Ya, but that's not hard, to be fair. The central misfielders we have are all poor at it, imo.
I'm with Wilkins on this: the only way we improve central midfield is to have players who can defend and play ball. Hayden's very good at the first, I'm not so sure about the second.
Anyway, good news for now.
He turned a player in the first appearance, I remember because it's seered into my memory as one of the few times I've seen it in a hooped shirt in around a decade.
If ever I get run over by a car I'll lay in the road and think about that turn.

Some recognition, though pathetic that it needed a 7-1 loss to come to terms with, that you can’t just have a team of 21-26 year olds with ‘sell on value’.
That came out of the blue but good news. We are screaming out for a CDM to play alongside Field and JV. Morgan is very young and needs some time to mature but there is definitely a player there. The way Coventry played through us and won second balls in the middle third was frightening to be honest.
Looks like we will have Saito , Hayden and Norrington-Davies in before the weekend with Celar leaving. Would not be surprised with another couple in before the deadline. Blood.
Glad Isaac is back with us permanently. I just hope to God Stephan plays him where he should be played, and that the injury curse at Rangers doesn't strike him down in the first 10 minutes against Charlton on Saturday. I mean, Isaac will start against Charlton, surely to God?
Just don’t let him anywhere within fifty yards of Ben Williams.
Whilst welcome, this signing is clearly a reaction to Saturday's debacle. A good player with a great attitude who will improve central midfield. However, we still need that midfielder who can break the lines and weigh in with some goals.

It's unlikely it's just a 'reaction' to Saturday - these deals are normally a while in the making. But even if it is - good! We need more reactions to that horrorshow.
I think he will add something on the pitch, but mostly I think he will assist as a leader / captain role. Reading reports, and what people are saying, we really need a few people to get the team going, and keep them going, and not accept some of what's happened. That's my biggest hope with this signing.

Hayden has been available all summer and his signing doesn't fit the model. Talks may have been held to test the waters but, make no mistake, they've pulled the trigger in reaction to Saturday shit-show.
A solid foundation to build on, at least one strong cornerstone for the construction!!! A very welcome addition hopefully he is fit enough to make a start soon
I think there was a piece in the Athletic or NYT where he spoke about keeping himself super fit so hopefully he'll be good to go on Saturday.
If so then he has already broken ranks. They (as in BW, De Souza etc) dont want the squad to be super fit so early in the season, so keep Hayden out of the side until the they decide when the rest of the squad need to catch up.
The Manager will then pick the squad and let the Head Coach know.

Funny metaphor ('pulled the trigger') for an applauded incoming. So you think they basically tied up the contract, filmed the welcome video, and wrote the news release over a Bank Holiday weekend, do you? You sound like the kind of sad sack who just has to be the sneering cynic in the corner whatever the club does and whenever they do it.
