Röhl gone, confirmed.

Not so far fetched to have him as our manager as it may have seemed 2 months ago. Anyway in Stephan we trust etc etc

Röhl gone, confirmed.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl has left the crisis-hit Championship club by mutual consent.

What a mess they are in. Rohl had allegedly stayed on with no pay until things were sorted out. Seems nothing has been sorted.

Never knowingly right.

Makes sense, we struggled last year, and the reality is only Poku strengthens the first 11, which itself is countered by Paal leaving and not being suitably replaced.

Or in other words, we’ve pretty much stood still currently.

Patterson gone from Wednesday as well, they’ve lost nearly all their goalscorers from last season.

I would say Mbengue is a step up from Fox. Burrell is a step up from Alfie (at his current development). LB and another DM are gaping holes. Meanwhile Chair is fit and Morgan and Madsen more experienced in the Championship; we've got more pace and physicality, so positives as well as negatives. Would like to see a fit Frey, Varane and JCS though.

Don't agree.
Mbengue is a better CB than Fox.
Given the success of the loan at Dundee, Larkeche doesn't seem to be a downgrade on Paal.
Poku is a replacement for Saito.
Madsen and Varane have got a season of Championship football under their belts.
Morgan and Bennie also.
Burrell adds pace to a pedestrian side.
Some of the youngsters like Esquerdinha, Akindeleni and Tuck should put pressure on the senior players in their positions.
Key individuals like Chair, Dembele and Celar are fit

It's not perfect as injuries to JCS and Frey are troubling; we haven't got any obvious cover for the Varane/Field axis; the strike force looks limited.
Overall, I find the betting odds pessimistic. I believe we'll finish above Stoke, Watford and Derby, as well as those expected to struggle.

Marvin Johnson left Wednesday. Played 41 games last season as left back. Wouldn’t mind signing him as a temporary fix.

Yeah, could do a lot worse.

I was purely speaking from a first 11 perspective. Poku, at right wing, is a replacement for Smyth not Saito. That’s a definite upgrade on Smyth who played a lot, and for all his energy and workrate, lacks quality. But Paal has left, and having watched Larkeche closely in pre season, he does not appear equal of quality - I think we’ll soon find that out.

From a squad perspective, I do agree that a case can be made for overall improvement, Vale coming in for Andersen, Burrell likely for Lloyd as like for like, and at LCB Akindileni, not Mbengue, for Fox - who looks a top talent. Not been impressed with Mbengue so far, whose personality appears to precede his footballing ability, something a Reading fan previously warned about.

If we finish above Derby, we'll be in the play-offs

id say we will be hovering around the bottom 3 most of the season , squad is paper thin with little cover aval , one friendly left and we have one fit striker in the club
couple that with a manager with no experience of english football , but he did win the cup in 2019 though .

Vale and Burrell two complete unknowns at this level. Anderson very decent for us especially year 1 and Lloyd has his moments too. So deffo not an upgrade until proven otherwise.

I've got absolutely no worries about Vale's ability to step up. He was North Battersea's Academy Player Of The Year for 2022. You don't win that unless you have something about you. The seven winners that immediately preceded him:
2021: Tino Livramento
2020: Billy Gilmour
2019: Conor Gallagher
2018: Reece James
2017: Mason Mount
2016: Fikayo Tomori
2015: Dominic Solanke

Anderson could barely run. And we’re swapping Lloyd with a lad who scored 11 goals for a rubbish side in League 1

I don't think you can say Andersen was very decent last season though and we're comparing last season's squad to this season's not his first season.

He only played the equivalent of 13 90 minute matches, scored two goals and zero assists and very little defensively. Will be very disappointed if Vale doesn't do better.

I love Alfie's enthusiasm but if you had the choice of him from another club or a more battle hardened Burrell wouldn't you go for Burrell? A loan for Alfie could make all the difference in the future.

Seriously?
Likeable and did try hard but I doubt many would call his spell here a success.
