Rest of the Championship thread 25/26 on 14:25 - Jul 29 by LongRanger | Odds look about right to me, we've got so much work to do, especially in the treatment room, with a few weeks still to go, I can't see anything other than a struggle again. |
The big question is why Stoke isn't appearing there.

Easy Mousinho at Portsmouth.

You’ve read into that the wrong way. Like for like - from a positional sense. As in a number 10, for a number 10. I already stated the players mentioned were examples of improvement.

I'd say simply due to who the manager is, they've been spending and they'll continue to spend more. I think they'll be ok this year, but hope I'm wrong

Do Wrexham have to pay a Welsh Tax on Welsh players or something? That's crazy money.

Wrexham and Birmingham seem to be going very large this summer. Well over £10m spent by both clubs so far. I can see Wrexham going up again as they seem to have the Midas touch. I think Birmingham will start well but perhaps fall away? £7.5 million on Broadhead is a lot of money! However, him and Moore is potentially a good frontline. Didn't realise Moore is 32 now.

Can't see either going up. Just because you spend a lot of money on transfers and wages doesn't necessarily create a promotion team. There is a lot of noise about these two, but if they go on a bad run, especially Birmingham, can see trouble. We are ticking a long nicely, signing players wo actually want to be here, not just the pay packet.

Ipswich getting £7.5m for Broadhead and promptly having a £15m bid for Hayden Hackney accepted. I think they’ll walk it with 100+ How the other half live?! [Post edited 30 Jul 13:19]

What could possibly go wrong? We spent an absolute packet in 2013/14 and got promoted.

Also sold Delap earlier. Stable club, decent manager, parachute payments. If they don't stroll it, I'll be amazed.

I thought that getting rid of Paal was the panacea to all of our largely exaggerated ills down that side. Larkeche and the next Roberto Carlos were/are both upgrades. Eustace is no slouch, as evidenced by his record at this level at Brum, Blackburn and Derby. The latter were seemingly a lost cause and virtually nailed-on for relegation. If he thinks that left-backs/wing-backs of that calibre are needed to navigate an arduous championship season, I'm inclined to side with his judgement, on account of his impressive record to date at this level and achieved at clubs with clear challenges. Opinions and that, but never understood why people took against Bidwell and later Paal. 6/10 left backs. That's the Championship.

Bidwell was bloody awful with the best I can say about him being “always available” Kenneth I liked and saw a lot of plus’s Did get a bit “phoning it in” after the club tried to move him on

Bidwell started every single league game in 17/18 and started as LB across 4 different managers. They can't all be wrong. No Roberto Carlos but I think 'bloody awful' is over the top personally. His career since backs that up too. Esquerdinha my prediction for scapegoat in chief this season. We have a thing against full backs at this club for some reason.

I think Esquerdinha is too young for us to make him a scapegoats. I think it will be Ba….and he’s not even signed yet. Good scapegoat age and a striker.
