Those two for me as well. I liked Wilke at CB as well plus the striker Dillon.
The club is going in the same direction as Sunderland who also promoted several players from their DS squad over 2 seasons. They finished 16th last season and then playoffs. Our DS players deserve a chance and the club/we need them to grab it. What is the point of a successful DS, or sending players on loan (Kelman, Murphy) who smash it, but then not give them a chance? It's madness to think we can spend our way to promotion.
Sunderland consistently have players in the England squads right the way through the age groups. We don't. You're not comparing like with like.

He was also a very talented, and celebrated, piano player, or am I thinking of someone else?

The fact we have scrapped relegation for the 12th season in a row bar one season shows us the current squad of players is not good enough. If you do the same thing we will get the same result and next season the league is going to be infinitely harder. It’s worrying we are still in discussions with the likes of Andersen, Fox and Colback. We must always look to be better. This summer is so important and I fully expect lots of new and hopefully better players coming in otherwise it will be another season hovering around relegation. Eventually we will drop. What is worrying? The players are due back for pre season in 3 weeks. We have no manager and we have announced only 1 pre season friendly. The new manager needs to prepare the players for his new style of football / type of player he wants to sign. And at the moment we have literally nothing.
I share your concerns but the other scenario - well, pipe dream, because it's QPR we're talking about - is that the head coach impasse continues into the season and no new person comes in, but Betsy, Calm and perhaps another coach who's already inside the madhouse make a good start to the season and are allowed to just keep going.
I'd like this and, when Marti eventually leaves, it would save us money and ensure some continuity, but it does seem like a long shot.

I've followed the DS pretty closely this season, including attending quite a few matches. We have some very promising players but I'd be wary of blooding them in senior squad games too soon.
I can see Esquerdinha, Sutton, Tuck and Bennie being taking to Girona for the coaches to have a really good look at them and, out of that 4, I reckon Esquerdinha has the best chance of making it into the senior squad as cover.
As for the others, if they can be arranged, decent L1 or L2 loans would boost their development.
Wilke has only played a few games for the DS and a couple of senior games at non league Eastleigh. Dillon has a similar track record. It's too early to expect them to play at senior level and both need time in the DS.

Good to hear. The DMM seal of approval is good enough for me.
I mentioned it on another thread after a rather snide comment, but Esquerdinha already had a decent career before he joined us. Cup Libatadores is no mugs game and Paals departure suggests the club think he’s ready.

Management by a committee. What vould possibly go wrong with that?
I think once MC is sorted, Kim Jung will appoint himself and add Williams' role to his incredible portfolio of roles. His CV will need two pages for his time with us. Wouldn't be surprised if he's drawing up the architectural plans for our new stadium as we speak.

I'm not sure we'll be bringing in a lot of players. Midfield and strike force should be OK, although we could use a midfielder who can look after himself and pass forward. Defensively, I am worried, though. Looks like Dunne is going. Fox and Colback as well. That leaves 3 CBs who spent more time on the treatment table than the pitch. And no RB. Even the LBs (Larkeche and Esquerdinha + Vale?) don't look convincing.
I did raise the pre-season approach in another thread. So far, wedon't appear to have addressed the issue. No manager/head coach; 1 training camp and 1 match arranged so far. Unless we sort things out soon, we are going to be seriously under cooked.

You just got to hope that behind the scenes we have a lot to announce and we are just waiting for most of our ducks to be in a row first . That’s the hope . I’ll leave it there as far as reality is concerned. I know a few get upset .
To touch on the Esquirdinha conversation, I thought he reads the game very well indeed but against better players he’ll get caught out diving in too high up the pitch . He carries it very well but his final pass needs a whole load of improvement. He isn’t ready yet. With some sub appearances and even a 6 month loan I think this time next year we will have a very good player on our hands.

Just because players are representing their country at u19/20 doesn't mean they will be good enough. 3 years ago we had Field, Amos and Dozzell in midfield who all played at England U20. Wasn't great.
My point is something needs to change. The money we have doesn't pay for anyone really good. We HAVE to play the youngsters so they can be sold so we can buy better players. Nourry has stated that this is the club model.
I do get the feeling that some fans want to remain wallowing in the Championship. Risks need to be taken.

How long before he’s announced as our new striker?

The fact they have players playing for England at every age level and we don't tells you something about the respective academies.
The DS players just aren't ready for the championship on a regular basis. If you watched Morgan in the first team he offered legs, which was very welcome, but little else. In the DS he was putting his foot on the ball, picking out passes, organising his teammates. The gap between the DS and Championship is enormous.
Your last point is pathetic.

I don’t. I’ve got stadiums in League One I want to visit.

Fans like to wallow in the Championship - really..
Your plan with bringing in all development squad players and not spending money on new recruits - that strategy will appease the fans who wish to see the club wallowing absolutely but your plan and we are wallowing in league one.
Even the very best of academy graduates will need at least half a season to adjust. If say we had five such players we would be down by Christmas.
Also yes we won the cup but we finished bottom of the development squad league.
Also the opposition and know how at senior level can take time.
For your strategy to work this season, it would need at least five development squad players to all kick on big time and with no time for adjustments and who exactly will we have in to oversee this miracle too.
Yes we all would love it, if we didn't have to spend money but as you suggesting and should not like wallowing in the Championship, assuming you are thinking we could be challenging for promotion by just promoting development squad players and not spending any dosh at all, on experienced professionals.
It's not happening and won't.
That's happened once in history when Alan Hansen famously said, "You can't win anything with kids" to the Man Utd class of 92.
The exception to the rule, not the truth though in anyways at any other time in the recent or even distant past history..

Love this comment seeing Espanyol have made the bid for Varane. So he was bought under Nourry’s watch and already offered over 5 times more than we bought him for. I’m interested to see how he gets a bad press for this one?

Well, it’s all relative isn’t it?
A successful DOF is measured on net transfer profit; something Brentford smashed out the park. They made 100m+ in 5 seasons. Net.
So if you spend 4m on Madsen and he’s worth a fraction of that now, and you spend 1m on Varane, and he’s now worth 5m, you’ve gone precisely nowhere.
