Coventry City 7 Queens Park Rangers 1 – Report 02:50 - Aug 25 with 10872 views | Northernr | Look, I'm obviously struggling with QPR at the moment. I'm also struggling with the amount of anonymous accounts all weirdly parroting the same lines and branding honest home and away QPR fans like me "dinosaurs" "a cancer on the club" "mentally ill" "old farts". I went and did something else with my weekend this week, because I wondered if yesterday might go as it did and I couldn't face it. Sadly I was right. Jamie Perry is half my age, does every game home and away, and is the most lovely, placid, good natured boy you could wish to meet. I gave the match report to him and, look, if he feels like this, if Jamie Perry feels like this... Thank you, Jamie, for filling in this week... https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/queensparkrangers/news/64679/coventry-cit

Coventry City 7 Queens Park Rangers 1 – Report on 12:00 - Aug 25 by alexferguson60 | A truly wonderful report. My favorite quote from was a friend of mine who stuck it out until the end. The only reason was that his wife was from Coventry and she and her Mum were shopping and wouldn't get back to the Ricoh until 6pm for him to pick them up. He just texted me with those beautiful words: "Well that was s**t". That was a beautiful summing-up of the absolute dross that I watched. |
Did anyone on here stay till end. And Any particular reason why ?

We stayed until the end. Not quite sure why - perhaps as we had spent a fair bit of time and effort getting there plus cost as well so wanted to get our monies worth!!!! Broke down on M40 on way back to complete what was definitely the worst ever away day in my 50 years of following Rangers. Would guess there were around 500 others who stayed the distance. Don’t blame anyone for leaving early but I can’t think I would ever leave before half time (Port Vale and Newcastle springs to mind). Personal choice of course. Would love to see the players reimburse the travelling fans but won’t happen.
Coventry City 7 Queens Park Rangers 1 – Report on 12:48 - Aug 25 with 1538 views | Paddyhoops | Sympathy on breaking down on the M40 . When it rains it pours. We left because I honestly thought they’d get 10 . Didn’t want to be there for it.

Thanks. Fully understand why you left early. No right or wrong although some fans think they have the right to tell others what to do. Bloke next to us at the end was screaming at fans to give Kolli abuse as opposed to clapping him for having the balls to speak with some fans.
Coventry City 7 Queens Park Rangers 1 – Report on 13:25 - Aug 25 with 1409 views | NewYorkRanger | Great report of a horrific performance Jamie - must've been tough to endure but your writing is excellent. Thanks for taking the time and the skill to produce that. Best wishes to you Clive - I've enjoyed this site for years - from when I was living abroad as a great way to keep in touch with happenings at the club and now that I'm back here in the UK. Your writing is always insightful, knowledgable and frequently very funny - I'll miss it if you do step down on a more permanent basis. But as others have said, health is more important than anything else. And if some of this is down to nameless pr*cks on twitter then hopefully the support you get on here (not least on this thread) shows you how much you are appreciated , and is enough to outweigh any crap you get on that cesspit. Best wishes

Coventry City 7 Queens Park Rangers 1 – Report on 08:13 - Aug 25 by BrianMcCarthy | Excellent report, Jamie. Thank you! Much love, Clive. Look after yourself. Hope you had a great weekend. |
As one who's been accused of being 'old-fashioned' himself, amongst other things, my empathy with the old farts knows no bounds.

Coventry City 7 Queens Park Rangers 1 – Report on 13:30 - Aug 25 with 1374 views | JimmyR | Look after yourself Clive! It’s the hope that kills you are that’s in shorty supply atm As for those twitter, internet, keyboard f’ck sticks, f’ck em and f’ck em again. If making 5 accounts and gobbing of to you is what their time is spent doing then I know who’s side I’m on I hope you are doing okay
Coventry City 7 Queens Park Rangers 1 – Report on 13:33 - Aug 25 with 1349 views | E17hoop | JnrJnr hasn't missed a game in 3 years. He didn't do Plymouth because he feared a youth team defeat and is strongly considering passing on more away games now. He walked after 5 on Saturday and is only doing the next couple of away games because he has train tickets. As the excellent report says, if you're losing the away support it's a serious issue. If it all goes wrong against Charlton it'll be even worse.

