Poll: What is it to be then?

Jason Whittingham seems to be following the same process, at Worcester he claimed he had a buyer, who never seem to appear, at Morecambe he is now suggesting he as received a new bid for Morecambe, despite having agreed to sell the club to Panjab Warriors and if true received the money for the club, but will not complete the sale according to the Morecambe Forum. At Worcester it was claimed that he was involved in asset stripping the club through a very complicated use of companies, which Jason Whittingham denied. Now the Morecambe Forum seem to suggest that some of the land, not owned by the trust, was sold in June to a mysterious buyer, so it makes you wonder.

I hope Morecambe survive for the sake of the fans, but it is starting to look 50/50 at the moment.

Once again you have to wonder about the EFL scrutiny of new owners given what had happened at Worcester?

The mysterious leader of the new consortium is named as a JONNY CATO.
Give me strength !!
No known football connection or business connection as far as can be ascertained, except for an obscure Swedish politician who is highly unlikely to be the same Jonny Cato..
You just have to weep for the Morecambe fans who are in despair.

Poll: What are you planning to do v Newport

Morecambe on 21:01 - Jul 21 with 4216 viewsDalenet

It's getting worse for Morecambe. Their owner promised a statement on Friday about a new owner and the payment of funds to allow the club to pay staff. But that announcement didn't happen and the staff haven't been paid, and the players are refusing to play now. Tomorrow's friendly against Barrow has been postponed. Will they start the season? Must be a real risk now.

The NL have suspended Morecambe from the competition until the end of August pending further developments. Their fixtures for that month have been postponed.
Sad news.

Very similar to the Bury situation in the summer of 2019. Watch the owner blame the NL next.

Got to feel sorry for their fans. Another shambles of financial governance and EFL approvals. The NL have no other option. Meanwhile the players now need to fend for themselves. Surely their contracts are null and void - either because they haven't been paid, or because they won't be starting the season. What a sh*t show 2 weeks ahead of the season.

Meanwhile our Boxing day and Good Friday fixture may well not exist. 44 games a real possibility.

heading to be removed from the league:

It was decided further sanctions must be imposed, with the Club’s membership to be suspended with immediate effect.

The Club will also remain under embargo ahead of the new season.

Morecambe Football Club will also be removed from the National League Cup for the forthcoming season.

The Committee will meet again on Wednesday August 20 to determine if outstanding items have been satisfied, and to decide the Club’s ability to retain Membership in the Competition.

As I understand it players and staff have had a partial payment of wages due in June whilst, at the time of writing, there is no sign of the wages for July which were due today.
Total respect for the players who fulfilled a friendly at Fylde on Saturday.
Lord knows where they stand now.

From the BBC report quote:

"The 105-year-old club's current owner Jason Whittingham..... "

That's some age to be running a football club.

Who have you got in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup?
Is this the first time your club have played in the FA Cup?

The worm of time turns not for the cuckoo of circumstance.

What utter nonsense. The current bury have never even played in the first round proper of the FA Cup.

I see that some first team players have left the club with more to follow this week. I wonder if we should look at Jamie Stott who is a decent left sided centre back and is a mate of Harvey Gilmour and also lives around the Burnley area.

If rumours are correct, they have also lost their GK Harry Burgoyne and a young midfield player Harvey McAdam.

I hope they survive, but I doubt if they will, because reading the Morecambe Forum, you get the impression that their owner says he wants a deal with Panjab Warriors or some other mysterious investors, but then apparently refuses to speak to anyone. It makes you wonder what his motive is.
