As they have already started, we need a thread. Suspect most of these will be wrong/clickbait sites, but lets store them in one place.

Exactly this. He seems like a competent if unexciting option, with a bit of an injury history. But we only need him for 20 or so games at most (hopefully) with Esquerdinha playing the rest. I doubt we'll play him more than that since we don't need to.

A loan is good because it means the club isn't committed long term - we have Larkeche back for next season and further development into Esquerdinha. This seems like a sensible step for me.

Bet he plays at CB too, possibly more often than LB, as we do not have a left foot in that position without JCS and the whole pass from the back routine works 100 x better with left footers down the left. In some ways, getting a left footer in is adhering more tightly to the game model. Playing right-footed CBs at LB definitely isn't.

I have to say, at this point like Bazza I'd rather put all my faith in Esquerdina, and fill in with players we have as necessary.

It's a risky strategy but I think he's got enough quality to be worth the gamble - that one superb early cross he put in last week was enough to convince me, along with his pace to recover. There's loads to work on yes but hadn't he already played 11 senior games for Fluminese before coming to us? Something like that anyway.

CM is the one I really want to be bored about reading rumours about.

Yeah, I think you're right.

I like Esquerdinha a lot but he'll need managing carefully this season. I know next to nothing about Norrington-Davies but we certainly need another body in that position. I'm also pleased to see it's a loan.

I've seen Leahy play a fair bit and I'm not convinced he'll make it at QPR. I note he's not been given a senior squad number.

I am still dreaming about that cross he put in last week similarly - felt Kone really should have got on the end of that but understandable in his first game.

We were being linked with all sorts of midfielders from Ligues 1 and 2 in France over the summer that I had never heard of but everything has gone quiet on that front. Lewis Bate looks a handy player at Stockport, is a Londoner and was in the League One team of the season last year but might cost a fair whack - potentially a little on the light side too.

Fingers crossed we pull something out of the bag in midfield!

Well, I think it is burning the blueprints to be honest.

It makes me think the Plymouth debacle was for show and the truth is they’ll go short term when the going gets rough and when minutes really matter.

We can afford to carry one or two youngsters immersion style in my opinion. Plenty have.

Lots to like about this transfer window IMO, but this is a regressive step.

Morgan is 19, Varane 23, Dembele 22, Morrison 22, Poku 24, Kone 22. This is not a team of old soaks here for the short term.

Last season club was crucified for not having a reserve left back.

Now we are potentially getting one and club being crucified by some for that, too - only QPR fans…

I think we clearly need another left-back. We can't go with just Esquerdinha in case of injury and if dmm says we don't have another one in the building ready to go then that's good enough for me.

I'm with Bazza that I don't like loans.

OK, if we’re going to be literal about it.

We have a team of young players, a team that even the experienced heads, Dunne, Chair and Field are only 27, plus a number of players 24 and under, including a 19 year old.

You argue that the club will go short term whereas I argue this is a young team built for the long term.

You argue we could carry one or two youngsters, whereas I argue this is a team of youngsters.

I love having so many young players, it’s just I think it’s sensible to have another left back and not rely on a talented player who has played only two games.

To clarify, when I say youngsters, I’m not talking about age I’m talking about minutes in the Championship / English Football League.

I agree with you. A better placed cross into the danger area for an onrushing forward, you couldn't deliver. I sincerely hope that the lack of anticipation from Kone, in that instance, isn't a portent for similar in the future.

Why did we let Fox go if we are so desperate for an experienced left back? Would have saved us the loan fee and putting minutes into opponent’s legs for them?

I was happy we let Fox go. Really poor player. I'd have wanted us to buy a left-back, though. I'm with you on the loans thing.

edit - I'll miss Simmo's rants about Fox, mind you!

"No one has ever got relegated due to one weak left back."

Tell that to Christer Warren! Actually, that QPR squad of 2000-01 had big similarities - best players injured, lots of youth massively over-promoted, a couple of senior pros trying to carry the load in vain, others too old to contribute meaningfully, some very weak fullbacks, rookie goalkeeper trying to make his name in the shadow of a senior back-up, a potentially great young CF passing through, and on and on...

The idea that you could go through this particular 2025 Championship season, up against multi-million quid wingers and midfielders every week with two teenage left backs with collectively 180 minutes of professional football in the tank (and some right-footed CBs and midfielders as their back-up - who backs them up?) is so cavalier as to be sectionable.

They'd be hanging effigies of Nourry on X by November and he knows it. A loan to cover a season-ending cruciate is not messing with any project or timeline. It's routine.

"rookie goalkeeper trying to make his name in the shadow of a senior back-up"

Eh? The goalkeeping was split between Harper and Miklosko that season. Harper played roughly two thirds of the games, Miklosko the rest and Harper was hardly a rookie. This was his fourth season at the club and he'd played 89 times for us before that season.

Wages, I gather. I read somewhere he was on close to 15k a week if I'm remembering correctly.

RND doesn't seem well-liked at Sheff Utd so I wonder how much we're paying in wages + a loan fee.
