Taylor Richards finally going? on 19:30 - Jul 5 by nix | Not sure what the legal situation is though. The PFA are notoriously litigious and I can imagine if we don't let him train we could be sued for hurty feels. Knowing our luck anyway! |
Dixon-Boner and Santos weren't included in the game today and haven't been seen in the pre season pics and vids much. It would appear we can leave players out and I guess they can always be offered training with the DS.
Taylor Richards finally going? on 20:01 - Jul 5 with 4954 views | francisbowles | I'm going against the grain here. The guy has had mental health issues. Who are we to judge that? What do we really know about it? He is still under contract and it would seem that there is no way to end that. I thought he did okay today, as good as most of them. Play him like any other squad member and pick him on form. JS has no history with him and he will pick the best team he can. Let's see where it takes us. Rule nothing in and rule nothing out at the moment.

Fair play Nix, good point. Although the irony of Richards getting litigious against us for NOT letting him play football would be absolutely delicious!

Mate, although it may be hard to tell from some of my posts, I'm all about the love, peace, forgiveness and healing! In quick summary if someone has been suffering such trauma as not being able to carry out their job for three years (Am I right in remembering Clive mentioning partying insta posts etc? If so we'll ignore that for now!) then it would have taken some deep therapeutic work to ready them to start doing so now. Especially the high pressure world of football. Maybe, unbeknownst to us, that has occurred and a very different Taylor Richards has returned to the squad taking responsibility and a genuine desire to show he has grown/learnt/healed/moved on etc. Then marvellous. I'm all for it, I just have severe doubts that is the case.

In your line of work Nix, you am sure are certainly aware that dismissing employees who present with long term mental health troubles, particularly if they have a diagnosis, is fraught with difficulties and in some cases, there is actually too much protection now. I dont think Taylor Richards will be with us this season, but it would certainly benefit ourselves if he performs in pre season matches, as am sure it would help a great deal with shipping out anywhere to be fair. But yes also weirdly, he played well today....

Taylor Richards finally going? on 18:10 - Jul 5 by 1BobbyHazell | 'Not being disruptive' !! Good one. His very presence is disruptive. What do you think the team leaders like Cook think of him and his being in the dressing room? What do you think having a player whose commitment has been zero for 3 years, showing he couldn't give a fk about QPR, Cambridge or whoever whilst milking an excellent living off them suddenly be around the place? Think of that no budget year when Ainsworth started the season in charge, Richards was eating up a nice pay packet and wasn't remotely interested in helping out. I thought we of all clubs, after the Fernandes years, have learnt the vital nature of having the right sort. Have you lot not listened to the likes of Joel Lynch on his time here. Forgotten Laird and Tyler Roberts already? Losing the image/reputation for being known as a club where you can come and take the p*ss is really important for us. I mean this fella makes Boswinga look like f*ckin Clint Hill. We're trying to build a team, a squad and a future plan. A football player who refuses to play football for 3 years shouldn't be anywhere near that. And he certainly shouldn't be taking minutes, even pre season, away from an Alfie Tuck etc etc. 'He says he really has changed this time mum.' [Post edited 5 Jul 18:12]

100 per cent. Funny how this toerag suddenly decides he’s available in the last year of his contract. Don’t want him anywhere near the squad.

He'll only get in the team if his form and attitude are good enough. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I doubt it. You dont keep Dunne in the squad or Cook to babysit little shysters like him and keep them happy. [Post edited 6 Jul 2:50]

Must not have impressed in 1st week as both have been seen training. No sight of Tuck, unless recovering from something like Lloyd etc. This should be a potential breakthrough year for him. On Richards, we don’t actually know the full story - attitude, mental health, injuries, personal stuff, no sh*ts given.. probably a mix of all. As far as I'm aware, he isn't some kind of mass murderer being greeted with open arms. If he’s genuinely turned the page, humbled himself, and applying himself properly (or better than most others), I have no issue with him showing up and seeing where it lands. We’re not pandering to him, as since 1st July the new gaffer’s given everyone a clean slate to prove their value - i trust his judgement. Based on yesterday? He was ok, nothing more. But right now, players like Vale, Poku, Dembele, even Sutton, are ahead of him and more aligned with what we need. If that’s the case, take the L and move on.

How do you know whether he's had mental health issues? Do you have access to his health records? What do you really know about it? Understand that when you pull out the "what do we really know" trump card, it applies to you too. Personally, I have eyes and a brain, and I'm not buying it. That being said, whilst I don't believe that Richards has had mental health issues, I do agree with your second point. Taylor is under contract and pulling a wage. He appears to have lost weight and is available. Whether this is a classic case of a player trying to win a new contract in his final year, only time will tell. However, Stephan should work with a clean slate and pick players on form.

I do agree with that but as someone who was at Rotherham when he stopped to do up a shoe lace instead of chasing back it’s going to take a lot of persuasion.

Wonder if he has been taking Mounjaro... Ten tonne Tessie can lose six stone on these tablets.. Just a thought I reckon he will play well in a few friendlies and my prediction is he wont play after that as not up to the required standard If we somehow manage to offload him for the season, that would be the best outcome. Pretty certain, he will do nothing for us. His career is finished
