The manager needs to get his act together and bring some wit and vision to our approach. Sadly, I fear, the likes of Varane, Dembele, Frey and Nardi for starters just aren't/won't be good enough. Kone, Vale, and Dunne also all really poor today. Worrying! [Post edited 25 Oct 17:08]

He still improved things (from a low bar) and had our only shot, so I'd be keeping mum if I were you, as your 'tactical' comment was pointless.

Sluggish from the outset and I would have thought, after Coventry, that they would have learned by now, that you get higher up the pitch from the start and try to force yourself on the opposition. Poor from the management team and players, some of whom are just not equipped for the tempo and quality that we need in these away games. Morgan, Kolli and possibly one or two others able to play quicker than 2 or 3 of today's team.

| Ramming up the M1 - Match Thread on 17:10 - Oct 25 with 2012 views | baz_qpr | It is what it is, we looked knackered from the off. Derby's 3-4-3 had us outnumbered all over the pitch and that's before the recovery time we've not had which I do think is a legitimate excuse. So Nardi gifting them a goal is criminal. Stephan really needs to work on what plan B is. In Frey, Varane and Dembele we have three players who are woefully out of form, and Kone looks jaded. The squad is deep. I dont get playing Field at LB ahead of Esquadhino who can at least attack unless he is injured, I dont get why Morgan is on the bench but Chair went 8 which totally nullified him when we needed him to float. We dont need Field, Morgan and Hayden on the bench and therefore leaving Kolli in the dev team who is going to be more effective against low block 4-4-2 just does not work against low block so we need plan B and if that means leaving out of form players or senior players out of the match day squad then that's what needs to happen. I'm also concerned and this has been the same regardless of formation about a) How susceptible we are to a straight long ball and b) How far backward we have gone on set pieces this season in comparison to last | | | |

We need players able to play at pace. Not players who stop the ball and go backwards or sideways because they cannot go forwards. What the HELL has happened to Varane ? He was breaking through the midfield last season. Every time he gets the ball now he stops it for two seconds then offloads it sideways or backwards. [Post edited 25 Oct 17:12]

Guessing we were crap 2nd half as well. Why take Saito off? Vale I could understand. Even Kone could of come off and Chair play in the hole. Saito was our only attacking player looking like he might create something. That first 25 mins first half was as bad as I have seen us this year. Cant really comment on 2nd half. The 2nd half was possibly even more shit mate , Derby sat deep and we didn't have a clue how to break them down and they look like a very average team.

| Ramming up the M1 - Match Thread on 17:23 - Oct 25 with 1687 views | mart_Goblin | Dear lord we stunk that place out again …for the second year in a row . Out battled and I have to say out thought . Derby don’t usually play with a back 5 but Eustace did a proper job which found Stéphan wanting a little today . Spent much of the 1st half trying to get out of our own half and much of the second passing in front of them with no penetration at all. They can’t believe their luck . Needed a bit more nous and invention but weirdly took off players who could get round Chair and help him. Madsen and Saito perhaps? Players who can create . Picking on Frey seems to be ‘en vogue’ , but he looks utterly clueless in this slightly deeper role . Like he’s never played the game . Having said that Kone wasn’t really any better . Not sure what the point of having him in that role if we keep pumping balls forward for Burrell to challenge for ? That’s what Kone is there for isn’t it ? Constantly caught in no man’s land. They need to tweak that . Nardi has to come for that ….again ..and thats the difference in us picking up a point or not. Not just Nardi, everyone is ball watching but he has to come and claim up and unders that land inside the middle of the six yard box. Really poor. Dunne bullied which hasnt happened to often , Saito no joy , Vale a split second too slow to really do anything . Weak . Weak performance and weak officiating too. Thought he let them get away with anything they wanted in that second half . Yeah disappointing. Nothing to go overboard about . Put it down to a bad day at the office but I think we’ve now been found out a little . We got away with it Wednesday, but only just . Probably need to tweak things rather than wholesale changes . Dembele has gone 'phutt' like a cheap firework. Varane hasn't regressed - he's been more or less consistently underwhelming since he arrived. Talking of fireworks, the guy needs a rocket up his arse. Nardi is becoming a liability, and Cook is almost as worrying prone to losing his bearings just in front of him, as if they're both making each other worse. Right now, I'd take them both out. Sadly, Dunne is turning into a kind of popular, sub-par piece of furniture who runs like he has a peg leg - and his throw-ins today were utterly pitiful. Frey is f*cked. Kone is increasingly resembling the training variety of his name - he looks like he needs/wants a month off! Vale works hard, but plays like a trainee. He shouldn't be starting. Where's my nurse - I need some healing! [Post edited 25 Oct 17:26]

