I must admit I was a bit worried about this signing when I was reading the comments about him from the fans of his previous club but I think he’s doing well. Up against a tricky winger Saturday and had the best of it. He looks like a player who’s going to be a 7/10 most weeks and will probably go under the radar. He reminds me of Bidwell in that he quietly goes about his job unnoticed but as soon as he’s not around you realise how much he’s missed.

He seems a bit of a random BASIC signing.

Solid pro.

Good signing.

Did NorthernR do a new signing piece on him or was it lumped in with the flurry of signings we made around the same time? I can’t remember. I’d certainly like to see what Sheff Utd fans said about him coz I think he’s been very solid, doesn’t get seem to get forward like Paal did, but then we don’t really need marauding full backs now.

Very 6/10, very vanilla, very average. None of this is necessarily a bad thing, just a solid short term fix. Hope Esquerdinha gets proper minutes though because that is really the bigger point

Steady enough and knows the league. For a Champ LB, positioning and winning duels are key, and he seems to relish that. Both our current FB's are cut from the same solid, no-nonsense, functional mould, which they probably need to be as it offers balance to our attacking front four. They can offer support when needed, but main job is to keep things tight.

Esquerdinha will still get minutes, likely start against Oxford. He’s probably better suited to games where we’re on the front foot, at the moment I’d be a little concerned about his positioning against the stronger sides in the division. Wrexham wasted no time targeting him but every minute will help with that.

Yeah, he looked solid to me on Sat. Good positioning, calm under a fair amount of pressure, got loads of blocks in.

I thought the exact same thing after 15 minutes or so. Even runs like Bidwell. As we get into 2026 - hopefully way away from the drop - would like to see more Esq.

RND is solid, but he’s not ours and I’m not so sure he’s going to be more than a Bidwell (whereas Esq could be very good or not, we still don’t really know)

Exactly. Wrexham wasted no time in exposing him and he was found wanting; being easily beaten by their wide player and appeared to panic on occasions thereafter. He does have ability and is the next in line from the development squad after Kolli and Morgan.

Norrington-Davies is an excellent loan signing and is very solid defensively. This team has enough offensive options in other positions, starting and from the bench, so it's not a major requirement for him to figure as prominently in attacking areas.

Just throwing it out there...

I think he's done well and I won't but we had our own 6/10 left back that we fcked off, brought back, then fcked off.

He's basically Paal except not ours.

Maybe he's cheaper I don't know.

Bidwellesque for me in that no nonsense way.

Seems like a good character and a Croydon lad like Poku innit.

Are you sure we fcked him off Baz? Maybe, just maybe, Paal had already made it clear that he wouldn't renew.

Back to the thread, RND has performed well above what my expectations were & has given us four defenders capable in the air. That helps with the problem of Nardi being stuck on his line.

Please give generously to the RND.

They are volunteers who do phenomenal work, often in extremely dangerous and life threatening situ...oh, our LB!!

Yeah, solid. Maybe just needed a new environment.

Take it up with Clive, he said it as far as I remember.

Not rated by them at all, though I think he was played as a CB more often than not. Their loss.

He is boring and solid which is what we need in a back line containing Mbengue.

A vast improvement as a loanee full back on last season's Harrison Ashby.

Big upgrade on Ashby. I think he defends better than Paal but not as good with the ball at his feet

This. And better than Bidwell.
Not amazing, but a decent stopgap for now, but really, we need to sort this LB position out and pronto.

Esq isn't ready yet but may get there one day, he should be loaned out to Orient who make all our players look good.

Only brought in because of the Larkeche injury.

But RND has been the perfect signing. He does the job required

Solid and strong.

We do not need a full back cum wing back cum left winger as we have so many options up top.

And anyhow from what i have seen is an upgrade on Larkeche who in pre season, to me still seemed very raw still despite his loan, the previous season

i think Esquerdinha has potential and currently has greater quality going forwards but there looks to be a player there.

RND is an upgrade on Fox but solid and dependable and in his position thats as decent as we could require currently.

Happy with the signing myself and great that the club acted so quickly and well

Exactly this. He's fundamentally not very good, but he does the basics of defending well enough to deal with the majority of the Championship wingers.

I felt much better going into Saturday with him at LB over the Larkeche/Esq options, and I'm sure there will be effort made to keep the latter involved as we go

I like this bloke. A rare species these days, who does what it says on the tin. Left Back, so I’m on the left and at the back.

The scariest thing on the pitch for me are left backs with delusions of grandeur. Right backs, fair enough maybe, I’ll cut them some slack, but left backs, No.

Isn’t he actually a centre back 😆

He’s been OK so far. Gives us some balance and experience without setting anything on 🔥

Helps massively to have Saito in front of him and helping out rather than Dembele.

Dembele is a good option from the bench if we are chasing the game but Saito works much harder and can actually last the entire game, without any preseason - just for shits and giggles.

You could equally just swap RND for Esquerdinha if you need to chase the game.

Nice to have some options instead of fitting a right back or centre back into that slot.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

I thought RND looked solid enough in the Charlton and Wrexham games, but less so against Stoke's better wide players. Same with Dunne. If we are able to strengthen the squad in January it's these 2 back positions that look the most necessary to me. I'm not entirely comfortable with the whole back 4, but hopefully JCS will be able to improve it, and possibly the huge Akindileni or Smith can make the step up.

RND on 08:48 - Sep 23 with 1466 viewsHAYESBOY

Quiet but effective.

In an ideal world I would like to see Esq. on the bench to get some minutes with RND coming off in the later stages, but as the squad is so strong that's probably not possible.

No, he's a LB Bazz, who has occasionally been used at CB over his career.
