The people have demanded and I have risen like a great big festering plague.

2 - 1 QPR

Jimmy gers his head together and heads it in.
Field taps one in.

Not a perfect performance but lots of positives.

There will be plenty of mentions for Kone and Saito, but for me the most pleasing aspect was the commitment and the fast start - definitely a reaction.

What a difference a week makes.

Paul Smyth absolutely deserves an honorable mention—his impact in the first half was crucial to our strong start.

Unsurprisingly quiet on here after a good result. Really enjoyed today. We weren't great but we showed some bottle and it looks to me like the players care. Great timing to have a couple of weeks off now to get players a bit more fit. One thing that stood out today was how strong the bench was even though we still have two or three first choice players out injured.

I think they are both essentially playing just in front of the back 4 but Varane is sitting deeper, that's how it looks to me.

Madsen has done the cover and link up, I think if Varane stepped up he may be able to break up play more effectively, I suspect he will get hooked for Field around 60 if he doesn't.

Varane isn't 100% fit yet I don't think. Not surprising as he's been out injured. Expect him to be ok when he is.

Absolutely fair! A goal, and energy, directness, really good first half form him. Shame he had to go off.

Can’t wait for one of Esquerdinha’s 40 yard thunderbastard shots to go in. He’s tried his luck from distance twice in games that I’ve seen.

Very enjoyable game, sort of league one that occasionally broke out into a championship match.

Kone hugely impressive, so glad he got that chance and took it, easy to get forlorn with the lack of service up front.

Game changer was Saito, one true bit of class won the game.

I think because its chalk and cheese from last week.

There were very good signs today, but think because the board had a collective total melt down last week, we are all a bit wary to be too excited.

But yes thought a lot to like about today.

Unbeaten at home too.

Looking forward to the 'just back's.

I missed a lot of today's game due to zoom calls. I had it on, but just couldn't concentrate fully. Looked to me like the energy was up a few notches, though faded again until Saito and Burrell came on?

How did the two left-backs play, for instance?

RND looked like a solid experienced left back. Generated a lot of power on a header that nearly resulted in a goal. Seems like a safe pair of hands.

Esquerdinha was perfectly ok when he came on, no errors that I could see.

On this showing I’d be happy to start either of them to be honest

Time to enjoy the win and stick together. We can all disagree about all sorts of things at QPR but we all want the best for this club.

The two left backs were OK. RND, everything about him screams 'steady Championship left back' - positioning, decision making, even his appearance screams steady Championship player - probably what we need right now.

Esquerdinha was fine when he came on - actually got forward a lot more and hit one absolute pile driver which was blocked and rebounded about 40 yards out - it was absolutely flying

I think he made a pretty big howler with about ten to go - which fortunately didn't cost us. But certainly looks like a more than good enough back-up LB.

The left back Norrington looks a good signing. A real Steady Eddy, nothing flash but nothing stupid either. He had great help from Smyth first half. He must have loved making his debut with Smyth working his socks off.
Esquadinha came on and did OK with no drama. Does like a shot from distance, and when one goes in the ground will explode.

Midfield was still overrun at times, but the bench won it today.
Biggest disappointment. Dembele was shocking.

Also, this may upset some. Field. Benched and didn't come on, Madsen played the whole 90. If the club really is looking at bringing in another midfielder, I think his race has been run.

Charlton League 1 level hit & hope opposition and had nearly 60% possession!

We were being over run most of the game and needed Field

Madesen was a passenger again and we won't play teams as poor as Preston & Charlton too often this season.

The whole point of accepting CN lying to fans, condescending fans and being crap on the pitch as well was that we were going to develop our own players and sell them for so much money that we wouldn’t care about trifling stuff like winning games.

Now at the first opportunity we are not playing the 18 yo we can develop and sell, we are playing someone else’s crap LB…

It’s indefensible, even for you.

Norrington played well, the 18yo did well when he came on. Development.

Subs swung the game back in our favour but we're not going to win many games if the players aren't fit enough to compete for longer than 30 minutes. That last 15 minutes of the first half the entire team were visibly blowing - slower to the ball every time, giving away silly freekicks from tired tackles, trying to buy cheap free kicks the ref wasn't having to get a breather.

Walsh took some real over the top stick second half - chants of "we want our goalie back" & Nardi's name being sung - especially when he failed to release the ball quickly, ignoring the fact no one was in a state to get forward until Burrell came on.

Nevertheless plenty of postitives - Kone looks a proper number 9, JS was proactive with his subs, Morrison after a slightly shaky start to his season looked back to normal. Mbengue good game too & seems a great character getting the whole team involved in the post match celebrations

Just back and my Mrs and girls are surprised that I did not arrive in cartwheeling down the street.
The result was the important and pleasing thing.
Good: Kone can finish and appears to have a footballing brain. Koki, everything about Koki. RND looked like he has played at LB before and fitted in after a week and did a good enough job. Burrell too seems to have something about him. I also thought Smythie worked his socks off for the first half hour and deserved his goal.

Not so good: we seem to have to have a mental fragility from 46th min until 80th minute too often. I felt Varane was causing a lot of the problems with this cautious approach, going backwards or dallying on the ball. Mbemgue is, as some pointed out he signed, RAW. He could easily have been a liability today and was lucky with the Kerman challenge.

The most important thing today was a home win much earlier in the season and a two week break to get Hayden back up to speed and JCS somewhere near the team by then.

Poll: With no leg room, knees killing me, do I just go now or stay for the 2nd half o?

Today’s worst take!

I said some time ago that if everyone is fit, Field doesn’t make the starting 11, and that was before we signed Hayden.

In no way was Madsen a passenger. He tackled, tracked back, won headers, was, with one notable exception, tidy with the ball and pinged a beautiful 40 yard pinpoint driven pass to split Charltons defence. One of our better players today.

Varanes not cautious, he just can't do what's needed when trying to get a team moving forward.
In fairness he's not completely match fit though.

I am surprised that we didn't sell him for £5m back in June.

Yes. Nothing wrong at all with Madsen today. By all means criticise him when he's poor but that was a decent performance today. I had him just above Varane who was a little sloppy in possession but overall okay.
Charlton didn't set the world alight but they were organised and are still carrying momentum from their incredible end of season form from last year. A win is a win.

I'm taking my lad to his first ever game tomorrow, so praying for a non-toxic atmosphere for him to enjoy himself. And ideally a victory. But I'll take a draw

Well lads, if you all want to chip in and get my son a season ticket I'm sure he can lend his services to future matches!

Happy to report that at 4 years old he managed to stay in his seat the whole game and absolutely loved celebrating all (multiple!) goals!

Honestly after Smyth scored I got a bit emotional celebrating his first live Rangers goal with him. Don't know why but it just hit me

Shit but local
