Will start with a recent one. Sinclair Armstrong.
I thought in his first few games, I predicted Sinclair Armstrong had the potential to be a top top player and felt it was all within himself to achieve this. Definitely had hopes and probably like many to start with, he reminded me of Sir Les. Very wrong on that one.
Another recent player for me was Rob Dickie
I think at the start of one of his seasons, he banged in two or three twenty five yard goals, as well as being everywhere in defence. He has, for me been more successful than Sinclair, but seems his level is a decent but not outstanding championship central defender. He is going to have a tough time coming up, after his foul seems to have knocked Bristol out of the playoffs also.
Clearly Ronnie Edwards has shown brilliance and massive potential. Be interesting to see how he improves. It's never a given, but I doubt he will end up fitting into this particular category.
Anyone have others over the many years of following Rangers that spring to mind...

For the more elderly fans. Martyn Busby was considered by some to be on par with, or better than, Gerry Francis. A bad leg break v Fulham followed by 18 months out virtually finished him. |
He painted my flat once (article published in AKUTRs), until, after his injury, as he put it to me wandering through Crouch End (after painting said flat) with a nod to the local knocking shop, the club 'shat on me from a great height'. Didn't really want to talk about QPR. I remember him as a nipper as one who the crowd used to seem to love to get on the back of, though it's right he was once rated as among the cream of that early 70s group. |  |

Re Sinclair, he now has, what, 6 goals in 100 apps of various durations for us and Brizzle. Is 22 next month. Les had done a top loan at Besiktas by around that age before coming back to us to start tearing it up. If he doesn't make next season count, you have to think he's looking like another unlikely lad to exit QPR.
However, it's just too funny that his middle name is Ntomuchuk(wu). With a birth cert. like that (I know he's Irish), you gotta wonder about the parents! | |
