As they have already started, we need a thread. Suspect most of these will be wrong/clickbait sites, but lets store them in one place.

I would put a lot of money on the fact that we will have a new striker or two by the start of the season.

Whether they are any good or not is a different matter.

Agree. Only Celar for today I guess. But for Brentford, I’m hoping we’ll have Frey, Celar and 1 maybe 2 more.

Certainly sounds that way, the Nourry transfer tombola charges on, the strategy seems to be if you get enough new players through the door the law of averages says a couple of them should make the grade.....

To be fair it does appear that we are targeting pace up front, which has a logic to it. , especially now that we have a proper winger in Poku who looks like he put a dangerous ball in.

We’ve only signed 3 players or maybe 4 is the young South African is part of the 1st team squad. They were all really replacements for loan players who left and Santos.

For strikers, a really good one is out of our budget. We need to get 3 strikers who can score 5-10 goals each. So if we sell Kelman, can understand why we bring 2 in.

Agreed that's a positive something we desperately lacked last year, pace, power and energy was missing in a number of games.

Hoping we're still looking for a left back because I'm not convinced Larkeche is the answer, do we give him the first few games to see how he's developed, having Steve Bould shouting at him week in week out may help.

With all the reports it seems pretty clear we are getting a replacement striker so not sure why the teeth gnashing about the departure of a player many didn’t even want renewed last season.

Only thing that makes me a little nervous is 2 of the 3 strikers we are linked with are mid to later career. So far Nourry has had more success with younger signings whereas Celar, Madsen and to some extent Andersen disappointed. I guess the thinking is for such a key position as centre forward experience rather than sell on value more important.

We've also retained/given new contracts to Dunne, Varane, Cook, Walsh and Field this summer, deals that are equally if not more important than the new signings.

Harvey Vale is for all purposes a new signing, as well.

And a really good one too by the looks of it, just need to work out what position he plays. Easy to forget how young he is too. 🥚

Neither should you ignore Vale, Pearman and Akindeleni, who were, in effect, recruited earlier in the year.

For me, the squad is much younger and, depending on what happens with the strikers, a little bit stronger.

Akindeleni looks to me he has some super talent. Don’t want to big up anybody from a few brief minutes in friendly fixtures but I think he could be the pick of all the young signings.

Wonderful. That will be another two players for whom we'll be told that patience will need to be shown as they'll need time to adjust to the rigours of the championship.

That seems highly unlikely based on today’s selection.

Shame we won't get to see if Kelman can make the step up in our colours but left with no other option if he won't sign a contract, you also get a sense the club think this might be his ceiling.

Whether or not it's wise letting him go to a divisional rival remains to be seen (although if we have a sell-on and he starts scoring in Championship he'll be worth more than if he was doing so in L1/MLS).

Imagine we're banking on Poku/Dembele/Chair getting 10 goals each and whatever rag tag bunch of strikers we end up with chipping in with a few too.

I saw £3m but that's good money for an unsettled player in the last year of his contract.

With 4 starts to his name over 5 seasons. No wonder he didn’t want to stay. Simply wasn’t given a chance.

We finally get a striker who bangs 20 + goals, only 23 years old, in the league below (same league that Poku, Mbengue, Morrison came from), and he’s sold off at the first opportunity.

This I think, 100%. I guess I am being a hypocrite by suggesting we keep Kelman when I am always advocating that as a selling club we must sell - even as recently as Varane a month ago.
But the problem is we have no bloody strikers or at
least none that are remotely prolific and to let one go, without giving him a go seems counter productive. We are essentially 3 players away from being ok this season ; a LB, a ball- carrying midfielder and a striker. Of the 3, one would imagine the striker is the most challenging and expensive to recruit. We may already have the solution on our books and he is being sold by all accounts. Seems mad.

I get what you’re saying and you’re right in one way. But I think we’re trying to think two or three moves ahead. Say we kept Kelman then next season we’d be in the same boat but being in effect £3.5 million down. If we have identified other strikers then we’ve got this season to bed them in and then next season we’ve got hopefully a decent striker with Championship experience for a couple more seasons.

The gamble of course is whether we’ve got enough goals in the team to keep our head above water.

The other issue is that we may have another season where we’re potentially having to watch turgid football. I don’t know anything about the replacements we’ve supposedly earmarked but I can see there is a rationale for doing it.