Coventry City 7 Queens Park Rangers 1 – Report on 13:55 - Aug 25 with 1245 views | OakR | Best of luck Clive, you're the reason we are all on this site. Thank you for all your reports, analysis over the years, keeping this a site I and everyone else keep coming back to. I'm sorry the soial media halfwits are getting to you, take the time you need but always remember how unbelievably well respected you are here and by the people who actually go to matches. Not only that, I;ve often seen your previews and / or match reports praiused on other sites. Nowhere else has the benefit or your knowledge, wit, analysis all coming from one of us. And you are one of us, and don't forget that. I've had periods out away from QPR and not renewed mine or my kids season tickets this year, partly difficulty getting to games and partly apathy, but I hope you get back into things and start looking forward to matches again soon.

Coventry City 7 Queens Park Rangers 1 – Report on 14:16 - Aug 25 with 1181 views | AshteadR | Look after yourself Clive. That must come first. This is my favourite website / forum, not just football, end. Yourself, Dave Thomas and QPR in the community (including Andy Sinton) have been the best things about our club for many years and this is my 50th anniversary of following us.
Coventry City 7 Queens Park Rangers 1 – Report on 14:41 - Aug 25 with 1112 views | AshteadR | That’s a really well written report Jamie, thank you. Grimes, Torp and Rudoni were excellent for them, but they literally could have played in their club suits. Our midfield 3 were all over the place, as evidenced by the 2nd goal, when Morgan gave the ball away from fullback. What was he doing out there when we’re trying to keep things compact. That was just one small example. Charlton will be interesting……
Coventry City 7 Queens Park Rangers 1 – Report on 15:02 - Aug 25 with 1065 views | ManinBlack | Sorry to hear about your issues Northern. I mentioned how this club has damaged my health in one of the Saturday threads. I have gone from watching the game, to keeping tabs on the scores, to now being reduced to just checking the final result so I don't get worked up so much. It all feels like nothing at the club ever changes and we are perpetually stuck in a rut and every couple of years we get a good hammering. The sheer frustration of following this endless drivel where we make the same mistakes over and over again. When you point out how bad we are people wade in as though everything will be fine. Apart from three promotion seasons, the best part of the last 28 years has been endless crap and little sign of it improving in the forseeable future. You are younger than me so hopefully you will return to it but at my age I have to distance myself from all this nonsense that our club has been for the best part of three decades.

Look after yourself Clive. I was enjoying this hot and dry summer ...then the football started 😉Maninblack you have perfectly summed up my feelings about our club... but much better than I could of. Best wishes to you too.
Coventry City 7 Queens Park Rangers 1 – Report on 15:30 - Aug 25 with 998 views | mart_Goblin | Great report Jamie . Reliving it again in must have been such a joy 😄. Clive - it boils my blood to read what you have to put up with from faceless cowards who don’t give 2 f’cks about this football club . And it’s not the half of it I’m sure . There has been a change on here too over the last couple of months . Not with fake accounts , but I’ve just noticed a slight change in the way a few posters have replied to Clive . You can disagree and it’s good to disagree but there has been a slight lack of respect shown to Clive (and others) in reply to Clive’s posts that I hadn’t seen before . Maybe it was always there? Mate , as others have said , you are the main reason most of us are here or at least came here . But your wellbeing is worth more than any midfielder, striker , CEO , internet tosspot …football club. We all love this club no matter the differences, but first and foremost , it’s just football. If this all just folds tomorrow and there is a tiny part of me that wishes it would so we could all just crack on with life , then it wouldn’t kill us would it ? Your health trumps anything that’s going on here , Heston or W12 . [Post edited 25 Aug 19:28]

Coventry City 7 Queens Park Rangers 1 – Report on 09:09 - Aug 25 by BostonR | Clive, it’s important to remember that you are highly respected by a very large portion of the fanbase and that includes me. These arse-holes, on social media sites, sit behind a keyboard and don’t have the balls to call stuff out - unlike you. Unfortunately, I now believe the club is orchestrating a lot of this and it’s time to fight-back. Yes, take a break and let yourself heal. However, when you’re ready be the brilliant journalist that you are and start to hold the cabal that is currently running the club to account. Nourry has lit the blue touch paper and the fan-base is literally going to explode - it’s inevitable. Your oversight and reporting has always been accurate and honest. When your ready , sharpen up your “pen” and let Nourry know you’re not going away easily. |

