Getting a bit bored with this project talk now. Especially with no proof of anything going as planned, aka no big sales. (Yes, I know it is very early stages)
So when we're being told that results and points don't matter at this stage?? I thought that was the point of being a football club.
and why should I spend £30 a game if the results aren't that important

Apparently, the next step is trying to play well for 60 minutes rather than 45, and then 'on verra'! Jesus Christ le Seigneur, and all his carpenter friends!
Perhaps the fans could come to a corresponding cunning agreement with the club to pay half the ticket prices to start the season, then two thirds, and see where we go from there?
Talk about bebe steps!
In about two months, we should be able to compete 100%, we're told. So that's all right then. Allons-y!
Are any other clubs - even a single one - telling their fans this?
Funny (i.e. perverse) take from the female interviewer, who referred to the fans being on board with Le Projet after the Watford game, when everyone knows we were giving the performance 'Le Oiseau' at h/t. No idea what planet she's on, but perhaps she's a Nourry plant!
In conclusion, I remain, however, totally au fait with our architectural dessein - let's say about 50% this weekend, next month 60%, and then maybe 100% by November. Or perhaps the reverse.
Patience is a virtue, as La Rochefoucauld may have said. (The word means suffering.)

I think we must be just working to a different calendar to other teams where pre-season ends in October and we are crowned champions next August as no one turned up to our matches in June and July.

Think this is the major point with the project , results dont matter to it , its purely a production line of buying cheap to sell at a profit ,they arent bothered if we finish 7th or 18th long as the production line works and we start selling players for more money than we bought them for , thats why it took so long for a manager to come in and nobody in there right mind would sign up for something like this , second away game of the seson , a game we usually sell out and ask for more tickets and we havent sold it out , fans at watford aleady showing signs of turning against the club . the wheels of the project might already be starting to come off.
we sell varanne for 10 million. etc project is working carry on .
Interesting that we always seem to play so well when the other team are 2 up and have put the cue on the rack. Let's see it from the beginning boys. Too much talk out of our club, nowhere near enough action.

I've been thinking about this a lot this week for the match preview.
Ten years of Preston away, and really we're no further on than when we started. We're still talking about being a development club. That our aim is to sell our best players, and atm we can't even do that. We've got Varane, and some prospects, but that's not much different to when we had Eze and a few Chair types, or Freeman, or Smithies.
To get this going Brentford style we need to be selling players plural, one after the other, summer after summer, to reinvest. ATM we can barely get one away. Meanwhile Ipswich pay £12m for Leicester's sixth choice winger.
It's a really difficult sell to supporters, and there are signs after this summer that people are fed up with it.
It's an interesting communications problem. How do you sell this and take people with you? I'd probably knock the word 'project' on the head for a start.

I'd be more upset if we just spent £12m on a winger to be honest.
Have I got full blown Stockholm syndrome?

There's many things I don't understand about it. But this is the main one. If you wanna sell your youngsters then prospective buyers need to actually see them do it at the right end of the table where there is pressure and ad accountability. Or suprise suprise in a cup game against premier opposition. No one's paying millions for someone who has a good 20 minutes against PNE once a year.

I suspect our great leader is working on the premise that us “old farts” don’t really count anymore. Better to play to a part of the house that’s excited by the spin of doing something which sounds new which us “old farts” know is nothing of the sort. My guess is he will win this round given the use of social media in playing this up has a far greater impact on the younger fan base rather than message boards frequented by cynical and right-minded “old farts” Essentially, he doesn’t give a shit about the fan base over 45’’s he’s playing to a different audience and he wants us to know in. As an aside I see Amanda Staveley, her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi and Jamie Reuben were spotted in Mayfair this week. Now, I wonder what R’s Director has his base in Mayfair? Another project perhaps?

