As they have already started, we need a thread. Suspect most of these will be wrong/clickbait sites, but lets store them in one place.

With 4 starts to his name over 5 seasons. No wonder he didn’t want to stay. Simply wasn’t given a chance.

We finally get a striker who bangs 20 + goals, only 23 years old, in the league below (same league that Poku, Mbengue, Morrison came from), and he’s sold off at the first opportunity.

It's obvious he was never signing a new contract. £3.5million gives us money to buy two new forwards and probably pay their wages for the next year or two.
I doubt selling Kelman is the difference between a promotion push and a relegation battle. Likelihood is we're lower mid table side with or without him. We simply have to take the money and reinvest rather than risk getting nothing for him in a years time. One (or both!) of the two strikers we're reportedly bringing in could be a success.

He didn't want to stay, so we simply had to sell. Off the back of a hot season and with probably a year left, its the right time to sell. There are other strikers in League 1 anyway

Insane profit on a player who has never scored for us

Great deal. I mean that is Armstrong and Kelman sold for a combined total of £7m if add ons included.

That's pretty impressive for two very average players.

Could not reasonably expect any more money than that, fair play. We are starting to sell players, finally. If Eze goes there could be a nice budget to work with.

Well, we’ll find out if it is a good deal or not won’t we?

Kelman will be playing in our division and has the opportunity to respond to all those who say he can’t play at the level.

I think he’ll easily get 10 goals, which will be a good return for a first full season at this level. And if he hits that - half his tally from last season in league 1 - he’ll have scored more than any of our strikers in recent years.

And if he'd stayed and scored 10 goals then I don't think that would have been the difference between promotion and relegation. He would not have signed a new contract and we'd have lost him for nothing next summer.
Instead we have the money to bring in a couple of new signings. Of course they're a bit of a punt too but they'll be on longer contracts and less money than we'd have had to pay Kelman to persuade him to stay. Personally, I'm not too bothered by this one. Club doing the right thing.

We all know the reality of our financial situation. We keep him, he scores ten goals and doesn't sign a new contract and then walks away for nothing next summer. I don't see how that makes more sense than turning a very good profit on him and reinvesting in a couple of new players on longer contracts. If he scores 20 goals and Charlton make the play offs then the club look a bit stupid but I'm happy with the risk involved. Others aren't which is part of what keeps us coming back to this message board every day.

If he does do that, the 20% sell on will come in handy at least

But i see just about every Championship club has been linked with him inlcuding Wrexham

Let's flip the facts: Kelman is in the last year of his contract at Orient and we take him on a season loan deal for £3m.

This board would be an instant Frank Doberman lookalike contest.

If the deal for Kelman is solid and the rumour of Celar going is true then that’s the best we could hope for.

Exactly! 3.5m for a player with zero goals in 23 appearances for us - seems a good deal from where I'm sitting. A shame he didn't sign a new contract with us as we'll never know how good he might have become, but such is life. All we have to do now, is spend the money wisely.......

Timothee Nkada has signed for us, along with Ba allegedly.

Rumours Celar going.

Nkada looks like an excellent player, so would be very pleased if this is true, especially when we have just added Burrell's pace into the mix from out of nowhere.

Where are you seeing this news though WWC?

The way I'd look at is if Kelman going pays for Burrell, Ba and Nkada to come in, then I'd say that's good business. We've bought three players who may turn out to be Sinclair Armstrong for one who may turn out to be Conor Washington. Realistically, we only need one of the new boys to work for us to be in front of where we were, and if Kelman works for Charlton, we'll likely make money from his eventual sell on.

Win win for us unless we turn out to be very very unluicky.

Lots of assumptions here.

The main assumption is that he will walk on a free is the biggest one

But what if we were to double his current wage offer (that he won’t currently sign), because having proved himself in the champ with 10 goals by Jan… he is flying, increasingly loved by fans, and we are happy to go to town on the mythical goalscorer already in our ranks. That is more than plausible, as is him signing it.

It works both ways.

What’s more, if Kelman does make his mark at champ level, this will look a very poor deal indeed. It’s a big roll of the dice and far from the incredible business being made out. Time will tell how sound a business decision this actually is.

Perhaps Kelman wanted assurances he would be number one striker here and we refused that.

Also i guess the new man has his own ideas and Nourry wants to add pace and power.

If Kelman fee paves the way for two possibly three pacy strikers, then you have to say it seems sensible.

Tbf thinking re Charlie, its not been great for him here but who knows.

We have one in and more to be announced at the fans forum, i am sure..

Celar i hope goes somewhere else.
