The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 15:32 - Aug 21 by dm97 | Classic mistaken downvote - completely agree. £2m feels about right on his potential |
I just don't see them selling him for this. They bought him for €2m-odd Euros a couple of years back in the first place so I would imagine are looking for a return on that investment. With a couple of clubs in for him I don't see it happening - happy to be proven wrong though. I imagine Thomas is much cheaper and that's why we're in for him

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 15:41 - Aug 21 by RBlock | No, but Morrison, Mbengue, Cook, JCS (lol), Dunne (although leaves us short at RB), and Field potentially are all options before getting on to Tylon Smith or Akindenli. Fullback cover where we currently have Dunne and Adamson on the right and Esqui on the left feels far more a priority where we are pretty bare bones. |
Exactly what I was going to say. With Larkeche out for the season we clearly need a LB (at least on loan), and while Edwards can play as a holding midfielder we really need a box-to-box guy. I see those as priorities ahead of strengthening the CB position, though I see the need to be replacing Cook.

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 12:26 - Aug 21 by dmm | Strange unless Poku is out for longer than we thought or Kolli is off. Even then we have Vale whose main position is LW. |
FLW??? That's a step down from "one of my mates told me down the pub" rumours.

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 14:35 - Aug 21 by EuroRanger | Not sure what we'd be paying but Transfermarkt reckons 175k (not exactly a great source but I can't even find out how tall he is). That's a lot less than £5m, though I have to say that it's unfortunate that we spent all season getting him acclimatised to Champ football only for him to use that for Derby... |

Or Morrison and we can almost forget about what's his name , that CB who is always injured and never finished a season without missing at least 1/3 of it.

There’s also been increasing talk about 3-5-2 in which case you need three fully fit and decent centre backs | | | | Login to get fewer ads

What a player is worth in reality vs what a club will sell them for are two very different things though aren’t they? I agree they’re going to hold out for a lot more than £2m, doesn’t make him worth that. IMO Derby stumping up £5m based on what’s he’s actually produced so far is crazy high. Buying on potential is fine, we’ve done it with Burrell and Dembele recently, but we aren’t in the position to blow £5m on it. Hadn’t heard of this Thomas lad till today, so no idea if that’s a better alternative but I guess we may find out soon!

Unless we waste, sorry spend, it all on Saito for 5m. I am absolutely amazed that the 2 players we have been linked with recently are wingers. What am I missing? We need a midfield to get them the ball first and also a defence to keep the ball out of the net.
The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 16:52 - Aug 21 with 4063 views | Landshark | Look, I like Edwards, I really do. This transfer back to us is not going to happen though so I don't know why people are still holding out hope for his return. He's going to cost too much money. What we need to be doing is finding the next Edwards. Everyone could see he was going to be great when he was at Peterborough, he was in the England youth setup while playing for Peterborough which is fairly unheard of. The surprising thing was it took that long for a bigger team to buy him, a club of our size should have purchased Edwards the season before Southampton did. We need to find the next gem in League One or Two, not buying players with a high transfer fee.

Isn’t that exactly what the club have been trying to do for the past few years and especially over the past 12? Dembele, Morrison, Burrell, Kone & Poku all the pick of League 1 sides or had very solid loans there (Morrison & Dembele)?

Sure - but how do we know he was available at that time for less than Southampton eventually paid?

He's really ugly inside. Plus, he supports Chelsea and plans to call his kids 'John' and 'Terry' There, that should ease the pain.

That's one of their 'exclusives' lifted straight from WLS. Thomas hasn't played since Feb 1st after picking up a serious knee injury that put him out for 5 months. So a possibility then?

AKUTR's Dave Thomas was actually a really good player. He had trials. I'd like to see the Burnley Dave Thomas dribble down the wing carrying ten carrier bags of fanzines in each hand and then ping in a perfect cross. Branewishoo.

It's really odd. The only thing I can think of is if the club have identified wingers as having the highest sell on value or something?

Quite. I don’t get it. Even if the club have identified wingers as a position with high resale value, that logic must surely require them to play! If we sign Saito or anyone else we will have 7 players who can play wide forward/wing. There are, at most, 3 spots available each week if you include the no. 10 position. So 4 aren’t playing. It’s profilgate. Chair, Kolli, Sutton (left) / Poku, Dembele, Smth (right). Although if course they can almost all play on either flank and several of them can play at 10 too, where we also have Madsen and Vale. We have enough for those 3 roles. Stop signing more for them. Centre midfield and left back. The only signings we should make for the rest of the season are in those two roles. You could argue Handsome Ronnie makes strategic sense, but he’ll cost a lot and I we have 4 centre halves already plus Akindileni in back up. [Post edited 21 Aug 21:38]

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread on 21:36 - Aug 21 with 2128 views | dmm | Two possible reasons we're looking at wide men. Smyth has been offered a new contract but hasn't signed it. Poku's injury might be worse than expected. With those LB and CM slots still vacant, we might be in for a busy final week of the window.
