But how do we do our business without a head coach in place to have input on the business being done?! How do we know they’re players the HC will want to play?!
Nourry has said it’s Belk, the Head Coach, and him, as DOF, who have input into signings. Surely we can’t make any decisions without an head coach in place…unless he was lying?
And if we do business without a head coach, it means this business is led and controlled by a 28 yr old with about 4 years experience in the game. 18 months with us, 12 months auditing us, and a prior year in non-playing staff recruitment for a 3 man band outfit.
Isn’t that a bit ludicrous?
Either the head coach has input, in which case we’ve put ourselves in a state of paralysis. Or they don’t, and we’re led by a 28yr old novice/charlatan (delete as you see fit).

They have won the PL Cup and a lot have been around the first team or out on loan.

They won the cup not the league.
No chance more than a couple more players maximum will be successfully promoted to the first team squad regularly.

He wasnt slagging him off in any way just said he's only interested in stats and knows nothing about football players.
He was very complimentary of the club and showed no bitterness whatsover .
He was pleased that he was released and told me he was looking forward to playing first team football next season. |  |

He had not been developed through our development squad.

I’m not sure how much evidence some people want to accept Nourry knows very little about football. He was a recruitment consultant two years ago. He wasn’t even interested in football at Uni according to someone who knew him from there.
I have no problem with data playing a role in football. I think it should, but I think there should be a balance. Nourry in Belk’s role, reporting to a genuine DOF, who reports to a CEO might make some sense. |

The fact we have scrapped relegation for the 12th season in a row bar one season shows us the current squad of players is not good enough. If you do the same thing we will get the same result and next season the league is going to be infinitely harder. It’s worrying we are still in discussions with the likes of Andersen, Fox and Colback. We must always look to be better. This summer is so important and I fully expect lots of new and hopefully better players coming in otherwise it will be another season hovering around relegation. Eventually we will drop. What is worrying? The players are due back for pre season in 3 weeks. We have no manager and we have announced only 1 pre season friendly. Those two for me as well. I liked Wilke at CB as well plus the striker Dillon.
The club is going in the same direction as Sunderland who also promoted several players from their DS squad over 2 seasons. They finished 16th last season and then playoffs.
Our DS players deserve a chance and the club/we need them to grab it.
What is the point of a successful DS, or sending players on loan (Kelman, Murphy) who smash it, but then not give them a chance?

It's a combination of both.
We are buying in development squad players. That's been happening.
There are no guarantees though. Kolli always injured, Lloyd not quite there, Morgan struggled after an initial excellent start.
What am saying is it takes time and these players will not be ready overnight.
Yes the Brazilian left back I feel could work this season, but he was development squad, when we brought him in.
Obviously there has to be a balance. But relying on development squad players and not buying players for the first team squad, thats a strategy for relegation IMHO. [Post edited 2 Jun 8:36]
