The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 04:53 - May 26 with 4273 views | ArcticHoop | There was some whispers few days ago when he post that video on Instagram that he and a club are back or still talking about new deal. I don´t know is it true, but even if it´s i highly doubt we can match Sheff Utd offer. Only reason he would stick around is that he really really loves QPR and money don´t matter

Dunne isn’t great on the eye, I like players that look good on the ball but, Dunne is the exception, good in the air, solid passing game, aggressive and committed. He will do for me, admittedly, I see him as a CB, hope he resigns but, needs to be resolved quickly.

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 20:17 - May 25 by hertshoops | Not often we get a player regularly making the kind of game changing contributions JD has this season Best rightback we've had since Kyle Walker, and with seemingly something to prove - either to us or himself I shall miss his energy and passion, and I shall have to return to shitting bricks if we concede a corner again without him winning everything Do you really think Nourry is going to adequately replace him ? Where on the gash scale will we be without him ? |
The likelihood is that Sheff Utd can offer JD a wage increase of at least 50%. No way will QPR match that. How many of us would turn down that sort of offer. Especially when you are at the midpoint of your career.

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 19:17 - May 25 by Wilkinswatercarrier | A bit contentious for some on here, but why is it disappointing if he goes? It creates a space for a better player to come in. He's not that amazing. I really don't get the Jimmy Dunne w*nk fest some seem to have for him. He can't pass, can't run, turning circle of an oil tanker. He is a typical Sheff Utd/Chris Wilder type player. It says a lot about how gash we are that he got PotY. |
https://www.efl.com/news/2025/may/07/who-scored-s/ He’s obviously not the best to ever do it but I don’t think he’s useless either. He’d be a decent option for any championship club and we’re barely hanging on to being a championship club. Statistically he was decent this year and on top of that the players and fans seem to love him which you can’t underestimate either. The players will listen to him when their heads drop and he can get the fans to liven up so we’ll miss out on that as well as him being able to put a decent shift in. Anyways, I’m off to have a tug..

Sure money will be a factor for Dunne as it is for everyone. But what I've heard him say is that he wants to play in the PL. SU didn't make it so I 'm less sure he wants to go there. Unless he's offered a contract by a PL Club he might be happy to stay with us if he felt he had a decent chance of that with us. Over to you Misters Hoos and Nourry. I think the first thing they need to do is get MC and Calm back on board again.

I'm pretty sure we can find another player who can put a decent shift in. I prefer my full backs to have a bit of pace and can get up in support and whip a cross in without then lumbering back. Let's not forget that if we had a half decent right back, he would not have been in this team at all. MC had dropped him as a centreback.

This, and they have a way better chance of being in the PL than we do. He should really keep his options open for one of the clubs coming down. Otherwise, it's off to SU, as it's his last big contract.

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 13:56 - May 26 with 2821 views | vanrrrr | A shame if he goes.. a player you’d want around the place. And we lose him on a free. Why the club did not extend his contract last summer is beyond me. Seemed to be settled in at Right Back under Marti and doing well - would seem a no brainer. I heard there was quibbling over an extra year ? For a 27yr old established champ defender who plays a lot A 3 or 4 year deal Seems reasonable.

Get the point, and he and Marti clearly have a great relationship. But this is pretty simple. One club can pay 50% more than the other (at least) and has a very realistic shot at promotion next season while the other cannot and does not. It’s that simple. Money and (potential) success > love. Pessimistic but self evident in modern football

His best chance of playing in the Premier League is to play for a team who are promoted, get a PL squad number and take his chances when selected. Sheffield United would be the logical option as they will be there are thereabouts again next season. Really can’t see any Premier League team signing him.
The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 17:17 - May 26 with 2152 views | HammersmithR | He’s not a Leeds type of player. They had the best right back in the Championship. He won’t go back to Burnley. He could go to Sunderland I suppose but I’d be doubtful. Sheff Utd are a shambles of a club and their financial issues have only got worse.

Reports were that he wanted four years. Which all sounds great but get relegated and now you've got a player in his late 20s on high wages for another four years starting in L1. That's the kind of deal that's been hobbling us for more than ten years.

He was also toilet until Cifuentes moved him into RB in Feb 24, he had an excellent 3 months but it would have been madness to give a 4 year contract based on a 3 month spell in a new position. Bright Samuel was another one that was poor and only really came good in the last year of his contract and by that time, too late and agents are in the ear telling they will get more money. I am pretty certain that Sheff Utd would not come in for him had they won on Saturday. So going there is his best chance of playing in the prem and he will get more money. That's just the way it is. I think if they had gone up he may have stayed.

I think Ainsworth was the first manager to play him at RB.

I don’t think it worked so well under Ainsworth’s ‘system’ but I remember he was really into the idea.

Obviously I have No idea what they offered and what he was asking - may have been crazy money and for sure put a relegation reduction in there but seems to me Dunne a solid lower / mid champo player - would never make big money selling him but low risk too. Would rather that than 4 or 5 years on a Madsen.

I had a sneaky feeling he’d sign for whoever won on Saturday As a freebie he’s a no brainer for either club He’ll give you everything and his head won’t drop Once you’re relegated he’s a proven SUPRB player at this level who’ll give you a solid platform to bounce back whilst you establish a medium term plan with guaranteed gravy for X years. Clearly I’d hope he stays with us but if he does go then I hope he signs for a more likeable club and I wish him ever so well