Was going to say this pretty much word for word You're a brilliant writer Clive, but you're also a leader for many of us. When you're ready we need your skills to oust this jumped-up, under qualified, sneaky little posh tw@t. This club is our community asset, we need to fight for it. For now, have a break and prioritise your health and happiness.
Coventry City 7 Queens Park Rangers 1 – Report on 15:57 - Aug 25 with 902 views | Silverfoxqpr | Nice work Jamie, sincerely much appreciated. I had a choice of going this game or the 'Forwards' Festival in Bristol. Chose the latter option thankfully. Just thought about the irony of writing the word 'Forwards' on a QPR message board, anyway....... Clive, to echo the sentiment of the other posts above, take care of yourself mate. Easy to say but ignore the morons on X, even better come off it all together if that's possible in your capacity as a journalist. I gave it up once that lunatic EM took over, an absolute cesspit. Enjoy your downtime and I hopefully look forward to buying you a Peroni in the Crown in the near future.
Coventry City 7 Queens Park Rangers 1 – Report on 16:02 - Aug 25 with 876 views | ParkRoyalR | Twitters likely best ignored these days as I too have noticed some very weird R’s related new accounts, Nourry seems a little Trumpian in his media management and clued up R’s commentators like yourself threaten his ego, Hopefully the signing of Haydn & a match winning performance from Kobe lifts all our spirits, Hope you’re backing firing next week as one of the few things us R’s can boast about is having you as our master wordsmith & club laureate, even if we’re shite at Stats.

Never forget those things on Twitter aren't real things being said by real people. Anytime you feel an emotional knock or your thought processes getting caught up reading any of that made up manipulative nonsense, come back and read this thread. The love and appreciation is clear, is real and is going to last beyond this current episode and its barrage of fake sh1t. Be kind to yourself brother.

Coventry City 7 Queens Park Rangers 1 – Report on 04:58 - Aug 25 by SydneyRs | Echo those sentiments. I've gone from missing it to being glad I'm a long way away and not having to live with the constant daily focus on football, the BS from fans of other clubs etc. I look at the constant taunting that goes on in grounds now and it seems so weird and alien to me these days. Maybe I've been in the southern hemisphere too long! And that's just the normal side of it, social media makes it many, many times worse. Bad enough having the usual suspects taking the piss, but when the 'digital creator' idiots from places like Nigeria (all massive, decades long Chelsea fans obvs, donated to save the bridge etc) try to join in, well just take your fake plastic pretend support and fcuk off. |
I also concur. While i wait every Monday for your view, this is a tough task. QPR inhabits a very deep place and can elicit a significant dose of pain. I am glad there are precious souls willing to support you and this very precious site.

Coventry City 7 Queens Park Rangers 1 – Report on 03:42 - Aug 25 by BrisbaneR | Hi Clive, It's easy to say this from the other side of the planet, I don't have to sit through the week-in week-out drama, broken promises, rising hope only to be dashed etc., but none of this is worth breaking yourself, bodily or between the ears. If there is anyone who has earned the right to step away it's you; I appreciate you aren't seeking permission from people you've never met, but for what it's worth, you have it. I hope a break gives you a chance to refresh, gain perspective and hopefully find joy again the bits you love about Rangers. You've written so beautifully about all the things that surround the game and what they mean to you, perhaps these are what will bring you back again. All of the above is written with a thought that you might be broken (finally) and walk away from this forum that I love. I hope it doesn't come to that, but if that's what you need to do, I'm sure you'd do it with the thanks of all you've gathered here over the years. All the best and take care of yourself. |
First class response and Clive, whilst you will be sorely missed for however long you’re away, please take care if yourself. Bill shankley’s words worth remembering.

"This is my favourite website / forum, not just football, end". Same here . Clive, so sorry to hear about how our woes are affecting you, please do whatever you need to get through this rough patch. You're in my thoughts and prayers. The last few years supporting Rangers have been brutal, so the last thing you needed was Internet trolls waging malicious campaigns against you as well. How sad that people do that after all you have done for the QPR fanbase. That's a great report by Jamie, thank you, but who knows where we go from here. Nourry's approach is creating a disconnect between the club and the fans and the coaching structure and reporting lines are illogical and confused and, to my mind, make JS' already challenging job even harder. The team isn't balanced, we're not doing the basics properly and seem to be overcomplicating everything. It's ugly, in fact, the subtitle for the match report could have been: "Losing ugly". Whatever comes next, let's not turn on each other. We all bleed blue and white. You Rs.
