Shipshape and Bristol Fashion Match Thread 11:10 - Oct 2 with 32843 views | colinallcars | As Spaceman P has abnegated his responsibility, let me have a crack. Only done one before and I think that was a win. Draw'll do me.
Shipshape and Bristol Fashion Match Thread on 15:57 - Oct 4 with 1452 views | baz_qpr | Hunters right we've been worked out, and when teams sit in defensively the lack of 10 to play through the middle means we just can't progress very well. All well and good on the break and the problem is when we do get in we dont seem to know what to do with it. If we are going to play 2 up top then we need to sling more crosses in I'd have Smyth on for Dembele, then Kolli on for the last 30 in 10 role

Shipshape and Bristol Fashion Match Thread on 15:49 - Oct 4 by dmm | Kone is very quiet and has been for a few games. I'm beginning to wonder if our long ball to Burrell game isn't helping him. |
I’ve not been as impressed with Kone so far as most on here have been. It does seem though that he’s being asked to play slightly deeper and I don’t think he’s been happy with that role. Dare I say he needs to shape up his attitude a bit? Contrast with Burrell - absolute props to him. Love the fella so far.

Shipshape and Bristol Fashion Match Thread on 15:45 - Oct 4 by Hunterhoop | Feels like everyone else has worked out our variation of 442 now and a way to negate it. For those watching, how is Varane playing? Think he’s been poor this season and is getting an easy ride. |
Varane meh. Morrison, Burrell, Saito, Dunne and Kone pretty poor. Cook, Nardi, Esq, Madsen OK Dembele awful. Two early good chances spaffed by Burrell and Kone. Disappointing so far.

To a point, yes. However, once in the last third, poor decision making and selfishness kicks in. Whilst Bristol City play the obvious pass and cut the ball in from the byeline, QPR players ignore the obvious pass and go it alone. Dembele, Burrell and Saito all guilty of this first half. The result? Zero shots on target. It's a team game and there's no I in team.
Shipshape and Bristol Fashion Match Thread on 15:58 - Oct 4 with 1397 views | gazza1 | We need to be more clinical up the front end and also take some of the half chances we are getting. I believe that we are playing ok overall.....game not all over just yet. We are missing RND and his attacking stuff. [Post edited 4 Oct 15:59]

Shipshape and Bristol Fashion Match Thread on 15:54 - Oct 4 by gazza1 | Average....passing backwards as he does. |
Hmmmm….i’m struggling to see where he’s better than Field. Think Field is much better defensively and off the ball, and, whilst Varane has shown last season he can be better on the ball, I don’t think he’s shown that this season. Indeed feels a bit like he’s going through the motions and playing very safe. Hopefully he can it up. I wouldn’t want to see Hayden for him as Hayden looks miles off the pace to me. No surprise given the lack of a pre-season.
Shipshape and Bristol Fashion Match Thread on 15:59 - Oct 4 with 1344 views | BklynRanger | So many good things. Undermined by switching off and letting our heads drop. If Bristol win this after a similar second half I'll be well fcuked off.
Shipshape and Bristol Fashion Match Thread on 16:00 - Oct 4 with 1333 views | gazza1 | Not sure that he is tbh.......I would pick Field although Field is just 'not right' atm. Hayden is 'off' he just doesnt look it he 'is off'. [Post edited 4 Oct 16:01]

It was my big gripe with the Oxford performance. If you’re going to play a 442 variation and the have your centre forwards crowded it and passing lanes closed off through the middle by the oppo, YOU HAVE TO GO WIDE. That requires wingers hugging the touchline and trying to beat their men on the outside, before slinging it in or pulling it back. Our wingers are inverted. It makes the pitch small and easier for the oppo to crowd us out.

Yeah, agree. Field isn’t near his best currently. I do think he is the sort of player who needs games to gradually work himself up to his best level and stay there. But I’m not sure Varane is any better or playing better currently. Hayden’s game time has been a bit confusing, if I’m honest.
Shipshape and Bristol Fashion Match Thread on 16:04 - Oct 4 with 1128 views | E17hoop | Until the goal, I thought we looked OK. It was an even game we were shading. Lose a soft goal and you can see 10% of the confidence drain out the team - Dembele the most. Kone has looked OK but the defence he's playing against isn't Wrexham and it shows. Burrell still looks the most likely to cause problems in their box.

Shipshape and Bristol Fashion Match Thread on 16:07 - Oct 4 with 954 views | NorrisGreen | Not sure some posters realise how bleeding windy it is? Any high/long ball is fiendishly difficult to judge. That cross bamboozled our whole defence who seemed to believe it was badly overhit and going out. Is a day for sharp passing at ground level with maybe the odd welly into the air to cause mayhem.

Yet more poor decision making in the final third. 2 teammates in the box and he tries to shoot through 3 defenders. Quickly followed by a heavy touch when in a promising position. [Post edited 4 Oct 16:09]
