Taylor Richards finally going? on 11:16 - Jun 24 by Northernr | I was quite surprised by that as well. Be interesting to know what role he’ll perform here. I expected it to be very much head coach and assistant sliding into the system they’ve already built here. |
Quite. See my post in the Larkeche thread on this point.

Taylor Richards finally going? on 21:17 - Jul 2 by Jevlar | Okay, I'm going to bite... is Richards finally getting going?? Anyone else thinking that the penny may have dropped for Taylor... I mean, the odds are stacked against him but physically he even looks like a footballer again, and he seems to be invovled in training. We don't know anything about the off-field antics, so would be great to see that its all behind him (personally as well as professionally) but also as he is a local lad as well it would be great to see him fulfil the promise he must have shown for Citeh and Brighton to have taken him on. I know, what must I be drinking to post the above but still. What does everyone else think... [Post edited 2 Jul 21:18]

Honestly, he was such a good player this would be amazing… but unlikely.

Taylor Richards finally going? on 21:23 - Jul 2 by Wilkinswatercarrier | I mean, why would Richards start to knuckle down and make an effort in training as he enters the last 12 months of his contract? [Post edited 2 Jul 21:23]

If we give him the opportunity then what signal does that send to others? Thought we had learned this lesson a hundred times.

We have already sent the message. Get your head down, work hard, if you get injured, recover and then work hard again. You will be rewarded with a new contract, evidence of a point in case, Larkeche. I am just totally guessing here but ... Richards' return will be faked into the DS so QPR do not get sued. Then he may play well all he likes, but he will never make it into the first team. Then in Jan we shall try and give him away, failing that at the start of Feb we shall offer mutual consent buy out, trying to save what little we can, but he will probably reject that and then we shall move him out of the DS totally as even if he sued then it would be only for the remaining wages we are paying anyway so, it would end up costing him more in lawyer fees. And also, no club would touch him if he did that. The only way we could move him on in February is if his agent fools him into thinking he can get another long-term deal somewhere else with a small end-of-season stint at, say, Doncaster, for example. The agent receives a signing-on fee from Doncaster. Richards thinks he will secure a new contract, but he does not. However, his agent has fooled him and secured one last payday for him, and then it is Hong Kong that beckons! So, if he moves in Feb, it will be if the agent can get another payday. If not, then we know not even a dodgy agent can shift him. It could be fun watching the lesser-spotted Richards turn out for the DS, though. You know, like watching out for a rare bird that only appears once every four years or so.

Taylor Richards finally going? on 04:29 - Jul 4 with 3984 views | SydneyRs | My overall feeling is I'm struggling to think of any examples of players that have really turned it around after periods like this, where there are easily recollected examples of things not improving.
Taylor Richards finally going? on 05:14 - Jul 4 with 3925 views | PlanetHonneywood | If the greatest comeback since Lazarus is happening, then what position does he play? I ask because I don't know, but if for example he's a CM, I think his historical unreliability would not stop me going out to buy in cover for that area. I'm afraid it's probably too little, too late. At best, his people have got something in to his noggins and he wants a year in the stiffs so his agent can try manufacture something in the next two windows. But let's say he has got his head straight, do the Rangers really have any confidence that it's permanent and his errant ways are behind him?

Taylor Richards finally going? on 07:54 - Jul 4 with 3688 views | stevec | Three years of fckin us over and some still want to give him a chance. Let’s assume for a minute he is half decent (he isn’t), and after all this hassle gets in the side. That means someone who’s worked their bollocks off loses their place and finds themselves on the bench. It means someone coming through, doesn’t get that place on the bench they worked hard for. If the club published how much money he’s earned in the last three years for literally zero return it’d probably make your eyes water. Enough of this, please. He’s behaved unprofessional from start to finish.

Taylor Richards finally going? on 08:52 - Jul 4 with 3400 views | JamesB1979 | If we’re paying his wages and he’s not being disruptive, then why not see him train and see how he gets on. Otherwise we just pay him for? It’s not giving another chance, it’s just trying to get something out of a player we’ve paid a lot of money for.
Taylor Richards finally going? on 09:25 - Jul 4 with 3282 views | BklynRanger | Is this just based on those few lines in WLS, or is he heavily and unexpectedly featured in pre-season footage? I have an image of him flying into Heston, parking sideways across two spaces and jumping out, ripped to the bone, eating a half open tin of tuna. He sprints towards the pitches screaming 'LET'S FCUKIN 'AVE IT THEN' and proceeds to put on a 90 minute clinic in skill, aggression and commitment. Michi Frey is seen leaving the pitch in tears at the end while Richards completes his final few dozen push-ups. He then leaves the car parked as it is and jogs home, bounds up the stairs to his bedroom ignoring his mum and has a big vvank. If all of that is currently the case then maybe we hang onto his contract termination docs until things die down, some time in mid July.

I agree, if it for whatever reason clicks with the new manager, then I'd at least want us to benefit. His wages are being spent either way
Taylor Richards finally going? on 15:10 - Jul 5 with 2803 views | Lblock | I’m in total shock that he figured in today’s game To be honest I don’t agree with it and can’t believe we look to be giving him another chance. I sort of get the argument on shop windowing him but it sends the wrong message for me. He’s basically taken the right royal piss for a good few years now; last year of contract and suddenly he’s getting it all together? Nah…… not for me

No, we should play him, but only in friendlies and DS. Not only to shop him around, but also to show youngsters and others that there is always a way forward. This means, hopefully, they will stay. "Look, we support young players, look how we even supported Richards?". When young players like Poku come here, this is what they say, and we can see that our club can evidence it. As, stated before, play him in the DS, shop him and then if no one comes in by Feb, see if we can bargain him out.

It‘s just JS‘s get out clause I’d imagine. He probably said ‘everyone will get a chance’ with me and this is him following through. How did he play by the way? I missed it.

'Not being disruptive' !! Good one. His very presence is disruptive. What do you think the team leaders like Cook think of him and his being in the dressing room? What do you think having a player whose commitment has been zero for 3 years, showing he couldn't give a fk about QPR, Cambridge or whoever whilst milking an excellent living off them suddenly be around the place? Think of that no budget year when Ainsworth started the season in charge, Richards was eating up a nice pay packet and wasn't remotely interested in helping out. I thought we of all clubs, after the Fernandes years, have learnt the vital nature of having the right sort. Have you lot not listened to the likes of Joel Lynch on his time here. Forgotten Laird and Tyler Roberts already? Losing the image/reputation for being known as a club where you can come and take the p*ss is really important for us. I mean this fella makes Boswinga look like f*ckin Clint Hill. We're trying to build a team, a squad and a future plan. A football player who refuses to play football for 3 years shouldn't be anywhere near that. And he certainly shouldn't be taking minutes, even pre season, away from an Alfie Tuck etc etc. 'He says he really has changed this time mum.' [Post edited 5 Jul 18:12]

How did he play? Meh. Couple of good touches against a weakened L1 side. Tried too hard too often when the simple ball was on. Too much to prove.

Problem is if you haven't kicked a ball in anger for what, two years, then it's a long difficult way back. Pretty sure this is QPR trying to show interested clubs he can still play. Sort of.

I can understand the club putting him in the shop window to try and move him on but going to Girona won't go down well with the fans and some of the senior players too I'd wager. Not sure what the legal situation is though. The PFA are notoriously litigious and I can imagine if we don't let him train we could be sued for hurty feels. Knowing our luck anyway!