The bit I struggle with and don’t get is that a player’s resale value is entirely dependent on how he plays for us. Buy low, and sell high. Fine. We get it. It’s the only way we can increase income and it be usable in line with FFP.
But “selling higher” is entirely dependent on the players we sign playing well.
Call me a traditionalist, but “playing well” is usually defined in the game as a) Being part of a winning team b) goals, assists, dribbles, tackles, duels won…all the data points the stats gurus follow.
If your players you’ve bought and intend to sell for more are performing well with regards point b, chances are they’ll also be achieving point a.
What I’m getting at is the buy low, sell high strategy ONLY works if your team is performing on the pitch. Players values will not increase, especially outside one or two individuals (which we need to make this model work) unless the whole team is progressing up the league.
Performances and results do matter to the “buy low, sell high” strategy and it is stupid to suggest otherwise. Brentford made it work because every year they finished higher. That also kept the fans on board with selling their best player every summer.
The other thing is that we have a limited budget. A player’s value never increases if they aren’t playing. Therefore we need to be very careful with spending too much money on players in the same position, because they can’t all play at the same time. It’s why we should not sign Saito or another winger (unless we’re selling one of our current lot).
To make this model work, we cannot be profligate with the limited funds we have. Any serious money spent to “buy low” should be on someone we intend to start (in order to develop them and increase their value).

I only go to a couple or so away games per season, but my wife is still a football widow when we're playing as I have a regular date with FAWANEWS. Not this week though! My wife will still be a football widow, as I venture over the Dartford Bridge to support Chesham at Tonbridge.
Of course, I will keep checking my phone for score updates, but the realisation that I can shrug away bad results/performances without anger is something new.
I've seen many inept/uncaring games from Rangers during my time, but nearly all of those were at the end of the season when we were going through the motions. Starting the season with them is beyond my comprehension! I think I've reached the stage that I'm only going to home matches for the get together pre match in the pub.
I understand the club wanting to encourage younger supporters & I'm pleased that we have increased our support in that age range, but under 25 is only a small percentage of out fan base & to take us oldies for granted (that is how it feels) might not be a wise move.

This 100%. We’ve got absentee owners whose sole ambition is to finish 20th in the Championship each season. Anything above 20th is viewed as success. It amazes me we still fill LR every home game and usually fill our away allocation. This club really doesn’t deserve us. What other club would appoint a 25 year old nobody as CEO and DOF? It’s madness. Coventry 1 - QPR 2.
Scooters, Tunes, Trainers and QPR.

Can you imagine managers like Alec Stock,Dave Sexton.Terry Venables going on about "project under construction?" Get on that pitch and win the football match!! The game's gone..High press low press, this block, that block, false 10,false 9 false this false that... You never hear the phrase "Football ? It's a simple game." I hate getting old but at least I have my memories of when QPR were a team not to be messed with and for many seasons could live with and beat the best. Apart from say, four seasons (2002-3,2003-04 2010-11 and perhaps 2013-14) the last 30 years watching Rangers hasn't had that many highlights and that's why I applaud all those supporters that continue to travel up and down the country week in week out. Outstanding loyalty that deserves better that a "project under construction."

You're right in principle. But I think that says more about the shortcomings, indecision, and inability to stick to the plan that we had when Les was DoF.
Last summer we sold Sinclair Armstrong for a decent sum.
This summer Kelman went for a bigger sum.
All being well we should be shifting Varane next summer for more money than Armstrong and Kelman put together.
Hopefully Morrison, Mbengue, Dembele, Poku, and Kone will continue that trend.
And then there's some interesting prospects coming through the DS: Sutton, Smith, Akindileni, Pearman, etc
Baby steps, but we are starting to put the pieces in place.
And I completely agree with you about the word "project". I'm sick to death of hearing it.

If 'how we play' is more important than the outcome in a results based business it's not going to end well. The last manager tried that and abandoned it for results and points. Have they learned nothing?
Like the post PNE, very very open about what he's been told to focus on.
He's covering his philosophy, Nourry's philosophy, but he doesn't seem to be getting the right input as far as how a lot of supporters listening to it might think - like th stuff in this thread. Which means this will all be a lot harder to sell if he's still selling it come November.
Not saying he will be, and can understand other people wanting to stay positive, but the rod for his own back is only going to get bigger.

All very true.
I really like him, but if the supporters lose patience at any stage the manager/head coach is always the first one sacrificed by the board. Toeing the board's line will be quickly forgotten if they need to sacrifice him.

Think you’re being kind Northern - long-standing supporters have been fed up for a long time now - regretfully loads of us have voted with our feet and not moved from our sofas for a number of years and the sad thing about it is we haven’t missed it enough to want to come back. Apart from the Leeds victory a couple of seasons ago imo we’ve rarely put in a 90 minute show to kick us up the backside into renewing our season tickets.
