Two possible reasons we're looking at wide men. Smyth has been offered a new contract but hasn't signed it. Poku's injury might be worse than expected.
With those LB and CM slots still vacant, we might be in for a busy final week of the window. |
Both are reasons, they just aren’t valid from the club IMO.
The mantra is two spots for each position. We have 3 in those wide forward roles. That’s more than enough to cover injuries/contract disputes.
Like I said, it would be profligate. And a club with our finances should never be that. |  | | |

Exactly what I was going to say. With Larkeche out for the season we clearly need a LB (at least on loan), and while Edwards can play as a holding midfielder we really need a box-to-box guy. I see those as priorities ahead of strengthening the CB position, though I see the need to be replacing Cook. |

There is no logic to racking and stacking “in demand positions”. There are only in demand players, and they are usually players who have demonstrated something….when playing.