| Ramming up the M1 - Match Thread on 17:25 - Oct 25 with 1652 views | Lblock | That was miles away from anything like acceptable I’m starting to think all the positive press Kone got went to his head, he’s going through the motions and not effecting games. That miss was so bad I’m still laughing at it… very Dykes. Dembele needs drumming out of the club. He’s as thick as a bowl of liquidised Rick Waller. That corner and lack of effort to stay on side allowing a Derby breakaway just sums him up; he brings the square root of fcuk all to this squad. Saito and Vale very much out of sorts and, away from home, I’d always prefer Smyth. Chair done okay for about 30 mins but looks some way from being fit. Nardi is rapidly losing me from his fan club. He needs to book a long haul flight two months in advance to leave his line. I’d put that goal down to him and i do wonder if his lack of game management is effecting those in front of him. Talking of which…. Mbengue. Not warming to him at all and currently he looks like he’ll cost us more points than he’ll win. His pace is an attribute but his lack of brains and calmness dissapates that. Burrell and Madsen were our standouts with Cook doing okay. I’ll not look at the Manager although the lack of motivation was evident today. If Morgan can’t get a run out and Kolli can’t even make a squad that’s producing that slop (and the last hour at Swansea) then they may as well look elsewhere for game time And breathe…… [Post edited 25 Oct 17:28]

I remember watching Man City a couple of seasons ago when they were 1-0 down. They spent the entire second half passing the ball around the penalty area, left to right, right to left just like us today. There comes a point when you have to put the ball in the box, the danger area. Don't just float crosses in smack the ball in low from all angles, get a deflection. Derby are going to stay put. Very disappointing, I really thought we would win today, carry on the away form. Nardi doing what Nardi does.

| Ramming up the M1 - Match Thread on 17:37 - Oct 25 with 1443 views | Harbour | Just seen the highlights so can’t give much of an opinion on the whole game. The goal is a bad one to concede…If Nardi can’t come and catch or punch a ball like that we will concede more poor goals. Looks like Derby had more opportunities to add a second or third goal. Kone missed a very presentable opportunity and headed it wide.. | | | |
| Ramming up the M1 - Match Thread on 17:38 - Oct 25 with 1405 views | Toast_R | Gave up on 60 minutes, wouldnt have scored if we played until Monday night. Varane; that talk of him being sold for 5M in the summer something is absolutely laughable. He slows everything down and contributes very little offensively. If he was on the goal line he'd pass backwards. Not having him at all. I think Jimmy Dunne has been mostly dog shit this season, and looks like a centre back playing right back (Which is what he is really). Miles off it. Saito, not good today, holding on to the ball too long. Vale ditto. It looked like a QPR in the cold north type display today. MILES OFF IT! | | | |
| Ramming up the M1 - Match Thread on 17:48 - Oct 25 with 1279 views | Dorse | For what it's worth, I thought we were better in the second half but that is an extremely low bar. We looked ponderous from the outset and the goal did nothing to improve the situation. It feels like we got out-thought at the tactical level: facing 3 x CBs, we struggled to win a header all afternoon and they always had a spare man, whilst their pace and press out wide meant that any width we did have got shut down early. Very frustrating and we got lucky that our woodwork played a blinder, because we could've shipped at least another 2 today. | |

| Ramming up the M1 - Match Thread on 18:06 - Oct 25 with 965 views | ManinBlack | Two consecutive seasons we have been poor at Derby and never looked like we would score in either game. It is one thing to fall behind early in a game but it would be helpful if we actually tried to have some shots in the game. Poncing around with the ball posing no threat is meaningless. We have to have a go as Swansea did against us in the closing stages. A hugely frustrating watch, we are better than that. | | | |

Concerned about Kone, looks like a centre forward who’s getting a little disillusioned that he’s not playing centre forward. Got a mild slating v Swansea but when he pushed up he took two great positions, one Smyth passed into touch, the other even simpler opportunity, Smyth didn’t even get the pass away. He needs to feel like the main man, we’re draining that from him fast.
