could be a great player for us. 8. Ashby. Has made errors but done pretty well at LB the last couple of games. Ok back up back now, and would be happy if we could keep him without paying too much. 5.

Dembele's a promising 7 - once he gets into his groove, he should be a leading light at this level. Nardi has won us a lot of points. Madsen isn't the answer, and Frey Bentos doesn't leave me happy as pie either. 30 years old, but looks/plays like he's 40! O, and I'll drive Andersen to Calvary myself!

Rate the new boys on 20:39 - Apr 23 with 1747 views | numptydumpty | You missed out Morgan and could include Lloyd and Kolli as been promoted from youth squads Bennie 5/10 Should be loaned. Too raw currently. Hopefully a slow burner. Nardi 7/10 Started brilliantly. Beaten in recent times by only saves he has had to make. Would have been an 8/10 from initial form, but my great aunts best mate would have been an upgrade on Begovic !!!! Ashby 5/10 Last few games, has played better. No chance he will be at Newcastle. He can be decent but too often tries the unnecessary Hollywood ball, which leads to trouble, but cut that out and he gas 7/10 potential which is decent enough, but I don't expect to see him here next season. Morrison 9/10 Brilliant. Top quality. Hopefully though a much more injury free next season. Santos 2/10 Nowhere near good enough. Think he has already left now. Morgan 7/10 For such a young player his initial run in the first team was outstanding, then suddenly realised how well he was doing and reverted to type in being a young player acclimatising to men's football. Good one for now and the future hopefully Varane 8/10 Slow start but great at what he does. Potential still to improve first me. Madsen 5/10 Gone up from 2/10 until recently. Started to show his qualities as a player, so am hoping as opposed to expecting. Dembele 6/10 Has definite qualities but only shows this in glimpses. Another one that could go either way but needs improved injury performance as that's a worry. Saito 9/10 Superb. We have to sign him. Love the commitment and for a little guy is unusually strong. Celar 2/10 Awful. One game with two great finishes and then injured for rest of season. I don't think he is going to produce but I still think we could at the very least recoup our outlay. Kolli 5/10 Would be higher but get the feeling he will be injured or unavailable as much as he plays. Get the impression others around him, are already touting him for bigger and better things but he has achieved nothing as of yet to deserve the next step. The people around him are ruining him - i have no evidence of that - it's just a feeling - so i could be completely wrong but if lot of injuries next season, I for some weird reason doubt the validity of these... Gives Willock vibes for me. Lloyd 4/10 A lovely guy and totally committed to the cause but not championship quality and myself am unsure he has that in his locker. If we get Kelman back from Orient and provided Orient don't get promoted I would suggest to them, they take Lloyd on a season long loan, although am not sure he could help us in our team, given where we aspire to be... Varane 8/10 played loads of games in crucial position. MoM in crucial Oxford game. When missing we lost to Portsmouth, Derby and Hull. That shows impact he has on the side. Celar 5/10 crucial and good goals vs Cardiff. Rate the new boys on 10:31 - Apr 24 with 990 views | aston_hoop | Nardi 7/10 - Very solid keeper. A couple of neutrals have told me how impressed they are by his consistency. A trait you don't always see in the Championship with goalkeepers. Santos 4/10 - Was a punt, it didn't work, if Dunne goes he might get another go so I'll get behind him anyway Morrison 7/10 - Injuries aside, 300k is incredible value for a centre back who can head, tackle and play out from the back. Plays with that calmness and positioning that top defenders play with. Lets see him play 40 games next season though. Ashby 3/10 - Not great defending, not great going forward, terrible attitude, 23 years old now with 2 very poor Championship loans under his belt and nothing else to show. Would avoid. Varane 7/10 - I'm very high on Varane personally, think he's a tremendous asset in our team and we're much better with him playing deep and having Field in front of him. Celar 3/10 - 2 good goals aside, looked entirely unsuited to us. But also, we spent money on him and I'd be happy to see him get another go next season given the lack of options. Madsen 4/10 - Started ok, faded terribly, now showing his quality but its taken too long for that to happen and I'll be waiting to see him do that consistently next season. Saito 8/10 - I think he's been excellent. Defenders are terrified of him, so often he's our only attacking threat. Looks small, in reality has the physicality to play at this level. Years in the Netherlands will have helped with that too. We'd be mad not to sign him. Dembele 6.5/10 - Shows his class, and he does have class. Just injuries doing from him again. Puts up numbers that Paul Smyth would take years to match, but needs to stay fit if that is going to be of any use. Morgan 6/10 - Started well, faded badly. Still not sure his best role in our team. Its not deep and Field, Madsen, Chair, Dembele all a better option further forward. Possible difficult second album coming up for him. Bennie N/A - Yeah not played enough. I like what I've seen, I personally think he has the physicality to succeed eventually but only turned 19 last week so lets not expect too much yet.

Rate the new boys on 11:58 - Apr 24 with 887 views | BlackAndGoldRanger | Bennie 6/10 - Signed for the DS, has played multiple positions when asked and puts in a shift. L1 or L2 loan will make him a much better player. Morrison 7.5/10 - Would be higher but needs to stay fit. Fantastic when he does start. Santos 3/10 - Not for the championship I'm afraid. Will do fine in Portugal. Nardi 8/10 - Was player of the season earlier in the campaign, does need to command his box better. Celar 4.5/10 - There is a player there, we were trying to use him in the Frey role, which he isn't. He goals at Cardiff showed he is a finisher. Play to his strengths and he will get goals. Varane 7/10 - Quality as a starter, disaster off the bench. In the old school "enforcer" role which is still a thing in the Championship. Dembele 5.5/10 - Needs a proper run of starts. Big offseason for him, defo the makings of a quality player there, especially with better players around him. Chair and Dembele have only started ONCE together this season. Saito 8/10 - Love the guy, would love him back, exactly the type of player we should be after. Madsen 4/10 - Slightly rose tinted end of season spectacles with the assists and dead ball delivery. Needs to know his actual role and position better. Learn to tackle and beef up for a full championship season. Ashby 3/10 - Not for me. Although seemingly better at LB than RB he isn't a championship defender. Feel he would do well in Spain with more time on the ball.

Rate the new boys on 12:58 - Apr 24 with 751 views | Ranger_1969 | Nardi 7 - Good keeper, wish he would command his 6 yard box better but if he was perfect he wouldn't be playing for us! Santos 3 - Doesn't look strong enough for the championship, but maybe needs another year to settle. Morrison 8 - Very impressive, very calm and I notice although comfortable with the ball, he's not afraid to clear his lines when required. Ashby 4- Has been better of late, but has very little composure on the ball and therefore often gives it away. Back to Newcastle! Morgan 6 - Promising. Came into the side when we were struggling and gave us some much needed energy. Tailed off a bit, but he's young. One for the future definitely. Varane 7 - A slow starter but is improving. Love the way he defends in one on one situations. Passing needs to improve as does the tempo of his play - but I have a feeling we will sell him for a nice profit one day. Dembele 6 - Frustrating, but obviously talented. A shame injury interrupted his season as I think he might have got a 7/8 otherwise. Looking forward to seeing him next season. Saito 8 - A very promising season - hope we sign him. Love the way he's prepared to take players on. More spectacular goals to come in my view. Bennie ? - Not sure. Looks quite skilful and quick, but is he strong enough? - not seen enough of him. Maybe a loan out next season? Madsen 5 - Poor start but the improvement over the past few weeks is quite startling! There is definitely a player there. Needs a good start next season to build on that improvement. Celar 4 - Unlucky to get injured when he did. Those 2 goals at Cardiff showed he can finish. Like a lot of newcomers, probably needs more time to settle. Judge him halfway through next season. Kolli 6 - Promising, got some talent - probably more of a No 10 than striker though. Lloyd 5 - Love his enthusiasm but can't shake the feeling that he is no better than Armstrong. Will he make it at Championship level? Hope so!
